6 Ways to Overcome Anxiety in the Chaos of Mass Shootings

We live in perilous times. Anger and evil are rising. There are so many psychos out there taking innocent lives. It can be sobering. We feel so out of control as evil people kill innocent victims. There is no reason. They are psycho. But how can we react in times of chaos and senseless violence? How do we overcome our anxiety in these days of shootings?

6 Ways to Overcome Anxiety in the Chaos of Mass Shootings

1. There is good and there is evil in this world. There will be chaos and confustion. God told us ahead of time.  These are the beginning of sorrows. We are in the last days.

The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will bethe sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.  And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.  And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.  And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.  But he who endures to the end shall be saved.  And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” -Matthew 24:3-14 NKJV

2.  Whether we live or whether we die we belong to the Lord. Trust him with whatever happens next.

For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. – Romans 14:8-9 NKJV

3. Have faith that God will get you through these last days. Jesus has faith in you and your family and He will be with you here and in Heaven. This world is not our home. We were made for eternity and to live with Jesus in Heaven.

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” – John 14:1-6 NKJV

4. Our days are numbered in the Book of Life. Trust God that He knows when we are coming home to live with Him. He has put eternity in our hearts. We are citizens of Heaven just trying to make it through this world. We are only passing through. This is not the end, just the beginning.

For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;[b]
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.

My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them. – Psalm 139: 13-16 NKJV

5. Limit your news time and phone time. Whatever you feed will grow. I know people who watch every news story and read every article out there. They feed their fear. The more you feed it the bigger it will grow. Instead, feed your faith. Read the Word, pray, meet with other believers. Strengthen yourself in the most holy faith.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what isthat good and acceptable and perfect will of God. – Romans 12:1-2 NKJV

6.  In uncertain times, remind yourself of one thing that stays the same – God and His love for you. God is faithful. God is true. God will never leave you. God is true. God loves you now and forever. He will lead the way when it is time to leave this world and join Him in Heaven. Trust Him.

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.  – Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV

10 Quotes About Grief

It has been a hard month. Two of my friends lost loved ones this month. My heart hurts. I havn’t been very talkative this month. My friends and I are grieving and I know only God can heal our hearts.  I love them and it is so hard for all of us. I know that it is part of life, but it still hurts. Yes, there is life after death in Jesus Christ, but what about those of us who are still here?  I admit it, I don’t like it. I don’t like change. I want things to stay the same forever. Well, sometimes.

We have all lost loved ones. You can’t get through planet Earth without losing someone you love. I have been through this too. Lost my mom and mother in law in the same year. Grief is hard. It comes in waves. One moment you are fine and the next you are crying your eyes out. Smells still get to me. I will smell a cologne, or a flower, or a food and remember my mom. I still lose it sometimes. Grief changes and humbles you. I know God has a plan and they are in Heaven, but sometimes living life here without them just hurts.

All we can do is hang out together and love each other through it. We pray for each other and hold each other tight. We cherish each day and look forward to the day we can see out loved ones again in Heaven. We lean on the Lord who never leaves us, forever. Help us Jesus, and Holy Spirit, comfort my friends and their families during this difficult time, in Jesus Name.

10 Quotes About Grief

  1. “We were promised sufferings. They were part of the program. We were even told, ‘Blessed are they that mourn,’ and I accept it. I’ve got nothing that I hadn’t bargained for. Of course it is different when the thing happens to oneself, not to others, and in reality, not imagination.” ― C.S. Lewis, A Grief Observed
  2. “You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly—that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp.” ― Anne Lamott
  3. “No one ever told me that grief felt so like fear.” ― C.S. Lewis, A Grief Observed
  4. “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psaml 34:18 NIV
  5. “The darker the night, the brighter the stars,
The deeper the grief, the closer is God!” ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky
  6. “In times of grief and sorrow I will hold you and rock you and take your grief and make it my own. When you cry I cry and when you hurt I hurt. And together we will try to hold back the floods to tears and despair and make it through the potholed street of life” ― Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
  7. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9 NIV
  8. “Deep grief sometimes is almost like a specific location, a coordinate on a map of time. When you are standing in that forest of sorrow, you cannot imagine that you could ever find your way to a better place. But if someone can assure you that they themselves have stood in that same place, and now have moved on, sometimes this will bring hope” ― Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love
  9. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” – Revelation 21:4 NIV
  10. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28

