ALTAR OF LOVE

by Downhere

Lay down your weapons
Lay down your violence
Lay down rebellion
Your heart of defiance

Love will ask of you more than truces
If you’re willing to lose
Blessing far outweighs the loss when you lay it all
On the Altar of Love

Lay down your idols
Lay down your possessions
Lay down your shrines and
Your worldly obsessions

Love will ask of you more than treasure
When you’re willing to trust
Blessing far outweighs the loss when you lay it all
You lay it all on the Altar of Love

In the holiest room
Where the curtain was torn
By the ultimate wound

Oh, the Altar of Love
Where the glory resides
For the Father and Son
And the Spirit invite

Oh, the Altar of Love
To its form we are blind
But you know when it’s there
Like the sun through shut eyes

Oh, the Altar of Love
Yes, you come here to die
But you know that it’s good
Cuz you come out alive

Love will ask of you more than you can give
When you’re willing to live
Blessing far outweighs the loss when you lay it all
On the Altar of Love

GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU:

This is My commandment: that you love one another [just] as I have loved you. No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends. You are My friends if you keep on doing the things which I command you to do. (John 15:12-14)

*

Set me like a seal upon your heart, like a seal upon your arm; for love is as strong as death, jealousy is as hard and cruel as Sheol (the place of the dead). Its flashes are flashes of fire, a most vehement flame [the very flame of the Lord]! (Song of Solomon 8:6 AMP)

*

And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint. (Galatians 6:9 AMP)

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,
Forgive us for clinging to worldly things. What we see is temporary, what we do not see is eternal. Today, we lay down our burdens, our troubles, our dreams, our desires – everything we are, and everything we are not –  at Your Altar of Love. Today, we choose You, in Jesus Name.

Let Our Shame Be Undone

Holy Spirit – Jesus Culture

©Bryan and Katie Torwalt 2011

Verse 1
There’s nothing worth more, that will ever come close
No thing can compare, You’re our living hope
Your Presence

Verse 2
I’ve tasted and seen, of the sweetest of Loves
Where my heart becomes free, and my shame is undone
In Your Presence

Chorus
Holy Spirit You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your Glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your Presence Lord

Bridge
Let us become more aware of Your Presence
Let us experience the Glory of Your Goodness

GOD‘S PROMISE TO YOU :

And Moses said, I beseech You, show me Your glory.  And God said, I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim My name, The Lord, before you; for I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy and loving-kindness on whom I will show mercy and loving-kindness. (Exodus 33:18-19 AMP)

The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him,
and he delivers them.
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing. (Psalm 34:7-9 NIV)

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,
Overwhelm us with Your Presence.  Surprise us with Your Goodness.  As we walk along in our day open our senses to be more aware of You.  Your Word says You never leave us, nor forsake us.  Open up our eyes to see You Lord.  Let us hear You rejoice over us with singing. Let us hear You call our names.  We love You Lord. Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere. Let our shame be undone in Your Presence, in Jesus’ Name.

Better Than a Hallelujah

This one made me cry, get the Kleenex first….

BETTER THAN A HALLELUJAH

by Amy Grant

God loves a lullaby
In a mother’s tears in the dead of night
Better than a Hallelujah sometimes

God loves the drunkard’s cry
The soldier’s plea not to let him die
Better than a Hallelujah sometimes

We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful, the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah

The woman holding on for life
The dying man giving up the fight
Are better than a Hallelujah sometimes

The tears of shame for what’s been done
The silence when the words won’t come
Are better than a Hallelujah sometimes

We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful, the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah

Better than a church bell ringing
Better than a choir singing out, singing out

We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful, the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah

We pour out our miseries
God just hears a melody
Beautiful, the mess we are
The honest cries of breaking hearts
Are better than a Hallelujah

(Better than a Hallelujah sometimes)
Better than a Hallelujah
(Better than a Hallelujah sometimes)

Unwritten

When we judge, it’s like putting a period at the end of a sentence that God is still writing.

I have to admit, one thing that drives me up the wall is when people judge. I am not my past, I am not a mistake. Why do people look at me through tainted lenses?  Let me explain.  I ran into  an old “friend” last week.  We haven’t talked in about 4-5 years.  The first thing out of her mouth was “Are you still married?” I think she was shocked when I said yes.  It seems some people just want you to fail.

