In honor of all the kids going back to school today I made this video. For my kids, for my Sunday School kids, for all the awesome friends my kids have, and all of you: I pray God’s abundant blessings and favor upon each of you this year. May it be absolutely fantastic! And hey, why not Albert Einstein – God made and used him too!
Data, knowledge, wisdom. Which is greater? And where do you get it from? It’s back to school week here in WI so I thought I would focus on learning. Enjoy, and God bless you all this week!
We have access to lots of data. We live on the Information Superhighway. Anything you want can be found online – good or bad. We have tons and tons of data available to us. But what do you do with it?
Some say knowledge is power. I beg to differ. Some of the smartest people I know have no common sense whatsoever. I have met person upon person with lots of letters after their name who do not know how to treat people with love or compassion.
Taking that data and knowledge and knowing how to use it. That’s what I want to learn. And they don’t teach it in school. It’s one of those things we learn on the way.
I want to seek God for wisdom. He told me I could. Even Jesus grew in wisdom as he grew. I could use more wisdom. How about you?

Ecclesiastes 2:26 To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and[a] knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!
1 Corinthians 1:25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.
Colossians 2:2-4 My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.
James 3:17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
1 Corinthians 1:30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God–that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

Everything with a Place and a Purpose
Proverbs 16 The Message (MSG)
Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word. Humans are satisfied with whatever looks good; God probes for what is good. Put God in charge of your work, then what you’ve planned will take place. God made everything with a place and purpose; even the wicked are included—but for judgment. God can’t stomach arrogance or pretense; believe me, he’ll put those upstarts in their place. Guilt is banished through love and truth; Fear-of-God deflects evil. When God approves of your life, even your enemies will end up shaking your hand. Far better to be right and poor than to be wrong and rich. We plan the way we want to live, but only God makes us able to live it.
It Pays to Take Life Seriously
A good leader motivates, doesn’t mislead, doesn’t exploit. God cares about honesty in the workplace; your business is his business. Good leaders abhor wrongdoing of all kinds; sound leadership has a moral foundation. Good leaders cultivate honest speech; they love advisors who tell them the truth. An intemperate leader wreaks havoc in lives; you’re smart to stay clear of someone like that. Good-tempered leaders invigorate lives; they’re like spring rain and sunshine.Get wisdom—it’s worth more than money; choose insight over income every time. The road of right living bypasses evil; watch your step and save your life. First pride, then the crash— the bigger the ego, the harder the fall. It’s better to live humbly among the poor than to live it up among the rich and famous. It pays to take life seriously; things work out when you trust in God. A wise person gets known for insight; gracious words add to one’s reputation. True intelligence is a spring of fresh water, while fools sweat it out the hard way. They make a lot of sense, these wise folks; whenever they speak, their reputation increases. Gracious speech is like clover honey— good taste to the soul, quick energy for the body. There’s a way that looks harmless enough; look again—it leads straight to hell. Appetite is an incentive to work; hunger makes you work all the harder. Mean people spread mean gossip; their words smart and burn. Troublemakers start fights; gossips break up friendships. Calloused climbers betray their very own friends; they’d stab their own grandmothers in the back. A shifty eye betrays an evil intention; a clenched jaw signals trouble ahead. Gray hair is a mark of distinction, the award for a God-loyal life. Moderation is better than muscle, self-control better than political power. Make your motions and cast your votes, but God has the final say.
When faced with confrontation, do you head for the hills or walk straight in? Was there ever a time you wished you’d had the opposite reaction?
Honestly, there are times I stay and fight, and times I turn away. I really don’t like confrontation. I like peace. Have you ever had someone screaming in your face? I hate that. That is just plain wrong in my book. If you have lived through abuse you know what I mean. Words getting shoved down your throat, whether you agree or disagree doesn’t matter. I remember standing there and ‘checking out’ mentally. It was like I was there, but not there. Have you ever done this? Tuned out? Someone told me to picture a mirror in front of myself, and that all the words that He was throwing at me would bounce back to him. I did this, and then started laughing. Not recommended – he really got mad then! That was a ‘flight’ situation, I got away!
For me, I had to learn to stop and ask God, do I stay or do I run? He gave me wisdom in every situation. All I had to do was stop and ask.
GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU:
“I am Lady Wisdom, and I live next to Sanity; Knowledge and Discretion live just down the street. The Fear-of-God means hating Evil, whose ways I hate with a passion— pride and arrogance and crooked talk.
Good counsel and common sense are my characteristics; I am both Insight and the Virtue to live it out. With my help, leaders rule, and lawmakers legislate fairly; With my help, governors govern, along with all in legitimate authority.
I love those who love me; those who look for me find me. Wealth and Glory accompany me— also substantial Honor and a Good Name.
My benefits are worth more than a big salary, even avery big salary; the returns on me exceed any imaginable bonus.
You can find me on Righteous Road—that’s where I walk— at the intersection of Justice Avenue, Handing out life to those who love me, filling their arms with life—armloads of life!
(Proverbs 8:12-21 MSG)
MY PRAYER FOR YOU:
I pray that you give us wisdom in our normal, everyday life. Show us when to fight and when to flee. You know all things, you are our protection and our Savior, keep us safe and protected from harm. Deliver us from the hand of any enemies. You alone are God, and we praise You, in Jesus Name!
I first saw this video about 5 years ago. There are many versions on the web, but all the same message…
It is rather “haunting” – but true…
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]
Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. ” (Matthew 11:28-29 AMP)
A Psalm of David; when he was in the Wilderness of Judah.
“O God, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is.So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory.Because Your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.”(Psalm 61:1-3)
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding.
He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound].
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted;
But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. (Isaiah 40:28-31)
MY PRAYER FOR YOU:
We confess, we have put other things above spending time with You. We confess, we have built idols of knowledge for our own pleasure. Forgive us Lord, and purify us from all unrighteousness. We know You are for us, and You are the source of all good things – even wisdom and knowledge. We turn back to You today, in Jesus’ name.