Quotes for Memorial Day

God of our fathers, who by land and sea have ever led us to victory, please continue your inspiring guidance in this the greatest of all conflicts. Strengthen my soul so that the weakening instinct of self-preservation, which besets all of us in battle, shall not blind me of my duty to my own manhood, to the glory of my calling, and to my responsibility to my fellow soldiers. Grant to our armed forces that disciplined valor and mutual confidence which insures success in war. Let me not mourn for the men who have died fighting, but rather let me be glad that such heroes have lived. If it be my lot to die, let me do so with courage and honor in a manner which will bring the greatest harm to the enemy, and please, oh Lord, protect and guide those I shall leave behind. Give us the victory, Lord. -General George Patton

For love of country they accepted death. —James A. Garfield

So long as there are men there will be wars. -Albert Einstein

The purpose of all war is ultimately peace. -Saint Augustine

These heroes are dead. They died for liberty – they died for us. They are at rest. They sleep in the land they made free, under the flag they rendered stainless, under the solemn pines, the sad hemlocks, the tearful willows, and the embracing vines. They sleep beneath the shadows of the clouds, careless alike of sunshine or of storm, each in the windowless Place of Rest. Earth may run red with other wars – they are at peace. In the midst of battle, in the roar of conflict, they found the serenity of death. I have one sentiment for soldiers living and dead: cheers for the living; tears for the dead. —Robert G. Ingersoll

And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free, and I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me and I’ll proudly stand next to him to defend her still today, ‘cuz there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA. -Lee Greenwood

The story of America’s quest for freedom is inscribed on her history in the blood of her patriots. -Randy Vader

The dead soldier’s silence sings our national anthem. -Rev. Aaron Kilbourn

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty. -John F. Kennedy

Military power wins battles, but spiritual power wins wars.
-General George Marshall

They are dead; but they live in each Patriot’s breast,
And their names are engraven on honor’s bright crest. —Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, The Battle of Lovell’s Pond

The patriot’s blood is the seed of Freedom’s tree. —Thomas Campbell

And they who for their country die shall fill an honored grave, for glory lights the soldier’s tomb, and beauty weeps the brave. —Joseph Rodman Drake

Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened. -Billy Graham

I consider it an indispensible duty to close this last solemn act of my official life by commending the interests of our dearest country to the protection of Almighty God and those who have the superintendence of them into his Holy keeping. -General George Washington at Valley Forge

Speak the Good Things

Ever had a sick kid? Yeah, me too. My husband shared something with me the other day that bears repeating. He asked me, “Diana why are you praying speaking about the sickness, why not declare the Word over your son? Speak LIFE over him.” Whoa! Instantly I changed the ‘direction’ of my prayer. I said, “He is righteous, he is the blood bought son of Jesus, he is a child of the King, he is well, he is whole, he is healed in Jesus Name.” Guess what? The sickness left!

Speak the good you want to see.

Ever talk trash about someone? Gossip, backbiting, idle words? How about that sarcastic self? I read that sarcasm was really suppressed anger. Yep. Hey guess what’s for dinner? Those words will come back to you, the fruit of your lips.

And this morning I got this in my e-mail:

The mouth of the righteous is a well of life…
Proverbs 10:11

Speak The Good You Want To See

Anyone can speak what he sees, but it takes faith to speak what you want to see. Anyone can state the obvious, but it takes faith to see the invisible and call it forth!

Our Lord Jesus always spoke the good that He wanted to see happen. He practiced this so much that at one time, He said, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up” (John 11:11). Everyone else, including His disciples, spoke of a dead Lazarus, who was already wrapped in grave clothes and laid in a tomb. But Jesus spoke of a Lazarus who was alive, and He called forth what He wanted to see. He said, “Lazarus, come forth!” and he who had been dead for four days arose and came out of the tomb (John 11:43–44)!

The Bible tells us that “God…who gives life to the dead…speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed” (Romans 4:17, AMP). Beloved, you are made in the image of God and His Spirit abides in you. So if you want to see good in your life, then begin to speak it into your life. Jesus died on the cross to give you an abundant life. You have a blood-bought right to call forth a healthy body, a fulfilling career and a blessed marriage and family. Speak boldly the good that you want to see and start to experience it!

The lightning flashed
and thunder cracked
The day you died
the sky turned black

*
I cry in the rain
I scream in the thunder
Let go of the pain
before I go under

*
my heart withdrawn
trying to hold on
one day you’re here
next day you’re gone

*
Tears fall from my eyes
I never got to say goodbye

The stars are our light
Twinkling so bright
Time is undefined
With you and me entwined

Clouds are our dance floor
As you hold me once more
Spinning ’round the moon
To our favorite tune

When the day turns into night
A new reality takes flight
Your my King and I’m your Queen
As we dance inside my dreams

Turning round and round
Crickets sing our song
Absolutely heavenly
Precious melody

Swaying in the breeze
Above everything
When our fantasy
escapes reality

When the day turns into night
A new reality takes flight
Your my King and I’m your Queen
As we dance inside my dreams

