We all run into those situations. Where someone does something so ridiculously crazy you stop and ask yourself, “Are you freaking serious?” You don’t know whether to laugh out loud or beat them with a stick. Seriously.
We all have our own point of view. It’s the filter we look through to see our world. Then there are those who challenge us – just because they are still talking. Whether it’s family, work, friends, it really doesn’t matter. We all have “sandpaper people” in our lives who rub us the wrong way. It’s irritating. It’s uncomfortable. I don’t like it one bit.
What do you do when they come along and mess us your world?
Do you “scratch” back and say the first thought that comes in your head?
I tried that. It really is an easy way to start World War 3.
The older I get, the more I am willing to brush it off. Maybe it’s age, maybe it’s wisdom. I’ve learned not to say the first thing that comes to mind. That doesn’t work. Learned the hard way. Too many times I opened my mouth and regretted it later.
What about you? How do you deal with people who drive you crazy?
I have been poor. I have been homeless. It was not fun. I thought at that time that God was mad at me and I had earned my poverty. I was wrong. I believed the lies of the Enemy for a long time – and stayed broke. It was not fun, not one bit.
God does not give us a spirit of poverty. We were made to be blessed. We are the most blessed poeple on the Earth. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. I had to reject the lies that I had believed and embrace the Truth. God did not make his kids to be broke and wanting. God is a good, good Father and desires to bless us.
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” – 1 Timothy 1:7 KJV
Jesus has already paid the price to destroy the works and lies of the Devil. It is finished. Reject the lies. God does not want you to live in want. He desires to give you the desires of your heart. God is for you, not against you.
“He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” – 1 John 3:8 KJV
God made you to have life, and life more abundantly. He made you to bless you and to prosper you. Our Daddy is not broke and He does not withold any good thing for his kids!
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” – 3 John 1:2 KJV
Don’t abuse the blessing. Don’t start asking people for money and airplanes. Stand on the Word and watch what God will do. One thing I have learned is that you don’t have to chase the blessings. They will come to you – because God desires to bless you!
“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:
“Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.
“Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.
“Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.
“Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you bewhen you go out.
“The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.
“The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
“The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. And the Lord will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. So you shall not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right or the left, to go after other gods to serve them.” – Deuteronomy 28: 1-14 KJV
We live in perilous times. Anger and evil are rising. There are so many psychos out there taking innocent lives. It can be sobering. We feel so out of control as evil people kill innocent victims. There is no reason. They are psycho. But how can we react in times of chaos and senseless violence? How do we overcome our anxiety in these days of shootings?
6 Ways to Overcome Anxiety in the Chaos of Mass Shootings
1. There is good and there is evil in this world. There will be chaos and confustion. God told us ahead of time. These are the beginning of sorrows. We are in the last days.
The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age
Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will bethe sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for allthese things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.
“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” -Matthew 24:3-14 NKJV
2. Whether we live or whether we die we belong to the Lord. Trust him with whatever happens next.
For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. – Romans 14:8-9 NKJV
3. Have faith that God will get you through these last days. Jesus has faith in you and your family and He will be with you here and in Heaven. This world is not our home. We were made for eternity and to live with Jesus in Heaven.
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.In My Father’s house are many mansions;if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”
Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” – John 14:1-6 NKJV
4. Our days are numbered in the Book of Life. Trust God that He knows when we are coming home to live with Him. He has put eternity in our hearts. We are citizens of Heaven just trying to make it through this world. We are only passing through. This is not the end, just the beginning.
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;[b] Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. – Psalm 139: 13-16 NKJV
5. Limit your news time and phone time. Whatever you feed will grow. I know people who watch every news story and read every article out there. They feed their fear. The more you feed it the bigger it will grow. Instead, feed your faith. Read the Word, pray, meet with other believers. Strengthen yourself in the most holy faith.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what isthat good and acceptable and perfect will of God. – Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
6. In uncertain times, remind yourself of one thing that stays the same – God and His love for you. God is faithful. God is true. God will never leave you. God is true. God loves you now and forever. He will lead the way when it is time to leave this world and join Him in Heaven. Trust Him.
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. – Lamentations 3:22-23 NKJV
It’s a crazy world we live in. It’s easy to get distracted by all the ‘noise’ out there. It’s too easy to get overwhelmed.
Today lets focus on HOPE. Hope is the fuel of victory. Hope brings light into the darkness and helps us see. Hope is the spark that lights the fire in our souls to get us up and moving!

It was one of those days. You know. You wake up too early, before the alarm. Can’t get back to sleep. Ugggh. Go to work and find out what you did wrong this week. Dumb mistakes. Double ugggh. Thinking to yourself, “How did I screw that up? I can’t believe I did that.” Then you lose your phone at work. Yeah, been one of those days. Hopefully it will turn up tomorrow.
Am I happy – no. Am I joyful – no. Let’s be real. Some days just suck. But what do you do with that frustration feeling? Call me crazy – I looked up verses on frustration. I know I can’t be the only one having a bad day.
7 Verses on What to Do When You Are Frustrated
Jesus answered them, “Do you finally believe? In fact, you’re about to make a run for it—saving your own skins and abandoning me. But I’m not abandoned. The Father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.” – John 31-33 MSG

