Looks like a Storm Brewin Ma

imageDid you ever feel like something is coming?

Do you expect it to be good or bad?

I have to admit, My first thought is not always positive.  Just being honest.  I am so used to things going badly that I come to expect it. In fact I have even been known to throw the first shoe,  so to speak.  I used to do this a lot.  We all know what buttons to push to get someone going.  If you have ever lived in an abusive relationship you learn that during the tension-building phase, we survivors would sometimes start the argument just to get it over with.  Same as when you are living with someone in addiction.  You know what’s coming, so you would rather just get it over with.  Not the best coping mechanism Ms. D.  But in those days, it was survival.  Old thoughts, old expectations, and I am still carrying them.  Trying to get to the next place in my life.  But they are too heavy, and not meant to go with me.

I have been in the desert too long. But just like Moses and all those Israelites in the wilderness, I have these old thought patterns that are no longer useful.  I am at the edge of the Promised Land, but I have to leave my “Desert Mentality” in the Desert before I can cross that River!  Ugggh!  Renew my mind Lord.  Let good come out of all those years in the desert!

Perhaps when those storm clouds are brewing, something good is coming – like rain!  Rain of blessings, rain of Holy Spirit, rain of renewal and growth and new life!

God’s Promise to You:

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
    of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1 NIV)

*

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
 in all your ways submit to him,
    and he will make your paths straight.

Do not be wise in your own eyes;
    fear the Lord and shun evil.

 This will bring health to your body
    and nourishment to your bones. (Proverbs 3: 5-8 NIV)

*

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
    In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.
    What can mere mortals do to me? (Psalm 56: 3-4 NIV)

My Prayer for You:

Dear Lord,
Forgive us for expecting the worst.  Forgive us for our “desert mentality”.  We admit, we don’t know it all.  You are a good God, and a rewarder to those who diligently seek you.  Let our endings be better than our beginnings.  Your plans are much bigger and better than our bad experiences or our bad expectations.  Today, we drop the bags of bad expectations and bad experiences and let us expect GOOD to come our way, in Jesus Name.

Here is some Sunshine for you!

  1. This is so good. It is work to change those old patterns of thought and action, but well worth the effort.