Meet me at our Castle in the Air
Calm my fears, answer my prayers
As we dance inside my dreams

“I LIFT MY HANDS”

By Chris Tomlin

Be still, there is a healer

His love is deeper than the sea

His mercy, it is unfailing

His arms are fortress for the weak

Let faith arise

Let faith arise

I lift my hands to believe again

You are my refuge, You are my strength

As I pour out my heart

These things, I remember

You are faithful, God, forever

Be still, there is a river

That flows from Calvary’s tree

A fountain for the thirsty

Pure grace that washes over me

Let faith arise

Let faith arise

I lift my hands to believe again

You are my refuge, You are my strength

As I pour out my heart

These things, I remember

You are faithful, God, forever

I lift my hands to believe again

You are my refuge, You are my strength

As I pour out my heart

These things, I remember

You are faithful, God, forever

Let faith arise, let faith arise

Open my eyes, open my eyes

Let faith arise, let faith arise

Open my eyes, open my eyes

I lift my hands to believe again

You are my refuge, You are my strength

As I pour out my heart

These things, I remember

You are faithful, God, forever

And I lift my hands to believe again

You are my refuge, You are my strength

As I pour out my heart

These things, I remember

You are faithful, God

You are faithful, God, forever

Let faith arise

Let faith arise

When Death Dies

“When Death Dies”

by Gungor

Like the waters flooding the desert
Like the sunrise showing all things

Where it comes flowers grow
Lions sleep, gravestones roll

Where death dies all things live
Where it comes poor men feast
Kings fall down to their knees
When death dies all things live
All things live

Like a woman searching and finding love
Like an ocean buried and bursting forth

Where it comes flowers grow
Lions sleep, gravestones roll

Where death dies all things come alive
Where it comes water’s clean
Children fed
All believe
When death dies all things live
All things live

water2

There is a nice symmetry in this: Death initially came by a man, and resurrection from death came by a man. Everybody dies in Adam; everybody comes alive in Christ. But we have to wait our turn: Christ is first, then those with him at his Coming, the grand consummation when, after crushing the opposition, he hands over his kingdom to God the Father. He won’t let up until the last enemy is down—and the very last enemy is death! (1 Corinthians 15:21-26 MSG)

Diamonds on the Floor

I am boycotting Mothers Day. My mom, Linda, and mother-in-law, Oma, both passed away.  Maybe next year.  Ms D can’t do it today. QQ :’-( 😥

“Her Diamonds”

by Rob Thomas

Oh what the hell she said
I just can’t win for losing
And she lays back down
Man there’s so many times
I don’t know what I’m doing
Like I don’t know now

By the light of the moon
She rubs her eyes
Says it’s funny how the night
Can make you blind
I can just imagine
And I don’t know what I’m supposed to do
But if she feels bad then i do too
So I let her be

And she says oh
I can’t take no more
Her tears like diamonds on the floor
And her diamonds bring me down
Cause I can’t help her now
She’s down in it
She tried her best but now she can’t win it
Hard to see them on the ground
Her diamonds falling down

She sits down and stares into the distance
And it takes all night
And i know i could break her concentration
But it don’t feel right

By the light of the moon
She rubs her eyes
Sits down on the bed and starts to cry
And there’s something less about her
And I don’t know what I’m supposed to do
So I sit down and I cry too
And don’t let her see

And she says oh
I can’t take no more
Her tears like diamonds on the floor
And her diamonds bring me down
Cause I can’t help her now
She’s down in it
She tried her best but now she can’t win it
Hard to see them on the ground
Her diamonds falling down

She shuts out the night
Tries to close her eyes
If she can find daylight
She’ll be alright
She’ll be alright
Just not tonight

And she says oh
I can’t take no more
Her tears like diamonds on the floor
And her diamonds bring me down
Cause I can’t help her now
She’s down in it
She tried her best but now she can’t win it
Hard to see them on the ground
Her diamonds falling down

Looking for Life

Looking for Life

© 2013 D Rasmussen

She walks around the old cemetery,
looking for life under all of the stones.
Many secrets hiding in dark places,
voices calling, the demons are faceless.
*
The more she walks in, the deeper it gets.
Depression clouds want to bury her yet.
The stones promise life, love, money, and health
as she is deceived chasing after things.
*
She stands by a pit, tiptoes on the edge.
Will you come to help? Or will she fall in?
“Does it matter?” chant all the betrayers,
liars, deceivers, impostors, cheaters.
*
She just wants to live, to love and to be.
Then she stumbles in the shadow graveyard,
repeating to herself what the stones said.
She hears a calm voice from above, He said,

“Why do you look for the living, among the dead?”
