I remember a season of sickness. Â There were 2 car accidents, a slip on the ice with a back injury, 2 girl surgeries, and a broken leg. Sounds like ‘a partridge in a pear tree song’! Â Have you ever gone through that season? Â It seems like no matter what is going on, you are out for the count. Â I had been to the Dr, the Chiropractor, and had all kinds of pain meds. Â But all they did was make me nauseous. Â I got frustrated. Â I was angry. Â I hated it. Â I had to slow down. Â Yep – almost killed me! Â But I learned something. Â Something I need to share today.
I had two choices – give up, or give God a chance.
Yep, came down to my last choice – why is that? idk, human nature I guess. Â I thought I had this healing thing all figured out. I mean, really, I had like 20 books about it. Â I had read parts of all of them. Â Yep, lots of ‘head knowledge’, but no idea how to apply it. Â But there was my mistake = “I” had it all figured out, yeah right. Â My best thinking and plans got me nowhere. Â Still flat on my stomach with back spasms. Â Did my exercises, took my meds, still no healing. ugggh!
I don’t believe God brings sickness.  The Bible does not teach that.  In fact everyone who came to JESUS got healed – he healed them ALL.  So, I did my homework.  What does God’s Word say about healing? Is there power in the WORD to make me better? Could my reading this WORD out loud over my body help?  Would my body follow what the WORD said? What did I have to lose.  Nothing.  So I tried it.  I got out my books and  GOOGLE and printed me out some HEALING VERSES.  Spoke them out loud while I was laying on my stomach with back spasms.  Spoke them when I was in the wheelchair, spoke them while I was on crutches, and then the cane.  And now I can walk.  And no more back pain – thank you Jesus!
I had to learn to keep my mouth shut too. Â That was a hard one for Ms. D. Â When someone asked ‘How are you doing?’ Â I would NOT say the first thing that came to my head. Â I would speak IN FAITH, ” I am great, I am getting better everyday,” even though my body still hurt at the time. Â I learned the hard way that whatever I am feeding will grow. Â If I feed my pain, I get more. Â If I feed my healing I get more. Â I also memorized a few scripture verses, Â and would answer with them,. “By His stripes I am healed.” or “Jesus is healing me right now.” Â God’s Word became the Authority in my life – if He said I could be well, well than dang it, I can be well. Â God doesn’t lie.
And another toughie for Ms. D, I had to let other people pray for me. Â I am a stubborn woman, ask my kids or husband. Â I wanted to do it myself, thank you very much. Â But alas, I think that Spirit of Pride and Independence and doing things my way or the highway was wrong. Â That’s what I learned I guess. Â God’s Word heals, God hears my prayers, God answers my prayers, and He uses the prayers of His people to heal others. And there is power in His Word. Â And I learned that He loves me, and wants me to be well.
Now I am not an expert, I don’t know everything, God does. Â This has just been my experience. Â What about you?

Jeremiah 17:14

Matthew 8:5-17
When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.  “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering.”  Jesus said to him, “I will go and heal him.”  The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.  For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”  When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, “I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.  I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.  But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”  Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! It will be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that very hour.  When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.  He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.  When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.  This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases.” -
Matthew 9:35
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. -
Mark 5:34
He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” -
Luke 8:43-48
And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her.  She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.   “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.”  But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”  Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed.  Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” -
Luke 8:49-56
While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher any more.”  Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”  When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother.  Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.”  They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.  But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!”  Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.  Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened. -
Revelation 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” -
James 5:16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. -
1 Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Here’s another one: Luke 4:18, 19. This was how Jesus introduced His ministry. Because we’re in 2013 A.D., that makes this 2013 Anno Domini…the Year of the Lord. The year of the Lord’s favor (aka “the acceptable year of the Lord). Things are looking good for you!
