RAINDROPS

There are tears
my heart can’t hold
falling down soaking the ground

Water from my soul
releasing pain
My cry to begin again

From a secret place
I see your face
Your raindrops are tears
Sent from above
pouring out grace and love
Your raindrops are tears

Drench my hurt
flood over my pain
You call me by a new name

Soaking the trees
healing all things
that are precious to a King

From a secret place
I see your face
Your raindrops are tears
Sent from above
pouring out grace and love
Your raindrops are tears

You wept when I wept
You cried when I cried

From a secret place
I see your face
Your raindrops are tears
Sent from above
pouring out grace and love
Your raindrops are tears

Boundaries – When to Say Yes and When to Say No (part 1)

So, you wonder, if you used to live in abuse and domestic violence, how did you get out Ms. D?  Funny you should ask.  I recently came across a book/teaching/bible study that was planted in me about 10 years ago.  This particular way of looking at things helped me learn how to build healthy boundaries and have healthy relationships.  I didn’t know what healthy looked like.  I did not have any boundaries – I said yes to everything and everyone. And I got buried.  This series will focus on the book:

boundariescoverBOUNDARIES-  WHEN TO SAY YES AND WHEN TO SAY NO” by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend

What Does a Boundary Look Like?

In the physical world, boundaries are easy to see.  Fences, signs, walls, moats with alligators, manicured lawns, or hedges are all physical boundaries. In their differing appearances, they give the same message: THIS IS WHERE MY PROPERTY BEGINS.  The owner of the property is legally responsible for what happens on his or her property. Non-owners are not responsible for the property.  And if it’s not yours – leave it alone.

In the Spiritual world, boundaries are just as real, but often harder to see.  The goal of this lesson is to help you determine your intangible boundaries and to recognize them as an ever-present reality that can increase your love and save your life.  In reality, these boundaries define your soul, and they help you guard it and maintain it.

“And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Genesis 2:16-17 NIV)

“Above all else, guard your heart,
    for everything you do flows from it.:” (Proverbs 4:23 NIV)

Me and Not Me

Boundaries define us.  They define what is me and what is not me.  A boundary shows me where I end and someone else begins, leading me to a sense of ownership.

Knowing what I am to own and take responsibility for gives me freedom.  If I know where my yard begins and ends, I am free to do with it what I like. Taking responsibility for my life opens up many different options.  However, if I do not “own” my life, my choices and options become very limited.

Think how confusing it would be if someone told you to “guard this property diligently, because I will hold you responsible for what happens here,” and then did not tell you the boundaries of the property.  Or they did not give you the means with which to protect the property? This would be not only confusing but also potentially dangerous.

This is exactly what happens to us emotionally and spiritually, however.  God designed a world where we all live “within” ourselves; that is, we inhabit our own souls, and we are responsible for the things that make up “us”.

The Bible tells us clearly what our parameters are and how to protect them, but often our family, or other past relationships, confuses us about our parameters. For example, if you were raised in a home where you were always berated and put-down, you many not have any boundaries; you might not be able to say no to anything. Or, you just have walls — to make sure no one is coming in.

In addition to showing us what we are responsible for, boundaries help us to define what is not on our property and what we are not responsible for.  We are not, for example, responsible for other people. We are not responsible for what others do or don’t do with their things either.  Nowhere are we commanded to have “other-control”; although we spend a lot of time and energy trying to get it!

TUNE IN TOMORROW FOR Part 2 – “To and For” and “Good In, Bad Out”

Marked with Grace and Blessing

Do you have a mark?

What are you marked with?

A tatoo?

A scar?

A limp?

An illness?

Why do we always look at the natural?

Why do we ‘mark’ our life by our wounds?

Why do we measure ourselves by our failures?

I guess I’m getting older, reflecting back, on the measuring tape that I have used on myself.  The measuring tape of my own making.  I took the “world’s” point of view for so long.  You know – you are what you do, you’re only good if you are skinny, blah, blah, blah.  What a lie!  And then wonder why I am not further along in my journey.

God’s economy is different.  There is no stick to measure with!  Jesus took care of it.  Any ‘whosoever’ is welcome. God calls us chosen, loved, special. There’s a new thought!  And He marks us with His Holy Spirit, and his grace, and his blessing…

GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU:

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14 NIV)

You serve me a six-course dinner
right in front of my enemies.
You revive my drooping head;
    my cup brims with blessing. (Psalm 23:5 MSG)

*

God, mark us with grace
    and blessing! Smile!
The whole country will see how you work,
all the godless nations see how you save.
God! Let people thank and enjoy you.
Let all people thank and enjoy you.
Let all far-flung people become happy
and shout their happiness because
You judge them fair and square,
you tend the far-flung peoples.
God! Let people thank and enjoy you.
Let all people thank and enjoy you.
Earth, display your exuberance!
  You mark us with blessing, O God, our God.
You mark us with blessing, O God.
Earth’s four corners—honor him! (Psalm 67 MSG)

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,
tape 2We cast down those stupid thoughts we had that we are not good enough, not pretty enough, not thin enough, not ______ enough, etc.  Those thoughts are not from you, but from the enemy of our soul.  Thank you that as we read your Word and spend time with You, you show us what is true and what is false.  Thank you for loving us right where we are at.  Thank you for not measuring us against everyone else. Today, we lay down the measuring tape of our own making.  Help us renew our minds, so we may know You better, and the plans you have for us, in Jesus Name.

Divine Connections

wpid-IMG_20130522_172931_176.jpg

Have you noticed the Lord is bringing His children together lately?  I cannot tell you how many DIVINE CONNECTIONS the Lord has brought my way in this past six months.  There is a Great Awakening happening in the Body of Christ.  God is bringing his kids together to accomplish His will on earth.  It’s not a solo act anymore, there are ensembles rising up!  And they are anointed with Power from God!

Do you feel it?

Do you see it?

There are great pockets of power the Lord is establishing.

Has it kept you up?

Or has God gotten you up early for a ‘download’ during your prayer time?

And it starts with PRAYER!

Pray with Simplicity
“And when you come before God, don’t turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat?
“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.
“The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this:
Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what’s best—
as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You’re in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You’re ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.

In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do.

You can’t get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God’s part. (Matthew 6:5-15 MSG)

My Prayer for You:

Dear Lord,
We thank you for the divine connections you are making.  Thank you for gathering your sisters and brothers from around the World to accomplish Your will on earth.  I pray that we listen before we speak, and get our ‘marching orders’ from You alone. Let our own plans and designs fall by the wayside like tumbleweed.  Confuse the enemy as we pray –  Blow them all away Lord.  Let Your will be done here on Earth, in Jesus Name, through Your chosen messengers  – us!  Thank you Jesus!

Happy New Year!

His Unfailing Presence

“Christmas Peace” by Diana Rasmussen

Another year I enter
Its history unknown;
Oh, how my feet would tremble
To tread its paths alone!
But I have heard a whisper,
I know I shall be blest;
“My presence shall go with thee,
And I will give thee rest.”

What will the New Year bring me?
I may not, must not know;
Will it be love and rapture,
Or loneliness and woe?
Hush! Hush! I hear His whisper;
I surely shall be blest;
“My presence shall go with thee,
And I will give thee rest.”
