18 Quotes to Embrace the New Season

As summer turns to fall I can’t help but think about the changing seasons. Fall is pretty with beautiful colors and the crisp fall air. Yet it is also the time the trees lose their leaves and go into waiting. They are hibernating so to speak, and waiting to re-bloom in Spring. What about you? Are you waiting for a New Season? Me too.

Quotes About New Birth and New Beginnings

Everybody loves a new baby. Just the act of bringing forth a new life into the world is a miracle. New babies are so adorable. Life is so precious. Totally helpless, the new baby  depends on their parernt(s) or adopted parent(s) to feed them, to hold them, to love them. Babies aren’t picky. Anyone will do. All babies need someone to help.

The same is true for the Church. New babies in Christ are born all the time. They need spiritual mommies and daddies to care for them, to feed them, to hold them, and to love them. Let us be the hands and feet of Jesus and not only look forward or to our own needs, but let us  look beside us to feed the new babies Lord.

Babies remind us that we can all begin again. We can always make a new choice and start over. God is patitent with us. He is not willing than anyone should perish. God is FOR us, not against us. Let us start today – with our new life and a new beginning with Jesus. Your story is not over yet – it is just beginning!

Quotes About New Birth and New Beginnings

  • “God’s Word is the living seed that brings new birth. It is the milk that nurtures the new life of a young Christian and the meat that builds the muscle of a mature believer.” ― Colin S. Smith
  • “As a newborn baby breathes and cries, so the signs of life in a newborn Christian are faith and repentance, inhaling the love of God and exhaling an initial cry of distress. And at that point what God provides, exactly as for a newborn infant, is the comfort, protection, and nurturing promise of a mother.
“If God is our father, the church is our mother.” The words are those of the Swiss Reformer John Calvin … it is as impossible, unnecessary, and undesirable to be a Christian all by yourself as it is to be a newborn baby all by yourself.” ― N.T. Wright
  • “A son or daughter in any human family is either born to or adopted by the parents. By definition, a child can’t be both. But with God we’re both born of Him and adopted by Him.” ― Jerry Bridges
  • “Faith is the evidence of new birth, not the cause of it.” – John Piper
  • “The gospel is absurd and the life of Jesus is meaningless unless we believe that He lived, died, and rose again with but one purpose in mind: to make brand-new creation. Not to make people with better morals but to create a community of prophets and professional lovers, men and women who would surrender to the mystery of the fire of the Spirit that burns within, who would live in ever greater fidelity to the omnipresent Word of God, who would enter into the center of it all, the very heart and mystery of Christ, into the center of the flame that consumes, purifies, and sets everything aglow with peace, joy, boldness, and extravagant, furious love. This, my friend, is what it really means to be a Christian.” ― Brennan Manning
  • “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • “Eternal life is not a peculiar feeling inside! It is not your ultimate destination, to which you will go when you are dead. If you are born again, eternal life is that quality of life that you possess right now.” – Major Ian Thomas
  • “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3
  • “The gospel declares that no matter how dutiful or prayerful we are, we can’t save ourselves. What Jesus did was sufficient.” ― Brennan Manning, The Ragamuffin Gospel: Good News for the Bedraggled, Beat-Up, and Burnt Out
  • “A transformed life is the greatest of all miracles. Every time a person is “born again” by repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ, the miracle of regeneration is performed.” ― Billy Graham

Prayer for a New Season

I don’t know about you, but I am weary of this Winter/Spring season. I live in Wisconsin and we have had ice and snow for the last few days. Yeah. Happy Spring right? We have had more snow in April this year than we did for the whole month of  December in our state. Crazy right?

So let’s open the door for a new season with the Word and a prayer for a new season!

spring

God’s Word for You:

“So keep on trying to know the Lord. His coming to us is as sure as the rising of the sun. He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain giving water to the earth.”  – Hosea 6:3 NLV

“Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.” – Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV

“My beloved spoke, and said to me:
“Rise up, my love, my fair one,
And come away.
For lo, the winter is past,
The rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear on the earth;
The time of singing has come,
And the voice of the turtledove
Is heard in our land.
The fig tree puts forth her green figs,
And the vines with the tender grapes
Give a good smell.
Rise up, my love, my fair one,
And come away!” – Song of Solomon 2:10-13 NKJV

My Prayer for You:

Dear Lord,

I thank you for the strength to get thorough this long winter. You know I have struggled to keep my peace and joy. You know I am not a snowbird and the lack of sunlight just brings me down. Thank you for being with me and giving the strength to endure. new

I pray Lord that you let this new season of Spring begin – both in my state and in my life. I am ready for new things to blossom and grow. You promised to bring me new life and life more abundantly.  I am ready! Let it be done to me according to your Word Lord, in Jesus Name.

