DAILY PROMPT: what’s the most time you’ve ever spent apart from your favorite person?
I, like many of you, have many favorite people, my husband, Bob, the love of my life, my beautiful children (all 6 of them), my Dad and Stepmom, my Father-in-Law, my brother, my sister-in-law Kris, my mom, and Bob’s mom(who both passed away this year), and all of the body of Christ, the many Pastors & their wives that have been such a blessing to me…too hard to choose for any mortal woman! So, since this is a blog, I think I’ll share a story….about the most wonderful person I have ever known.
We didn’t meet till I was 40. I had heard of him, but never really knew him. People talked about him, but I hadn’t really seen him for myself yet. Then, when marriage #3 was falling apart, (here we go again), there was this sweet woman that would come by my trailer and sing these old hymns, Grandma Pat. She’s a handful, very direct, but under her brass exterior is a woman that loved him. She told me she knew someone who could help cheer me up. And she was singing ALL the time. My life was falling apart, my ex refused to work, or keep a job any longer than 3 months, I had 2 babies, I was behind on my child support for the older two kids I already lost, we were losing the trailer, the power was going to be shut off, and she was singing – about him. She told me I should go with her to meet him.
I thought, yeah right, who would want to talk to me? Here I am, no job, no money, living with psycho-man (very hot headed), and I’m supposed to go meet somebody? She must be crazy. I knew I was. For some strange reason I said yes, must have been desperation. She wanted to take me to church to meet him. I wasn’t really a church girl, if you know what I mean. I didn’t really think God wanted anything to do with me anyway. But, she was still singing.
Grandma Pat brought me to Abundant Life in Janesville, WI. I met Jim and Linda Moses, (Yep, I met a Pastor, and lived to tell about it, there was no lightning from heaven that came down or nothin!) And yes I was kinda shocked – they were married for like – forever….that was new to me. And they weren’t fighting. People always got divorced in my family, or at least fought alot so you wish they would have.
Anyway, I met him, yes, the Him, Jesus, the big guy in charge, one Sunday morning in Janesville, WI. I couldn’t see Him with my eyes, but I felt Him all around me…my heart was turning into mush, I was crying, and all these people I had never met, came and gave me a hug. Verrrrry strange, for a girl like me. That was the beginning, of the most important relationship I have ever had, and we are still learning about each other every day…
So, I guess it took 40 years…
GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU:
Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Luke 11:9-10
” For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
MY PRAYER FOR YOU:
Dear Lord, I ask You to draw us closer to You. You have called us, You have chosen us, we are Your children. I ask You to continue to touch our hearts and change our lives as only You can. Thank you for giving us hope when we had none, for making a way when there was no way, and thank you for not giving up on us, even when we had given up on ourselves, in Jesus’ name.
I really thought I have answered your post. Anyway, here I am again to thank you for the prayers and picking Jesus. God Bless.
