You Are Amazing – Remember That

We may not feel amazing. We may not look amazing right at this moment. But that is not what matters. God says we ARE Amazing! We are created by His hand, and everything God touches is BEAUTIFUL! It really doesn’t matter what others say about us. What is true is what God says. And He doesn’t make junk!

 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you. (Psalm 139:13-18 NKJV)

Our attitudes are our choice. We can make a new choice today and choose to trust God even when we don’t understand everything that is going on.

Are You Willing to Look Ridiculous?

Yesterday Pastor Mike Batinich from Janesville Apostolic Ministries shared an awesome message on the joy of the Lord. He shared the difference between joy and happiness. We can still have the joy of the Lord even if we are facing difficult circumstances. We may not be happy about something – yet the joy of the Lord will pull us through it. Here are some of the Scriptures he shared today:

Then Nehemiah, who was the ruler, and Ezra the religious leader and writer, and the Levites who taught the people, said to all of them, “This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not cry or be filled with sorrow.” For all the people were crying when they heard the words of the Law.
Ezra said to them, “Go, eat and drink what you enjoy, and give some to him who has nothing ready. For this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be sad for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
So the Levites made all the people quiet, saying, “Be quiet, for this is a holy day. Do not be sad.”

And all the people went away to eat and drink, to share what they had, and to show their joy. They understood the words which had been made known to them -Nehemiah 8:9-12

And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. – Acts  13:52

for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. -Romans 14:17

And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. -1 John 1:4

So, it got to Alter Call and my husband and I are blessed to play music. We played “There is Joy in the Lord” and then a Medley I put together including “Trading My Sorrows, This Joy that I Have, and “I Get Joy.” When I heard the last two songs God asked me if I was willing to look ridiculous! And hey, you know me…it was a YES!

This joy that I have, the World didn’t give it to me

This joy that I have, the World didn’t give it to me

This joy that I have, the World didn’t give it to me

The World didn’t give it so the World can’t take it away!

I get joy when I think about what He’s done for me,

I get joy when I think about what He’s done for me,

I get joy when I think about what He’s done for me,

When I think of what He’s done for me

So I left the platform, got the two tambourines, and danced before the Lord. Was it comfortable – NO! I could feel the sneers of some laughing at me. But God had asked me to do it. So I did. Then, as Bob kept playing, I handed off the tambourines to two other women and asked them to help me ‘break through this’. They as well, joined me in the dance. Thank you Lord for people willing to get up and break out of the normal and rejoice before you! I had a blast and I am still dancing in my spirit. The heaviness I had before Church is gone.

So, my challenge to you this week – are you willing to look ridiculous if God asks? What if it meant that the heaviness would leave you?

Here’s some tunes to dance to – rejoice!

Cleaning House By Breaking Generational Curses

I recently had a Pastor from another country ask me about breaking Generational Curses. There is varying teaching out there on this subject and I confess I am no expert. So I do what I always do – search it out.  I truly believe that God has given us the Holy Spirit to change the course of our families. Time and time again there was a King in the Old Testament that did not follow God, but in the next Generation his son turned back to the Lord. God is a Redeemer and I believe He can redeem our past, our present, and our future – and the same for our families. God isn’t on the same time table as we are. He is not limited. He can do all things.

  • What if God has called you to break and destroy all the generational curses that have plagued your family?

  • Would you do it?

  • Would you ask the Lord to forgive the sins of your fathers and the sins of your children?

  • Would you stand in the gap like Moses did for your family?

  • Would you stand in the gap for your Church family and all the followers of Christ?

I believe the only thing that can break a Generational Curse is applying the Blood of Jesus. It is His Blood that has the Power to break curses. He became the curse so that we would not have to bear it. I wrote about this in one of my Spring Training Posts – Breaking Generational Curses.

GOD’S WORD FOR YOU:

Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified); To the end that through [their receiving] Christ Jesus, the blessing [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit. (Galatians 3:13-14 AMP)

The blood shall be for a token or sign to you upon [the doorposts of] the houses where you are, [that] when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12:!3 AMP)

And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]. (Revelation 12:11 AMP)

Here are some great teachings on how to clean house and break those curses by Pastor Bev Tucker from Life Church in IL.

Let God Arise

When life gets crazy there is one thing that gives me peace. God knows. God sees. And He will make something good out of anything. Because He is goodness. He is kindness.

So I can either worry or pray. Today I choose to pray. Do not forget who you are – children of the Most High God! God knows what is going on. Let’s pour our heart out to Him and set our gaze upon Him. Then watch and see what He does as God arises over our lives!

