Prayer for When You Want to Hide

I understand hiding. I can hide for days sometimes and not talk to anyone about anything. Just grunt sometimes, lol. Sometimes we just don’t want to talk to anyone because of whatever. It’s ok. Can I come and sit with you?

Thanks. I come and sit next to you, wherever that may be. We are in this together. I don’t know why this is happening, but let’s ask the One who knows and can help. Lets’s pray.

Dear Lord,

I pray that you would hold ________ in your arms today. We are struggling and we need a place to rest. You said if we were weary we could come to You and You would give us rest. There are so many questions, and no answers. We don’t understand this. We sit at your feet Lord. We rest our heads on Your shoulder. Abba Father, help.

Lord, you know. Let us rest in the secret place with You and restore our hearts and minds. Heal our spirits Lord. Give us fresh annointing with your Holy Spirit and fill us up with the Living Water. We want to hide in You Lord, under the shadow of Your wings until we have the strength to get up. You are faithful Lord. You are our anchor in the storms. We need you Lord, in Jesus Name.

Resting and Trusting in God During the Holidays

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays! However you choose to celebrate, I wish you peace and rest in this Holiday Season. I know it is a busy time for all of us. With the shopping, the presents, the tree, the family gatherings – it can become a bit overwhelming. Especially if you are walking through a storm at the moment.

Let’s stop, take a breath, and rest in the arms of our Savior this season. It only takes a moment to refocus our minds on things from above and find the rest we so desperately need. Jesus came to be with us here on planet Earth. After He died He released the Holy Spirit to live in us. Christ in us – the hope of glory. Emmanuel – God is with us!

Isaiah9

So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:  “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” – Matthew 1:22-23

The more hectic my day gets, the more I need to rest in God’s arms. I read His word. I meditate on it. I stop and listen and pray. I choose to trust God. He has this. He said He would make all things work together for good. God promised never to leave or forsake us. God is with us! Rejoice!

“Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’” – Isaiah 41:10

I pray that you may enjoy each day of this Holiday season and rest in God’s love and mercy and grace. May you be filled with His Holy Spirit and overflow with joy this Holiday Season, in Jesus Name!

Learning to Rest

Learning to rest. It is not always easy in this digital world. There are so many pretty things to look at. Plus you can see who is doing what any time you want. It’s insane. I miss the simpler times. The days without cell phones – when you had to leave a message on the answering machine and we could call them back when we wanted to. Our kids will never know life without cell phones. I mean really – I did not have internet when I grew up. No computer at home. Really. My kids think I’m a dinosaur.

There are times I have to unplug. Just rest and be. Go for a walk, dig in the dirt, just breathe. This life is so fast. The older I get, the faster time flies.

Can you relate?

God’s Word for You:

  • “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV
  • “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” – Psalm 91:1-2 NIV
  • “The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.” – Mark 6:30-32 NIV
  • “Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.” – Exodus 34:21 NIV
  • “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.- Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

My Prayer for You:

Dear Lord,

Help us to let go of this world and rest in you. Bring to our minds the peace of spending time just resting in You. Let us choose to trust you with all our trials and tribulations knowing that this life is only temporary. You are the Author and Finisher of our faith. Forgive our disbelief. Our beginning and our ending is in You and what you have already done. Increase our faith, in Jesus Name.

God is Calling You Deeper

image

Listen, do you hear Him in your heart? He is Calling you, “Come.” The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.”

Come sit at His feet as the waterfall of His love washes over You. Be washed, be renewed, be loved. He will fill your heart as you spend time with Him!

image

Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls;

all your waves and breakers have swept over me.

By day the Lord directs his love,

at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life.

image

Why, my soul, are you downcast?

Why so disturbed within me?

Put your hope in God,

for I will yet praise him,

my Savior and my God.

– Psalm 42:7-8,11

Receive Peace Today in the Middle of Your Mess

If there is one thing you bring with you wherever you go that this world needs it is Peace. The Spirit of the Living God lives within you if you have believed on Jesus. And He is Peace – the Prince of Peace. Receive it today. Let His peace reign in your heart when the world is crazy. Let his peace reign in your heart when things are out of control. Receive His Peace in the storm and in the quiet. And carry the Light of the World into the darkness. Bring kindness and humbleness and rest in Jesus today. The World around you will see it. Shine on!

Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:5-7

I Had to Unplug to Hear God’s Voice

There are times life is too loud. There are so many distractions these days with all our other responsibilities. I gave myself some time off this past week – to unplug, refresh, and recharge. I put my phone away. I didn’t blog everyday. I didn’t check Facebook 12 times a day. I didn’t record any music for the last month or so. I even muted my new app Periscope, lol!  It was one of the best things I have done in a long time.

  • Have you ever been in a conversation with someone who does all the talking?
  • Where you couldn’t even get a word in because they never stopped to listen?
  • How did that make you feel?

Yeah, me too. It’s frustrating.

I have to confess this was how my talk with God was going this past month. I was doing all the talking. And not listening.

Thank you Holy Spirit for promoting me to unplug, to simply shut up and listen for God’s whisper. I feel so much better today. And hopeful. And joyful. You give me rest Lord. Thank you Jesus!

1 Kings 19:11-13

“Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind.

After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.

And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

His Yoke is Easy

Rest my child. Come to Papa God. Rest in the loving arms of Jesus. His yoke is easy and He will give you rest.  Come away to a quiet place today.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-10 NKJ

God is greater – greater than whatever we are facing today. He is greater than fear, greater than disease, greater than lack, greater than our jobs, our money, or any other thing that may try to lead us astray. God is greater than any devil, any curse, or any witchcraft. He is even greater than our hearts. His plans for us are even better than the ones we have for ourselves.