Then, I had to look at myself.  If I see something in someone else and it bothers me, it may be that I have that same issue.  Do I want myself to fail?  Do I look at myself through my mistakes and failures? Or do I look at myself through the Word?  I have to admit, sometimes I see myself through my failures. Sometimes I think that things will never change.  Once again, I am amazed at how quickly I go back to the old tapes, and beat myself up.  Help us Lord.  Let me not put a period on my life, You are still writing my story…

I like this song Unwritten because it reminds me that my future is yet unwritten.  I don’t need to have all the answers, I can trust God with the end of my story.  Jesus is the Author and Finisher of my faith…

Can’t read my mind
I’m undefined

I’m just beginning
The pen’s in my hand
Ending unplanned”

GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU:

So be merciful (sympathetic, tender, responsive, and compassionate) even as your Father is [all these].

Judge not [neither pronouncing judgment nor subjecting to censure], and you will not be judged; do not condemn and pronounce guilty, and you will not be condemned and pronounced guilty; acquit and forgive and release (give up resentment, let it drop), and you will be acquitted and forgiven and released.

Give, and [gifts] will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will they pour into [the pouch formed by] the bosom [of your robe and used as a bag]. For with the measure you deal out [with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others], it will be measured back to you. (Luke 6: 37-38 AMP)

Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him. After God made that decision of what his children should be like, he followed it up by calling people by name. After he called them by name, he set them on a solid basis with himself. And then, after getting them established, he stayed with them to the end, gloriously completing what he had begun. (Romans 8:28-30 MSG)

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,

Help me see the good in people. Help me see the good in me.  Help me see what You see.  I do not want to throw rocks at your children, or beat myself up with them either.   Let me be slow to speak, and quick to listen.  I trust You to work all things out for my good.  I am not the Savior, and it is not my place to “fix” someone else.  Don’t know about you, but I’m putting down my rocks today. 🙂

HOPE

© 2012 Diana Rasmussen
(PSALM 62/Matt 12/Romans 4)

My soul waits silently for God,
My expectation is from Him.
I pour my heart out before Him,
He is a refuge for me.

His name is the Hope of all the world.
I will trust Him at all times.
He is my rock and my salvation,
I shall not be moved.

Even when there is no reason for hope,
I will keep on believing,
God is more than able,
To do what He says.

I woke up with this song in my head this morning. And the verse “God’s mercies are new every morning”…hmmm.

Sometimes I think I limit God by what my expectations are. I have lived in the chaos (the desert) for so long, that is what I got accustomed to.  It was familiar.  And even though I didn’t like it, I knew what to expect – nothing. When you expect nothing, you get nothing.  Nothing changes, everything stays the same.  Predictable. Boring. Not healthy. Staying in the desert with my victim mentality meant that it was always someone else’s fault. I could blame others for their bad choices while I failed to make any new ones for myself.  I did not take responsibility for my own life – I was too busy telling everyone else what to do.  Then I didn’t have to do anything.  I didn’t have to change, or make a new choice. I learned this was ‘criminal thinking’ at its best.  And I was robbing myself of a better future.

There are times when you are at the edge of a new season, and you admit to yourself that you can’t go back. But you are hesitant to go forward. Almost like time has stopped. And then

I heard the car door slam, and immediately looked at the clock.

from free-hdwallpapers.com

I am still here.  Time has not stopped. I survived.  My life will go on. I don’t need all the answers to take the next step forward. It will be ok.  Today is the day to say “Yes” to God.  I choose to be healed.  I will be made whole. God promised to help me, so I am going to let Him.

In the valley of decision, I admit that my hope is not based on my ability, nor the things others do or don’t do. My hope is not based on my failures.  My hope is not based on my past abuse.  I am no longer a victim. I can make a new choice.  I will get up.  My hope today is anchored in what the Word says

GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU:

hope

” My soul, wait only upon God and silently submit to Him; for my hope and expectation are from Him.  He only is my Rock and my Salvation; He is my Defense and my Fortress, I shall not be moved”.  (Psalm 62:5-6)

It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not.

They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness.

The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him. (Lamentations 3:22-24 AMP)

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27 NIV)

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for slamming the car door and waking us up.  Thank you for shaking what can be shaken to see what remains in our lives.  We admit, we have tried to live without You, and it hasn’t worked.  You are our Hope, show us a new way Lord. We choose to trust in You. Refresh our souls. Renew our minds.  Restore our lives, in Jesus’ Name.