God’s Word for You:
And the Lord shall be King over all the earth. In that day there shall be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped. -Zechariah 14:9 TLB

But you are not like that, for you have been chosen by God himself—you are priests of the King, you are holy and pure, you are God’s very own—all this so that you may show to others how God called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were less than nothing; now you are God’s own. Once you knew very little of God’s kindness; now your very lives have been changed by it. -1 Peter 2:9-10

My Prayer for You:

Dear Lord,

Arise over us. Let your Word come to pass in our lives. We put our trust in You in the midst of this messy world. We choose to trust You today above all things in Jesus Name.

Renew Our Minds to Heal Mental Illness

After my post yesterday on the prevalence of Mental Illness in this Nation, I feel compelled to share the only way that I have found to renew my mind. You see, I could relate to that girl.(Here is the post – THE SEMICOLON PROJECT)  I have had those self-destructive thoughts in my mind for years. I hated those thoughts. And I know they are NOT from God. God is not out to destroy me, the Enemy is. The Enemy has come to kill, steal, and destroy. Jesus has come to give us life and life more abundantly.

I have tried the ‘psychology’ fixes to change my thoughts. I have read almost every self-help book out there. But that did not quiet the thoughts in my head.

The only thing that has renewed my mind and shut up the destructive thoughts is the WORD OF GOD.

Think of your house.

You don’t let any old person in do you?

Just because they come to the door does not mean they get to come in and sit down on your couch and move in right?

The same is true with our thoughts. Just because a thought comes to the door does not mean we have to let it in.

Every thought we get to ‘take captive’ and test.

Is that thought true?

Is that thought what God says about me?

Is that thought out to destroy me?

If it is not true or destructive we can close the door and not let it in our house. Instead we can think on good things. God says we are good. God says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. God says that He has a plan and He will never leave us or forsake us. God speaks Truth, and those thoughts bouncing around may be LIES. Don’t let them in.

That is how we renew our minds and heal our mental illness, one thought at a time with the Word of God.

Bible Verses on Renewing Your Mind

And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], (Ephesians 4:23 AMP)

For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), (2 Corinthians 5:3-5 AMP)

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God,even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. (Romans 12:2 AMP)

For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]. (Philippians 4:8 AMP)

10 Quotes on Christian Spirituality

I could not find one source that agreed on what the definition of Spirituality is. Even Wikipedia says:

  1. There is no single, agreed-upon definition of spirituality. Surveys of the definition of the term, as used in scholarly research, show a broad range of definitions, with very limited similitude. It may denote almost any kind of meaningful activity or blissful experience.

Here is the summary from Dictionay.com

adjective
1.of, relating to, or consisting of spirit; incorporeal.
2.of or relating to the spirit or soul, as distinguished from the physical nature:
3.closely akin in interests, attitude, outlook, etc.:
4. of or relating to spirits or to spiritualists; supernatural or spiritualistic.
5. characterized by or suggesting predominance of the spirit; ethereal or delicately refined:
6. of or relating to the spirit as the seat of the moral or religious nature.
7. of or relating to sacred things or matters; religious; devotional; sacred.
8. of or belonging to the church; ecclesiastical:
9. of or relating to the mind or intellect.

You know me, I am a Christian. I think Spirituality is not even possible without the Holy Spirit. Without the guiding and direction of the Holy Spirit, I would have followed any’ ole spirit that came along. Wait a minute, I did!

Yes, there are many ‘religions’ out there. People try all sorts of things to find peace. I know, I did it too.

Truthfully,  I really didn’t have any direction before I came to the Lord. I meandered from relationship to relationship, and from state to state. Constantly looking for peace and the ability to live in my own skin.

After my 3rd divorce I had to admit I was following the wrong spirits. I had to admit that I needed healing and help. And I was allowing people to treat me like a doormat. No more!

I took a year off from dating and spent time with God. I prayed, read the Word, and wrote Scripture verses on index cards to memorize the Word. I had to replace the lies in my mind with truth.

Only the Word has helped heal me. It is powerful! Jesus is real. Ask The Father for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Gods power in you – to overcome!

So for me, the definition of Spirituality is “the working of the Holy Spirit within  you.”

