A Gift to us from Maria (www.christianfantasyforwomen.com)

I totally love Maria’s poem “An Allegory of Love and Hate”. I have felt both of these emotions, and sometimes at the same time! Check it out for yourself…

When we judge, it’s like putting a period at the end of a sentence that God is still writing.

I have to admit, one thing that drives me up the wall is when people judge. I am not my past, I am not a mistake. Why do people look at me through tainted lenses?  Let me explain.  I ran into  an old “friend” last week.  We haven’t talked in about 4-5 years.  The first thing out of her mouth was “Are you still married?” I think she was shocked when I said yes.  It seems some people just want you to fail.

Then, I had to look at myself.  If I see something in someone else and it bothers me, it may be that I have that same issue.  Do I want myself to fail?  Do I look at myself through my mistakes and failures? Or do I look at myself through the Word?  I have to admit, sometimes I see myself through my failures. Sometimes I think that things will never change.  Once again, I am amazed at how quickly I go back to the old tapes, and beat myself up.  Help us Lord.  Let me not put a period on my life, You are still writing my story…

I like this song Unwritten because it reminds me that my future is yet unwritten.  I don’t need to have all the answers, I can trust God with the end of my story.  Jesus is the Author and Finisher of my faith…

So be merciful (sympathetic, tender, responsive, and compassionate) even as your Father is [all these].

Judge not [neither pronouncing judgment nor subjecting to censure], and you will not be judged; do not condemn and pronounce guilty, and you will not be condemned and pronounced guilty; acquit and forgive and release (give up resentment, let it drop), and you will be acquitted and forgiven and released.

Give, and [gifts] will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will they pour into [the pouch formed by] the bosom [of your robe and used as a bag]. For with the measure you deal out [with the measure you use when you confer benefits on others], it will be measured back to you. (Luke 6: 37-38 AMP)

Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him. After God made that decision of what his children should be like, he followed it up by calling people by name. After he called them by name, he set them on a solid basis with himself. And then, after getting them established, he stayed with them to the end, gloriously completing what he had begun. (Romans 8:28-30 MSG)

Dear Lord,

Help me see the good in people. Help me see the good in me.  Help me see what You see.  I do not want to throw rocks at your children, or beat myself up with them either.   Let me be slow to speak, and quick to listen.  I trust You to work all things out for my good.  I am not the Savior, and it is not my place to “fix” someone else.  Don’t know about you, but I’m putting down my rocks today. 🙂

This is in response to the Daily Post

It’s Valentine’s Day, so write an ode to someone or something you love. Bonus points for poetry!

You Said You Loved Me – I Guess You Lied

broken heart

OK, Valentines day is tomorrow.  The Hallmark Holiday that reminds all of us who have been heartbroken that we got lied to.  Thanks.  So glad we get to celebrate that one!

Anyway, this post is only for those who have a sense of humor, and are not afraid of the truth.  If you want to keep your pretty little vision of Valentine’s Day and little red hearts then stop reading here. I can attest that love doesn’t grow on trees.

Some of us have been lied to. Some of us have been betrayed – by people who SAID they loved us.  So, this post is raw feelings unleashed.  Take what you like and leave the rest.

BE-TRAY (be·trayed, be·tray·ing, be·trays)

* To give aid or information to an enemy of; commit treason against: betray one’s country.
* To deliver into the hands of an enemy in violation of a trust or allegiance: betrayed Christ to the Romans.
* To be false or disloyal to: betrayed their cause; betray one’s better nature.
* To divulge in a breach of confidence: betray a secret.
* To make known unintentionally: Her hollow laugh betrayed her contempt for the idea.
* To reveal against one’s desire or will.
* To lead astray; deceive.

Synonyms: Judas kiss, deception, dishonesty, double-crossing, double-dealing, duplicity, falseness, giveaway, let-down, perfidy, sellout, treachery, treason, trickery, unfaithfulness

also Deception = misleading; being dishonest

and Desertion = abandonment

b heart 6Why did I say all that?  To expose the enemy. If it’s one thing I have learned in my journey to wellness, is that you cannot believe everything that a person tells you. I was just looking for love, and commitment, and honesty. They said they loved me.  Their actions proved that was a lie.  I was so naive…I bought into so many lies. And I paid the price for it. Sleeping with the enemy leaves you empty, hollow, angry, afraid, depressed and suicidal.

Yes, I have been deceived, lied to, betrayed, and abandoned.  And I know I am not alone. There are a lot of “pretty people” sitting in the pews on Sunday who are hiding things. Some will talk about it, and share their journey, others will not.

So I guess today, I needed to share what love is NOT. “You are only as sick as your secrets”, is what I heard once – so true. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, here is a song/poem I wrote. I haven’t recorded it – I’m afraid my kids would shoot me!

It’s a good day to shoot my ex,

I have a 12-gage shotgun in the bed of my truck.

I’m tired of waitin’ for my child support check,

I’m gonna pretend he’s a 12 point buck.

He’s paradin’ around town with his new girlfriend,

feedin, her the same lies over again.

He’s spendin’ her money like its goin’ out of style,

Honey, he ain’t paid the old bills yet.

He comes to the kids games – pretends everything is alright,

But I’ve got the red cross-hairs pointed at his face.

I’m tired of the bullshit, weary of the lies,

Yes, it’s a good day to shoot my ex.

(Disclaimer: I do not recommend doing this, I have not, nor do I plan to do this.

“laugh or cry” is my motto!.)

And yes, I have forgiven my ex’s, past boyfriends, and my past “best” friends.  But forgiveness doesn’t mean that it was right – what happened was wrong.  It lead to me feeling only more worthless, useless, and empty. I had to give God the hate I had towards them or it would have consumed me.  I have ‘shaken the dust off of my feet” so to speak on that one.

