We all have situations in life that try to destroy our peace. Perhaps it is a health crisis, a financial crisis, a relationship emergency, or a hurting heart that comes up. Our first response may be fear. That’s natural. It’s ok to be afraid when chaos comes.
It I have found that I can either feed that fear and spiral down, or I can choose peace. I’ll admit it, when I get bad news from the Doctor my first response is not peace! It’s in that moment that I can make a new choice. I can choose peace.

God tells us that:
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:4-7
I can pray. I can thank God that He is with me during this crisis. I can purposely choose His peace while I go through the crisis. And that choice calms me down. It will be OK, no matter what. God is with me and you. We are not alone. God sees, God knows, and He will help us.
Here is a song I wrote about my current crisis called “QUIET MY HEART’.
Quiet My Heart
Copyright 2026 Diana Rasmussen
[verse]
I got the doctor’s report
And it didn’t sound good
I know I should have faith
It will be just as it should
Fighting with the fear
Of what he just said
I don’t know if I
Can move ahead
[chorus]
Maybe it’s something
Maybe it’s nothing
I don’t know
God if You hear me
God if you know
Can you quiet my heart
[verse]
I’m here quietly waiting
To see what might be next
Believing that God will
show me my upcoming steps
I will wait on the Lord
And renew my strength
Believing my roots will
Grow stronger with depth
[chorus]
Maybe it’s something
Maybe it’s nothing
I don’t know
God if You hear me
God if you know
Can you quiet my heart
[bridge]
I will be still and know You are God
Trusting in You with my soul
God, please quiet my heart
[chorus]
Maybe it’s something
Maybe it’s nothing
I don’t know
God if You hear me
God if you know
Can you quiet my heart
[chorus]
Maybe it’s something
Maybe it’s nothing
I don’t know
God if You hear me
God if you know
Can you quiet my heart