10 QUOTES ON CHRISTIAN SPIRITUALITY

  1. “The greatest disease in the West today is not TB or leprosy; it is being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for. We can cure physical diseases with medicine, but the only cure for loneliness, despair, and hopelessness is love. There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a little love. The poverty in the West is a different kind of poverty — it is not only a poverty of loneliness but also of spirituality. There’s a hunger for love, as there is a hunger for God.” ― Mother Teresa, A Simple Path: Mother Teresa
  2. “As I stumble through this life help me to create more laughter than tears, dispense more cheer than gloom, spread more joy than despair. Never let me become so indifferent that I will fail to see the wonder in the eyes of a child, or the twinkle in the eyes of the aged. Never let me forget that my total effort is to cheer people, make them happy, and forget momentarily all the unpleasantness in their lives. And in my final moment, may I hear You whisper, ‘When you made My people smile, you made Me smile.” ― Nancy Mehl, Blown Away
  3. “We need never shout across the spaces to an absent God. He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thoughts” ― A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God
  4. “What you are is God’s gift to you, what you become is your gift to God.” ― Hans Urs von Balthasar, Prayer
  5. “True faith means holding nothing back. It means putting every hope in God’s fidelity to His Promises.” ― Francis Chan, Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God
“Remember as you go about your day that you may be the only Jesus some of your friends, neighbors, and family will ever see.” ― Wanda E. Brunstetter, A Celebration of the Simple Life
  6. “One of the most spiritual things you can do is embrace your humanity. Connect with those around you today. Say, “I love you”, “I’m sorry”, “I appreciate you”, “I’m proud of you”…whatever you’re feeling. Send random texts, write a cute note, embrace your truth and share it…cause a smile today for someone else…and give plenty of hugs.” ― Steve Maraboli
  7. “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.” ― John Wesley
  8. “Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
    Where there is injury, pardon;
    Where there is doubt, faith;
    Where there is despair, hope;
    Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.” ― Francis of Assisi
  9. “Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song.” ― Pope John Paul II
  10. “Help” is a prayer that is always answered. It doesn’t matter how you pray–with your head bowed in silence, or crying out in grief, or dancing. Churches are good for prayer, but so are garages and cars and mountains and showers and dance floors. Years ago I wrote an essay that began, “Some people think that God is in the details, but I have come to believe that God is in the bathroom.” ― Anne Lamott, Plan B: Further Thoughts on Faith

God is a Spirit

The Life of an Artist

The life of an Artist. It’s not easy. We are determined to share, our thoughts, our creations, our songs. Because that is when we feel alive. We live and breathe to share.  We couldn’t bottle it up if we tried. It would be like shaking a soda bottle and watching it explode. The top would blow off. That is what it’s like if we don’t share.Artist

Truthfully, you don’t even have to like it. You don’t even have to pay us for it. We will share for free, because that is how we feel alive. We are creating – something. Just like God created us. He pours into us and we have to pour it out or we will overflow! God is the Master Artist. And He created everything with the Word. He spoke it and it came to be.

In the beginning God CREATED the Heavens and the Earth. Good news – the Creator of the Universe lives in you! Let the creative out of you, make it, sing it, paint it, write it  – go have some fun! 😉

Got Real Faith?

I read this on FB last night and it really opened up my eyes to what real faith looks like. And truthfully,  how selfish I have been. Why do we humans always think everything is about us? How much faith we have or don’t have, how much we do this or don’t do that, etc. Then we ‘measure’ ourselves against others and what they are doing or not doing. Uggggh – no wonder I missed the boat!

What if Real Faith was not about us –

but about His faith for us?

I found Pastor J.S. Park  here at WordPress and he always makes me think. (Click on his name to see his blog) I mean just look at his blog and byline:

“Atheist Turned Pastor: A Blog For Busted-Up, Beat-Down Christians (Like Me)”

I want to read more already!

What if faith is not based on the strength of your belief, but in The One who gave you that faith?

What if faith is not based on the amount you know, but in The One who knows you?

What if faith that is even feeble weak dried up half-steps towards Him is just enough for the next step?

What if faith is not measured in religious metrics like Bible-reading and church attendance and prayer time and loud singing, but in your messy love for Him and the people He has made?

What if faith was not about the mountains you could shake, but about the Son who climbed a hill with a cross to save you?

What if faith was preached in the pulpit not as a critical barometer of your works, but as the source we draw from for the work itself?

What if faith is just dang difficult, and God knew that, so He sent His Son who welcomed all doubts, questions, and confusion, and became the answer on a cross?

— J.S.

Yes, faith is that sloppy, messy, wet kiss. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we don’t see. That force that is alive and moving between us and God. It brings us hope when we run out. Faith connects us to God – like WiFi!

Stand Up and Be Strong

It has been said that as a man thinks he is in his heart, so he is. If you think you are a victim, and refuse to take a step forward, you might stay a victim. Overcoming this mentality has taken me years. After living in domestic violence for years I had given away all my power – to the Abuser. It didn’t happen all at once, it was a little at a time. I worshipped him. I did whatever he said, or else I had to “pay the price”. I thought he would change. I was wrong. He didn’t want to change. It was me that neede to change. I had allowed myself to remain in an unsafe situation for too long.