Let’s bring him our baggage, our doubts, our shame – and leave it at the cross of Calvary. He paid for it. He doesn’t want us to try and carry it all on our own anyway. He is greater!

GREATER

By MercyMe

Bring your tired
And bring your shame
Bring your guilt
And bring your pain
Don’t you know that’s not you’re name
You will always be much more to me

Every day I wrestle with the voices
That keep telling me I’m not right
But that’s alright

‘Cause I hear a voice and He calls me redeemed
When others say I’ll never be enough
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world
In the world
In the world
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world

Bring your doubts
And bring your fears
Bring your hurt
And bring your tears
There’ll be no condemnation here
You are holy, righteous and redeemed

Every time I fall
There’ll be those who will call me
A mistake
Well that’s OK

‘Cause I hear a voice and He calls me redeemed
When others say I’ll never be enough
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world
In the world
In the world
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world

(He’s Greater, He’s Greater)

There’ll be days I lose the battle
Grace says that it doesn’t matter
‘Cause the cross already won the war
He’s Greater, He’s Greater

I am learning to run freely
Understanding just how He sees me
And it makes me love Him more and more
He’s Greater, He’s Greater

There’ll be days I lose the battle
Grace says that it doesn’t matter
‘Cause the cross already won the war
He’s Greater, He’s Greater

I am learning to run freely
Understanding just how He sees me
And it makes me love Him more and more
He’s Greater, He’s Greater

‘Cause I hear a voice and He calls me redeemed
When others say I’ll never be enough
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world
In the world
In the world
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world

There’ll be days I lose the battle
Grace says that it doesn’t matter
‘Cause the cross already won the war
He’s Greater, He’s Greater

I am learning to run freely
Understanding just how He sees me
And it makes me love Him more and more
My God is greater (He’s Greater, He’s Greater)
Than he who is living in the world

Rest in the Sacred Space

Rest in the Sacred Space

~Copyright 2015 Diana Rasmussen

Some days I have nothing to say
I can rest in our sacred space
Knowing that your love covers me
and You will lead the way
I trust Your Word my Lord
to your promises I cling
I’ve said my prayers and
I’ve held my tongue
Your peace and presence
Now You’ll bring

peace 9

Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,

But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31 NKJV)

Finding Peace in the Silence

There is a peace in silence. Have you been there? To the place where there is no noise. Not that easy these days is it? I took a web free vacation this past weekend and didn’t post a thing. Yep, time for some R & R with no internet.   I have to say, I miss those days.  I mean, I love you all, and I love reading your posts as you pour out your hearts – that I missed. But do you remember the days before Google, before Smartphones, and before the Internet?

I don’t think our kids get to experience that.  They talk on the phone, message, snap-chat, instagram, FB, etc – everything is online whether you want it there or not.  And I have heard so many horror stories about how people are finding out about personal family issues online. I know, it happened to me too.

How can we value privacy when we don’t have any?

How can we hear God if we don’t listen?be still

Here is an excerpt from Beliefnet along with my interpretation…

Six Benefits of Silence

1. Soul Refreshing

We cannot pour water into a cup that won’t sit still.

2. Soul Restoration

We  cannot strip away the old and put on the new if you won’t stop to get dressed.

3.Soul Healing

We cannot expect a wound to heal if you won’t bring it to the surface and let the Holy Spirit take it away.

silence4. Soul Listening

We cannot hear if we don’t stop talking.

5.  Soul Quieting

We cannot receive from God if we are too busy with our hands doing what we want.

6. Soul Ravishing

We cannot enter that intimate place with God and let him pour His love on us if we won’t sit still.

Peace in the Storm

rain35Peace in the Storm.  Do you like storms? I remember sitting on the porch with my mom and watching the storms. The lightning, the thunder, the rain.  I love the smell of the rain.  They are so pretty to watch – when you are in a safe place.

But what if you are stuck in the middle of the storm?  Have you ever had to pull over in the car because you couldn’t see? Sit and wait for the storm to pass? It wasn’t so fun then. When you are stuck in the middle – with nowhere to go.

Take a relaxing journey with me – and meet Peace…

GOD’S WORD FOR YOU:

Matthew 5:9 – Blessed [are] the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Philippians 4:7 – And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 – Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord [be] with you all.

John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,

Peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of You.  Let us be more aware of  Your Presence in the now. We fix our eyes upon You Jesus, and rest as You calm our hearts and minds in the midst of whatever storm we are going through, in Jesus Name.

Skip Rocks

Skip Rocks. Have you ever done that? What a great way to relax and reflect.  Funny the things we remember from growing up.  I used to do this as a kid at our old farmhouse. Here is a new song I am working on. Old Farm

Skip Rocks

Copyright 2014 Diana Rasmussen

When she 12 he walked her home
Her first kiss was at her street’s dead end
the next day he said he had a new friend
Trampled underfoot like cobblestone

When she was 16 she went to the prom
Flowers in her hair and blue satin gown
Limousine, dinner, out on the town
Sparkling gemstone in a masterpiece

She took off her shoes, walked in the grass
Picked up stones along the way
Black was for fear, gray was for tears
She went down to the creek – to skip rocks

When she was 22 she finished college
Money and cars and a new boyfriend
got busy with beer, a brand new career
tied the knot, but she missed her old spot

When she was 30 she had her first child
beautiful daughter, hair and eyes of brown
Skyscrapers and concrete all around
Suburban life of a city wife

She took off her shoes, walked in the grass
Picked up stones along the way
Black was for fear, gray was for tears
She went down to the creek – to skip rocks

When she was 40 her parents passed away
died in their sleep, went to Heaven that day
She took her daughter back to the farm
They went down to the creek – to skip rocks

They took off her shoes, walked in the grass
Picked up stones along the way
Black was for fear, gray was for tears
They went down to the creek – to skip rocks