Live and learn I guess. I survived. Yes, years of therapy, antidepressants, meetings, and lots of prayer.  I have to say that only my relationship with Jesus has taught me what love really looks like.  And I found His Words in the Bible.

I sure do give God a lot to work with…glad He’s a big God!  Thanks for ‘listening”…

b heart 7

I first saw this video about 5 years ago. There are many versions on the web, but all the same message…

It is rather “haunting” – but true…

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. ”  (Matthew 11:28-29 AMP)

A Psalm of David; when he was in the Wilderness of Judah.

O God, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is. So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory. Because Your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.”(Psalm 61:1-3)

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding.

He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound].

Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted;

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. (Isaiah 40:28-31)

Dear Lord,

We confess, we have put other things above spending time with You.  We confess, we have built idols of knowledge for our own pleasure.  Forgive us Lord, and purify us from all unrighteousness.  We know You are for us, and You are the source of all good things – even wisdom and knowledge.  We turn back to You today, in Jesus’ name.

Life is War

“Until you know life is war,

you cannot know what to pray for”

John Piper

Prayer warrior“Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.”(Ephesians 6:13 MSG)

Embracing Our Brokenness

b heart 6

This world is broken, it is not what it was supposed to be.  People are broken, they sometimes choose to do evil. Innocent people get hurt. And I am broken.  There are pieces of me all over the place some days. Like shattered glass, all over the floor. “How did this happen?”, I ask myself.  This isn’t how it was supposed to be.  Can you relate?

Honestly, there are days I read some of your posts and just cry. I am so humbled by your hearts. And your openness to talk about it.  I know a lot of us do this for healing; to put our thoughts and hearts on “paper”.  It helps sort it all out.  But sometimes even knowing the “why” doesn’t fix it.  The brokenness is still there.

Yes, I know we can pray, and that God can heal. I could even give you a verse or two if you really wanted me to.   I guess what I am weary of, is ignoring my shadow.  Even when the sun shines, my shadow is still there. That’s the part of me that doesn’t want to do what God wants –  or even wants to do what I want.  That is the part of me that NEEDS God’s grace, – His unmerited favor.  And that is the part that NEEDS God’s mercy – not getting what I deserve.  And that is the part that NEEDS  God’s forgiveness.  I am not perfect.  I am broken.  How can I ask God to heal what I won’t even admit exists?

When I see your brokenness, it allows me to feel mine.  I can identify with your pain.  I have felt it in me – only I ignored it. I can say that you really get good at hiding it in some Christian circles, and in some families too. And I guess with friends, work, everywhere.  We put on “masks” and play “chameleons”.  Then someone asks you “How are you?” And you say “fine”.

You know what that stands for?

FINE =  F***ked Up, Insane, Neurotic, and Emotional”

It is not my job to fix your pain,  nor is it your job to fix mine.  There are some things that only God can heal.  And yes, He can, and He does.  But He’s not finished with us yet….the painting isn’t done yet….a work I progress, as they say.

“When I can embrace my own brokenness,

I can identify with yours.

Ministry is sharing, not dominating;

Understanding, not theologizing;

Caring, not fixing.”

(From Brennan Manning book: Abba’s Child)

So, I guess tonight I just wanted to thank you all.  You have touched my heart with your lives, your blogs, your challenges, and your victories.  You give me hope, and remind me how blessed we all are.

Therefore I urge you to take nourishment, for this is for your survival, since not a hair will fall from the head of any of you.” And when he had said these things, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all; and when he had broken it he began to eat. Then they were all encouraged, and also took food themselves.'( ACTS 27:34-36)

” And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, “Take, eat;[a] this is My body.”  Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it.  (MARK 14:22-23 NKJV)

23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat;[a] this is My body which is broken[b] for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” ( 1CORINTHIANS 11:23-25 NKJV)

Dear Lord,

You taught us what it was like to be broken – literally.  You did not hide from the truth, but you declared it.  Let us embrace our brokenness, so that we may bring that part to YOU.  And protect us from living there too, we don’t want to live there; we just want to rest in You.  Quiet our minds and our hearts Lord. Let us be still and know that You are God.

Let us hear You as you say, ” I love you, even the broken parts.  You are my child, and I just want to spend time with you.  I have wanted to tell you that for so long.  You do not need to prove to yourself that you are loved.   You already have my love, now rest in Me.” in Jesus’ Name.

DAILY PROMPT: Vanilla, chocolate, or something else entirely?

Hands down, it’s gotta be chocolate for me. Chocolate, a girls best friend, the one PMS medicine that works, and a wonderful “take me away” food.  Plus, trying to justify myself here, dark chocolate is  high in antioxidants, it may help lower your blood pressure, and it increases the endorphin’s in your brain.OK, I know how to use Google.  Truthfully, I would eat chocolate whether it was healthy or not!

I went to Baskin-Robbins (online), and there are pictures of all the flavors.

Kinda reminds me of all God’s kids,

many different flavors, but all good!

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods. His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords: His love endures forever.
 (Psalm 136:1-3 NIV)
Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.
(Psalm 136:26 NIV)

Lord, we just want to say thank you. Thank you for loving us forever. Thank you for covering us with  Your grace and mercy.  Thank you for Jesus.  Thank you for the new life You have given us.  Thank you that we do not have to stay the same.  Thank you for delivering us.

Thank you that we are Your kids. (Are we there yet Daddy?)

And God, thank you  for ice cream!

We know you love us in all 32 flavors!