I had to learn a new way to think. My thinker was broken. This was the first step for me in becoming whole. In my “infinite wisdom” I sought out self-help books. I had a whole library! Years later, I had to admit that my self-help was no help. In fact I got even more depressed.

i went to counselor after counselor next. Yes, this helped, but it always keep me living in the past and rehashing everything. I wanted a future! This was not my answer either.

Then I tried the 12 step meetings. Now maybe your experience was different, but mine was a nightmare. I was so naive. I really believed everything people said. Needless to say, after another 10 years of my life passed me by and another failed marriage, I left. Not everyone that goes to those meetings wants to get well. Some want to stay sick and use the meetings to justify their bad behavior. Lesson learned.

It wasn’t until I learned about Jesus and who he truly was the things started to change for me. Reading the Word and memorizing verses literally renewed my mind. Really, it was the only way that I learned how to stand up for myself and my children and be strong.

Today I am no longer a victim. I am victorious in Christ. And I and my kids are free from living in violence. Yes, it took time. But it was worth it. And I am not the same person I used to be. I am not a doormat. I am blessed, and loved, and cherished, and precious – and so are you.

There is a way out if you are living in domestic violence. Take a step and tell someone what is really going on behind closed doors at your house. You are worth it, whether the Abuser thinks so or not. He’s a liar anyway, don’t believe the garbage that comes out of his mouth. God is faithful and true, and He will sing over you!

His Yoke is Easy

Rest my child. Come to Papa God. Rest in the loving arms of Jesus. His yoke is easy and He will give you rest.  Come away to a quiet place today.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-10 NKJ

God is greater – greater than whatever we are facing today. He is greater than fear, greater than disease, greater than lack, greater than our jobs, our money, or any other thing that may try to lead us astray. God is greater than any devil, any curse, or any witchcraft. He is even greater than our hearts. His plans for us are even better than the ones we have for ourselves.

Let’s bring him our baggage, our doubts, our shame – and leave it at the cross of Calvary. He paid for it. He doesn’t want us to try and carry it all on our own anyway. He is greater!

GREATER

By MercyMe

Bring your tired
And bring your shame
Bring your guilt
And bring your pain
Don’t you know that’s not you’re name
You will always be much more to me

Every day I wrestle with the voices
That keep telling me I’m not right
But that’s alright

‘Cause I hear a voice and He calls me redeemed
When others say I’ll never be enough
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world
In the world
In the world
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world

Bring your doubts
And bring your fears
Bring your hurt
And bring your tears
There’ll be no condemnation here
You are holy, righteous and redeemed

Every time I fall
There’ll be those who will call me
A mistake
Well that’s OK

‘Cause I hear a voice and He calls me redeemed
When others say I’ll never be enough
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world
In the world
In the world
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world

(He’s Greater, He’s Greater)

There’ll be days I lose the battle
Grace says that it doesn’t matter
‘Cause the cross already won the war
He’s Greater, He’s Greater

I am learning to run freely
Understanding just how He sees me
And it makes me love Him more and more
He’s Greater, He’s Greater

There’ll be days I lose the battle
Grace says that it doesn’t matter
‘Cause the cross already won the war
He’s Greater, He’s Greater

I am learning to run freely
Understanding just how He sees me
And it makes me love Him more and more
He’s Greater, He’s Greater

‘Cause I hear a voice and He calls me redeemed
When others say I’ll never be enough
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world
In the world
In the world
And greater is the One living inside of me
Than he who is living in the world

There’ll be days I lose the battle
Grace says that it doesn’t matter
‘Cause the cross already won the war
He’s Greater, He’s Greater

I am learning to run freely
Understanding just how He sees me
And it makes me love Him more and more
My God is greater (He’s Greater, He’s Greater)
Than he who is living in the world

P.U.S.H is Pray Until Something Happens

We have this great banner at church that says

P.U.S.H. – Pray Until Something Happens

push

I certainly appreciate your prayers this month. I am grateful for brothers and sisters who know how to pray. There are times when we can stand together and petition Heaven with our prayers. God is faithful, He hears, He listens, and He answers. His timing is not always our timing. And His ways are not our ways. Like so many of you, I am trusting Him, leaning on Him, depending on Him in those places where I cannot see. Thank you for your prayers, I am praying for you too!

