Stay At Home Soldier

I cannot imagine what it feels like to be the one who stays home while your husband/wife/son/daughter goes overseas to fight the battle. My husband served and my father in law served in our Armed Forces way before I knew either one.  I also have a friend with a daughter and son-in-law that just flew overseas to serve.  My heart goes out to all military families. Lets pray together for them all today – both those serving our country and those who are left waiting and praying. Intercede for Military Families today.

Deliver me from my enemies, O my God;
Defend me from those who rise up against me.
Deliver me from the workers of iniquity,
And save me from bloodthirsty men. (Psalm 59:1-2 NKJV)

Prayer for Military Families

Today we honor our soldiers and their families. Thank you, there are no words to say how much we respect you. You show us what heroes look like. So we offer our prayers and our praises up to God as incense for you  today.

Dear Lord,

We ask you to watch over our soldiers. Cover them in the shadow of your wings and keep them safe. Give them Divine Wisdom and Protection in the face of the enemy. Let no harm come to them or to their families. We thank you Lord for their willing hearts, and ask you to intervene in their lives today and in the lives of their families. Cover them with Divine Grace and abundant Mercy as only You can. Flood them with  supernatural strength and comfort as only You can. Let them sense your presence Lord in a new way. Go before them and direct their steps. Let them hear You singing over them. Let them know that You are still the great I AM and you still protect and deliver your people today.   And Lord, bring our soldiers home safely, in Jesus Name we pray.

Sometimes you hear a song that just stops you in your tracks. I was working out yesterday and heard this one. I had to share it with you today.

  1. “It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.” – Robert F. Kennedy

  3. “We sleep safely at night because rough men stand ready to visit violence on those who would harm us”. —Winston Churchill
  4. “Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Quotes for Memorial Day

God of our fathers, who by land and sea have ever led us to victory, please continue your inspiring guidance in this the greatest of all conflicts. Strengthen my soul so that the weakening instinct of self-preservation, which besets all of us in battle, shall not blind me of my duty to my own manhood, to the glory of my calling, and to my responsibility to my fellow soldiers. Grant to our armed forces that disciplined valor and mutual confidence which insures success in war. Let me not mourn for the men who have died fighting, but rather let me be glad that such heroes have lived. If it be my lot to die, let me do so with courage and honor in a manner which will bring the greatest harm to the enemy, and please, oh Lord, protect and guide those I shall leave behind. Give us the victory, Lord. -General George Patton

The purpose of all war is ultimately peace. -Saint Augustine

These heroes are dead. They died for liberty – they died for us. They are at rest. They sleep in the land they made free, under the flag they rendered stainless, under the solemn pines, the sad hemlocks, the tearful willows, and the embracing vines. They sleep beneath the shadows of the clouds, careless alike of sunshine or of storm, each in the windowless Place of Rest. Earth may run red with other wars – they are at peace. In the midst of battle, in the roar of conflict, they found the serenity of death. I have one sentiment for soldiers living and dead: cheers for the living; tears for the dead. —Robert G. Ingersoll

And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free, and I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me and I’ll proudly stand next to him to defend her still today, ‘cuz there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA. -Lee Greenwood

Military power wins battles, but spiritual power wins wars.
-General George Marshall

They are dead; but they live in each Patriot’s breast,
And their names are engraven on honor’s bright crest. —Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, The Battle of Lovell’s Pond