“I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back. So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision—you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.” – Philippians 3:12-16 MSG
When God, who is the best shepherd of all, comes out in the open with his rule, he’ll see that you’ve done it right and commend you lavishly. And you who are younger must follow your leaders. But all of you, leaders and followers alike, are to be down to earth with each other, for— God has had it with the proud, But takes delight in just plain people. So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you. ” – “1 Peter 5:4-7 MSG
“But you, Israel, are my servant. You’re Jacob, my first choice, descendants of my good friend Abraham. I’ll bring you back from all the countries into which I drove you”—God’s Decree—“bring you home to the place from which I sent you off into exile. You can count on it.” – Jeremiah 29:10-14 MSG
Have you ever watched a person tread water? Moving those arms and legs furiously but never really getting anywhere? It’s exhausting just to watch. I mean with all that effort shouldn’t they bee halfway across the ocean by now? Yet, this is exactly how I feel right now. Like I have been treading water for years getting nowhere.
Then I realized why. I had given up on setting goals. I had given up even trying to get anywhere. And just like that swimmer, after my energy was gone I sank. Right in the spot where I had worked so hard for so long. How about you? Have you ever given up on goals?
I’m not sure when it started. It’s like when does water really start to boil? When the water first gets hot, or is it at the first bubble, or do you need a bunch of rolling bubbles to call it boiling? Either way it is hot! And either way I just quit doing it.
“A person without a goal is like a swimmer just treading water. You use up all your effort and energy and get nowhere.”
– Diana Rasmussen of Prayers and Promises
7 Steps on How to Stop Treading Water
and Set a Goal:
Stop using up all your energy on useless things. Stop beating yourself up over the past. Stop waiting for others to do what you think they should do. Stop treading water.
Pray and ask God to open your eyes to what He has for your future. Get a bigger picture of the ocean than the pool you call life.
Be open to change. Change isn’t easy – but it will be worth it. God promised us all an abundant life – let’s be done settling. Wouldn’t you rather swim in the ocean anyway?
Look for new opportunities to swim in other places and further than you have before. There are plenty of bodies of water to explore. There is way more than the kiddie pool in your back yard.
Focus your energy on moving forward, not turning back. It is much easier to do the breast stroke forward than the backstroke backwards. Some people spend their whole life looking backwards and living in condemnation and regret. Set your vision ahead my friends. The Son is rising upon you – He has called you out of the boat! It’s time to start this water walking stuff!
. Take a deep breath and think of one goal and write it down. What is your vision for your life? What is your calling? What is your purpose? Take 5 minutes right now and write it down somewhere. Anywhere. Even a napkin if you have to! Here is mine – About Me. (P.S. I have been writing for 4 years now and I just wrote this today, lol!)
Get back in the water. It’s really hard to swim on land. Now straighten out your body, take the first stroke forward, and kick your feet. Trust that the rest of you will follow. Yes, God did make these bodies to swim and even float and walk on water! And like Dory says:
I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made.
Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it. – Philippians 3:12-16 MSG
All things are new in Christ. New life, new hope, new ending.
Did you ever wish you could write a new ending to your life story? You can! In Christ all things are made new.
Don’t like your life?
Tired of the craziness?
Weary of guilt and shame?
It doesn’t have to stay this way. There is hope for you and for me. Life is way more than this.
Ask Jesus to help. Invite Him into your mess – He promised to make all things new. He promised to give you peace and abundance.
Let go of the past. That is not who you are anymore. It was – but it is not you anymore. God erased it. It really is finished.
What have you got to lose? I promise – He will do it! If He did it for me He will do it for anyone – including YOU! Jesus came to seek and to save ALL who feel lost.
Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].
But all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ [making us acceptable to Him] and gave us the ministry of reconciliation [so that by our example we might bring others to Him], that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting people’s sins against them [but canceling them]. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation [that is, restoration to favor with God].
So we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His appeal through us; we [as Christ’s representatives] plead with you on behalf of Christ to be reconciled to God. He made Christ who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness]. – 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 AMP
Holidays can be stressful. So much to do, so little time. Why do we do this every year? We are the most over stressed and over worked people in time. Then add a cell phone. Instant access – to everything and everyone – all the time. No wonder we are at our wits end.
Then, just for fun, let’s throw in a family party. Why not? Hey what should we make? Do I need to bake cookies? Truthfully the last few times I tried to bake it was an epic fail. I tried a new banana bread recipe that had oil in it and it just sucked. Then I thought I would “cheat” and buy cookie dough. Hey – who can screw up chocolate chip cookies? Can I tell you they were awful!
Welcome to reality Miss D – you are not a Baker. My kids are awesome Bakers but truthfully I am not. Today I am OK with that. I’m NOT going to bake. I can buy cookies anyway.
Be gentle with yourself this Holiday Season.
You don’t have to do it all.
Let it go, it’s OK to let go of unrealistic expectations for yourself!
I gave up trying to be the “perfect little hostess”. It wasn’t real anyway. This Christmas I am going to enjoy my family and our special moments together – that is what matters the most anyway. God bless you my friends. Love you all, Diana
casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7
You know I am tired. This world is so draining. Sometimes it seems like I am just a rat running circles in a cage. These endless bills and living paycheck to paycheck just sucks. Enlarge my vision Lord. Help me to see what purpose I fulfill here on planet Earth. Show me your glory. I am so hungry for a fresh revelation of You. Make your home in my heart Lord.
You said all who are weary could come to You and You would give us rest. Here I am Lord, fill me with fresh hope and joy. I need You. Only your presence gives me hope to carry on in this world of monotony. Show me your glory Lord.
Have you ever played with a magnet? It draws metal to it by its nature. It doesn’t have to think about it, do something special or do anything to earn it. it just does it, because that is what it was created to do.
Gratitude is a Magnet for Miracles!
Are you grateful today? If not, make a new choice today. Choose gratitude and watch and see what God will do!
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Gratitude dispels fear and anxiety. Gratitude makes room for God to work!

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
