When I am going through a trial, like today, I try to write about it. It helps me get the feelings out. I seem to have so much more freedom when I just let the words flow out of my heart to the page. I guess that’s why I blog. It helps me to deal with real life stuff. And I get to meet people just like you, who have been through similar things. You bring me fresh hope and courage. I appreciate you all. You have been there too.
I know I am not alone. I have a wonderful husband and family. I am so blessed. And then life sometimes just sucker punches you right out of nowhere – right? I am facing yet another health challenge and let me tell you. I am so freaking sick of this. I’m weary. I’m tired. And now….this…ugggh!
So what is a girl to do? I could keep feeding the fears – but that won’t help. I have done that in the past and started spiraling. Not a good choice Diana. That was a pretty dark place back there. I don’t want to go back to that hopelessness.
My other choice? Choose faith. On purpose. Choose God. Choose hope. Choose life. I have heard it said that faith is like a muscle and needs some exercise. I guess that is what I need to do next – exercise my faith muscle.
When I need encouragement I turn to the Word of God. It is alive, really. The Word gives me hope when I am on empty and tired. And, I write about it, put it to music, and let the feelings out that way. I know we all go through stuff – that’s just part of being human.
Here is a new song I wrote called PURE GOLD that reminds me that God is with me, even when I don’t feel it. God promises me that He will never leave me nor forsake me – even with all my feelings. I pray that it blesses you, and I believe you will come out of whatever trial you are facing – and come out like pure gold!
PURE GOLD
Copyright 2026 Diana Rasmussen
[verse]
When I was ready to quit
comfortable living in the pit
God shined light in my darkness
And lit the spark in my heart
[pre-chorus]
I have no words as I look in Your eyes
Your love surrounds me and fills me inside
[chorus]
I will rise from these trials
I may be tested and tried
But my faith is refined in the fire and
I’m coming out shining like pure gold
[verse]
God offered me forgiveness
Healed my heart with His deliverance
He gave me His grace in place
Of all the wrong things I’ve done
[pre-chorus]
I have no words as I look in Your eyes
Your love surrounds me and fills me inside
[chorus]
I will rise from these trials
I may be tested and tried
But my faith is refined in the fire and
I’m coming out shining like pure gold
[bridge]
Lord , You shine brighter than diamonds
Your glory is like jasper,
It is clearer than crystal
I’m coming out shining like pure gold
[chorus] x2
I will rise from these trials
I may be tested and tried
But my faith is refined in the fire and
I’m coming out shining like pure gold
Bible Verses on Testing and Gold
Job 23:10
(NLT): “But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.”
1 Peter 1:7 (CEV): “Your faith will be like gold that has been tested in a fire. And these trials will prove that your faith is worth much more than gold that can be destroyed.”
Proverbs 17:3
(ESV): “The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and the Lord tests hearts.”
Zechariah 13:9
(NIV): “I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them.”
1 Peter 1:6-7(AMP): “ In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