New Beginnings Quotes for the New Year

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language
And next year’s words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.” ―  T.S. Eliot

“Do not [earnestly] remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” ―Isaiah 43:18-19 AMP

“No, this is not the beginning of a new chapter in my life; this is the beginning of a new book! That first book is already closed, ended, and tossed into the seas; this new book is newly opened, has just begun! Look, it is the first page! And it is a beautiful one!”― C. JoyBell C.

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”― Edith Lovejoy Pierce

“The more we let God take us over, the more truly ourselves we become – because He made us. He invented us. He invented all the different people that you and I were intended to be. . .It is when I turn to Christ, when I give up myself to His personality, that I first begin to have a real personality of my own.” ―C.S. Lewis

“Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!” ―2 Corinthians 5:17 AMP

“As the year comes to an end, don’t look back at yesterday’s disappointment. Look ahead to God’s promises yet to unfold.” ― Buky Ojelabi

“Hope
Smiles from the threshold of the year to come,
Whispering ‘it will be happier’…” ― Alfred Tennyson

“Tomorrow, is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one.” ― Brad Paisley

Small Beginnings

Small beginnings. A thought becomes an action. Today I start new. New thoughts. New actions. Like Pastor Jeff said – I want the Perfect Will of God in my life. Yes there is good, and yes there is his pleasing will. But I want all that God has for me here. I believe God, he says ALL things are possible to those who believe! So I’m starting with a thought, a prayer, a small beginning. Things can change. I don’t have to stay “stuck”. Thank you Lord for small beginnings!

Video is here: God’s Perfect Will

“Watch your thoughts for they become words.
Watch your words for they become actions.
Watch your actions for they become habits.
Watch your habits for they become your character.
And watch your character for it becomes your destiny.
What we think, we become.
My father always said that… and I think I am fine.”
― Margaret Thatcher

Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.(The seven lamps represent the eyes of the Lord that search all around the world.)
Zechariah 4:10 (NLT)

Little but fierce“Never despise small beginnings, and don’t belittle your own accomplishments. Remember them and use them as inspiration as you go on to the next thing. When you venture outside your comfort zone, wherever the starting point may be, it’s kind of a big deal.”
― Chris Guillebeau

“The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”
― Confucius, Confucius: The Analects

“Most things, even the greatest movements on earth, have their beginnings in something small. An earthquake that shatters a city might begin with a tremble, a breath. Music begins with a vibration . . . And God created the whole universe from an atom no bigger than a thought.”
― Lauren Oliver, Delirium

“Something wonderful begins to happen with the simple realization that life, like an automobile, is driven from the inside out, not the other way around. As you focus more on becoming more peaceful with where you are, rather than focusing on where you would rather be, you begin to find peace right now, in the present. Then, as you move around, try new things, and meet new people, you carry that sense of inner peace with you. It’s absolutely true that, “Wherever you go, there you are.”
― Richard Carlson, Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff … and it’s all small stuff: Simple Ways to Keep the Little Things from Taking Over Your Life

“Thus out of small beginnings greater things have been produced by His hand that made all things of nothing, and gives being to all things that are; and, as one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled hath shone unto many…”
― William Bradford, Bradford: Of Plymouth Plantation

“It all depends on you. If you want it to be different,it will be different. Don’t look at the world with your eyes but with your heart.”
― Avi, The End of the Beginning: Being the Adventures of a Small Snail

Don’t Judge Scrooge by the Dead Man

imageSo Scrooge returns to his cold, empty house and falls asleep. He gets a visit from his dead partner, Jacob Marley. He dreams of his past, present, and future. Scrooge was given a vision of where he would end up – unless he changed. Remember the children of “Ignorance” and “Want” in the Ghost’s coat? I think that was one of the creepiest parts of that movie! Scrooge had never seen them before. Or if he did, he turned away. What would happen if he looked away now? He would be judged. And left wanting. Remember the tombstone?

What did Ebenezer do when confronted with the truth?

imageHe could have stayed the same. And ended up alone, and dead. Yet he was given an opportunity to change. He was still breathing. He still had life. When he saw the end of the story, he opened up his heart, and received the love of God. There is no love without God. There is no life without God. And Ebenezer saw that.

Ebenezer made a new choice – he repented. He received love and then he was able to give love. At once he awoke from his dream, safe and sound in his warm bed. He was so excited to be alive he shouted out the window wondering what day it was! And he started sharing. He bought that big turkey and brought it to Tiny Tim. He showered the Cratchit family with love and gifts. He went to his Nephew Fred’s house for dinner. His heart was changed. He was now a new man, a new creation. He was warm and loving and generous. Nothing like the old Ebenezer. The old man had died that night, the new Man was born – all after he met Love.

Guess what! It’s not too late! We can all change. Not by our effort, but through the power of God. That same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in YOU with the Holy Spirit!

So this Christmas season don’t judge yourself or others by the dead man!

What’s done is done. Today is a new day full of hope and joy and opportunities! All things are made new once you have met Love – Jesus Christ. Love is greater than any pain, any abuse, or any hurt. The love of God is different from what you might have experienced so far. Open your heart and receive His love today, you will be made new!
