There are Elijahs and Jezebles in this world. And it’s a battle for power. It may be at work, at home, or at church – but these spirits are present. God tells us to test the spirits. Not every spirit is from God. And not every spirit is friendly.
I recently received an interesting comment on a blog post about Jezebel. You can read it here – STOP TOLERATING THE JEZEBEL SPIRIT. A person thought that the Spirit of Jezebel was just about sex. I have not found that to be true. Yes, the Spirit of Jezebel uses her sexuality to control others, but it’s more than that. So today I thought I would compare and contrast these two spirits.
Leave me a comment if you think of more characteristics to add to these – thanks!
Spirit of Elijah
Stands up for truth and is bold and fearless
Has intimate relationship with God and receives instruction from God. (See 2 Kings 9)
Has the God given Authority to overthrow and overturn Jezebel and her kingdom
Is a Prophet and sees the future and declares it
Is a Minister of Fire and destroys the enemies of the Kingdom of God (See 1 Kings 18)
Confronts Jezebel and her blind followers
Spirit of Jezebel
Seeks her own agenda. She is bold and fearless as well.
Uses Power and Control to manipulate and destroy others
Mocks God and His people
Uses Witchcraft and other dark arts
Puts herself on the throne and sees herself as God
Sets up her own false kingdom where the subjects worship her
Kills, steals, and destroys anyone who does not agree with her
Note to self – Elijahs and Jezebels can be men or women. Its not about gender – it’s a spirit.
As a body of Believers, let us pray for the Lord to raise up the Elijahs to defeat the Jezebels in our Churches, our Schools, our Workplaces and our Homes. Show us your glory Lord, and RAISE UP THE ELIJAHS TO DEFEAT THE JEZEBELS, in Jesus Name.
I recently started a new book from my Pastor. It’s written by a Pastor Tim Baker, and it’s called DEWITCHED – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE DANGERS OF WICCA & WITCHCRAFT. It’s written from a Christian Perspective and compares Christianity, Wicca, and Satanism.
I have teenagers. And I have worked in the school district. Have you been to a Scholastic Book Fair lately? How about the Young Adult Section at the library? Wicca and Witchcraft books abound. They are enticing our children, and this is one mom who says NO! So, I am arming myself – and preparing for battle. Our children’s lives are at sake, and their salvation. I admit, I used to be ignorant. No more. Our children are reading about it at school. Yeah, really. It’s time we wake up.
Here is an excerpt from GoodReads:
Wicca is the fastest-growing religion on today’s college campuses, and is even featured on the covers of popular teen magazines. Christian teens need to know what to believe when it comes to witchcraft. Dewitched equips teens to carry on intelligent conversation with someone from a Wiccan background, know how to defend their faith to a Wiccan, and notice signs of Wicca or witchcraft in their culture.
Dewitched is the must-have resource for any teen, youth pastor, or parent who wants good solid information and advice from a Christian perspective about this popular but dangerous religion.
We all worship something. Some of us worship God, some worship Mother Earth and other gods/godesses, some worship Satan – but we all worship. We all follow something/someone. We all have a ‘code’ we live by. And we all get to choose. I am not here to dishonor your choice. Your choice is your choice. And my choice is my choice. I would ask you to honor that as well.
After my post about How To Recognize a Witch That Comes to Church I had a very good conversation with a member of Wicca. She was kind and helped me understand their beliefs. I am not her Holy Spirit, and she is not mine. Thank you Cat for your comments. But today, more than ever we need to know what we believe an why we believe it.
According to DEWITCHED, in Wicca they believe there is more than one God. They believe there may be many gods or goddesses. This may be based in old Celtic religion. Wiccans do talk to dead spirits/family members. I don’t understand why someone would want to talk to a dead spirit. They are dead! To me that is dancing with death.
Also from the book, Wiccans usually meet outside and worship there with circles and pentagrams. There is a ceremony. They honor and worship the earth. They will use objects for their magic and create personal spell books. They may take objects from someone who they are trying to convert. In the book there was a ceremony using a lock of hair, an object from another person, and then they sealed it with their blood claiming that this person join their coven. Wiccans believe in magic (or magik) and harness this power/energy when they perform their rituals. This energy may be used for good, or for evil, it is up to the Witch.
In the book, Wiccans may go to church, and then make friends with other teens there. Even attend youth group. But then they will ask their new friends to come to one of their services. Or maybe they will ask your teen if they could do a tarot card reading, read an ‘aura’, or practice exiting your body and going into another plane of existence. It may start as simply as giving your teen a pentagram necklace to peak their curiosity. But I am only on Chapter 11, so I’ll have to fill you in on the ending…
It’s real, and it’s time we talk about it church. Because our kids are.
Yes, we all get to make our own choice. And again, it is up to each of us. As a parent I want to train my child in the way to go so when he/she is older they will not depart from it. It’s not about who goes to church on Sunday; it’s about who has a relationship with Jesus Christ, the ONE and only true God. He is the Author of LIFE and lives in them and through them. I want my kids to know Him, to love Him and follow Him. Let them be a witness and a prayer warrior/warrioress. Let them to be the one their friends come to when they need prayer because they know that God hears their prayers and answers.