If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.(John 14:14 NKJV)

QUOTES ABOUT PRAYER

Pray without ceasing. ― 1 Thessalonians 5:17

“Prayer is not asking. Prayer is putting oneself in the hands of God, at His disposition, and listening to His voice in the depth of our hearts.” ― Mother Teresa

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. ― Philippians 4:6Prayer

“Let us never forget to pray. God lives. He is near. He is real. He is not only aware of us but cares for us. He is our Father. He is accessible to all who will seek Him.” ― Gordon B. Hinckley, Standing for Something: 10 Neglected Virtues That Will Heal Our Hearts and Homes

“Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one’s weakness. It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. ― Luke 11:9

“I have been driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had no where else to go. My own wisdom and that of all about me seemed insufficient for that day.” ― Abraham Lincoln

“Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one” ― Bruce Lee

“The more you pray, the less you’ll panic. The more you worship, the less you worry. You’ll feel more patient and less pressured.” ― Rick Warren, The Purpose of Christmas

“May God break my heart so completely that the whole world falls in.” ― Mother Teresa

“Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved, as to love.

BROTHER

By NEED TO BREATHE

Ramblers in the wilderness we can’t find what we need
Get a little restless from the searching
Get a little worn down in between
Like a bull chasing the matador is the man left to his own schemes
Everybody needs someone beside em’ shining like a lighthouse from the sea

Brother let me be your shelter
I’ll never leave you all alone
I can be the one you call
When you’re low
Brother let me be your fortress
When the night winds are driving on
Be the one to light the way
Bring you home

Face down in the desert now there’s a cage locked around my heart
I found a way to drop the keys where my failures were
Now my hands can’t reach that far
I ain’t made for a robbery I could never take the world alone
I know that in my weakness I am stronger
It’s your love that brings me home

Brother let me be your shelter
I’ll never leave you all alone
I can be the one you call
When you’re low
Brother let me be your fortress
When the night winds are driving on
Be the one to light the way
Bring you home

Brother let me be your shelter
Never leave you all alone
I can be the one you call
When you’re low
Brother let me be your fortress
When the night winds are driving on
Be the one to light the way
Bring you home

Brother let me be your shelter
Never leave you all alone
I can be the one you call
When you’re feeling low
Brother let me be your fortress
When the night winds are driving on
Be the one to light the way
Bring you home

Brother let me be your shelter
Never leave you all alone
I can be the one you call
When you’re low
Brother let me be your fortress
When the night winds are driving on
Be the one to light the way
Bring you home

Brother let me be your shelter
Brother let me be your shelter
Brother let me be your shelter
Brother let me be your shelter
Brother let me be your shelter

Fix it From the Other Side

We have this temperamental riding lawn mower. This past week the mowing deck got stuck up. It would not lower down. It was stuck.  My husband did what he always did, went to one side of the mower and tried to release the pulley. It did not let go and did not go down.  Then, a moment of inspiration.

So, he went to the other side of the mower and yanked on the deck. Guess what? It released and came down.

That got me thinking.

  • How many times have I tried to ‘fix myself’ and ‘fix others’ in my own strength?
  • How many times do I keep trying to do things the same old way I always have?
  • How many times do I criticize myself  because I am a not ‘perfect little Christian’?
  • How many times do I focus on my sin and not my Savior?
  • How many times have I chosen not to show grace and mercy?

Sometimes you have to fix it from the other side. I believe that once I confess these things, the Lord will change my heart and fix it from the other side. He has to change it. All my willpower and ‘want to’ will not do it. My self-righteousness is like filthy rags. Yes, I struggle. I think we all do. We all have our thorns – those things that bother us again and again. But God is greater than our hearts. And He is able to help. This only brought more questions:

  • And what about when people get sick and are not healed?
  • What about when someone dies prematurely?
  • What about suicide?
  • What about all those things that don’t make sense here on Earth?

Maybe GOD WILL FIX IT ON THE OTHER SIDE – in Heaven.

There is no sickness, no tears, and streets of gold.

GOD’S WORD FOR YOU:

God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and death shall be no more, neither shall there be anguish (sorrow and mourning) nor grief nor pain any more, for the old conditions and the former order of things have passed away. (Revelation 21:4 AMP)

I [the Lord] will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. (Psalm 32:8 AMP)

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,

We confess we try too hard in our own strength. We confess that we are our own worst enemies sometimes. Forgive us for criticizing what you have made – us. And for trying to ‘fix it’ ourselves. Thank you Lord that you can fix it from the other side. Today we choose to trust You and Your ways – even if it doesn’t make sense to us. Thank you Lord for creating a new heart within us and turning our hearts back to You, in Jesus Name.