Children of the King, who have received the deposit on their inheritance already; children who have been adopted into the family of God, no longer orphans, no longer comfortless – but comforted and secure in who they are in Christ. Children who know that they have been redeemed and forgiven by the blood of Jesus; children who know that Jesus died on the Cross for their sins. That His death was a substitute for theirs – yes, the Passover Lamb. And now, there is no need to be afraid. The price was paid for our disobedience.
Children who have been baptized in the NAME OF JESUS, and who hold within them the Power of the Living God with the Holy Spirit. Children who talk in tongues and bring the Kingdom of Heaven to the Kingdom of Earth. Children who are led by Jesus Himself! And greater is the One who is in us that he who is in the world!
Hang on! Your story is not over yet. Things may be crazy at the moment but remember God is faithful. He will walk you through this storm. When the winds of change start blowing, grab the closest thing and hang on!
2nd Corinthians 4:8-9 says, “We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated. We do not know what to do, but we do not give up the hope of living. We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. We are hurt sometimes, but we are not destroyed.”
During this Christmas season, we will hear, sing and meditate on Jesus’ role as our Wonderful Counselor. This term comes from Isaiah’s Messianic prophecy of a child that would be born into this earth to redeem us from our sins and bring us into…
I was “visiting” my good friend Ann from A New Creation Too last night and her post just spoke to my heart. I could say that I feel many of the same things…
So, as Christmas quickly approaches I find myself sinking pretty darned low emotionally, mentally, and physically. Like a dark cloud has settled upon me filled with self-pity, discouragement, hopelessness, bitterness, etc.
Why the Holiday Blues? For me, sometimes I focus on my past and what I have lost. And what has not yet been restored. Holidays are known for self-imposed stress and I have to say I am not immune. 9 more days till Christmas and I haven’t bought a thing yet. I feel as frozen in time as the snow outside. I keep waiting for the ‘joy’ to fall down from the sky, but as of yet, I am still looking up.
Then in our conversation, I said I needed to break my HOLIDAY MIRROR. You know the one – that only looks back and doesn’t look forward. My yearnings for old times and old Holidays had stopped me in my tracks. Now I am not saying not to remember good times. On the contrary, remembering the good is what I want to do.
But I had to stop looking for today’s peace in yesterdays events. It was robbing me of my ‘now’.
“Look at the nations and watch— and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” (Habakkuk 1:5)
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures. (James 1:17-18)
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
My Prayer for You:
I thank you for new beginnings and surprises from You this season Daddy. We still believe you can and will turn things around for us. You know our needs, and we know how generous You are. Yep, we have the best Daddy in the Universe! You knew we would need a Savior, and you birthed baby Jesus. We worship and adore you God, and rest in You this season, in Jesus Name.
Christian mother and motivational speaker Tamara Lowe reminds us that our relationship with Jesus is far more important than all the worldly distractions surrounding us. This inspiring rap will lift your spirits today!
When faced with confrontation, do you head for the hills or walk straight in? Was there ever a time you wished you’d had the opposite reaction?
Honestly, there are times I stay and fight, and times I turn away. I really don’t like confrontation. I like peace. Have you ever had someone screaming in your face? I hate that. That is just plain wrong in my book. If you have lived through abuse you know what I mean. Words getting shoved down your throat, whether you agree or disagree doesn’t matter. I remember standing there and ‘checking out’ mentally. It was like I was there, but not there. Have you ever done this? Tuned out? Someone told me to picture a mirror in front of myself, and that all the words that He was throwing at me would bounce back to him. I did this, and then started laughing. Not recommended – he really got mad then! That was a ‘flight’ situation, I got away!
For me, I had to learn to stop and ask God, do I stay or do I run? He gave me wisdom in every situation. All I had to do was stop and ask.
GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU:
“I am Lady Wisdom, and I live next to Sanity; Knowledge and Discretion live just down the street. The Fear-of-God means hating Evil, whose ways I hate with a passion— pride and arrogance and crooked talk.
Good counsel and common sense are my characteristics; I am both Insight and the Virtue to live it out. With my help, leaders rule, and lawmakers legislate fairly; With my help, governors govern, along with all in legitimate authority.
I love those who love me; those who look for me find me. Wealth and Glory accompany me— also substantial Honor and a Good Name.
My benefits are worth more than a big salary, even avery big salary; the returns on me exceed any imaginable bonus.
You can find me on Righteous Road—that’s where I walk— at the intersection of Justice Avenue, Handing out life to those who love me, filling their arms with life—armloads of life!
(Proverbs 8:12-21 MSG)
MY PRAYER FOR YOU:
I pray that you give us wisdom in our normal, everyday life. Show us when to fight and when to flee. You know all things, you are our protection and our Savior, keep us safe and protected from harm. Deliver us from the hand of any enemies. You alone are God, and we praise You, in Jesus Name!
