They were married for years when he said goodbye.
Walked away from promises he made.
She found herself forsaken, betrayed.
Lord, meet her in her brokenness.
*
Another broken heart in a broken world,
trying to make sense of her suffering.
Life isn’t fair, it doesn’t always make sense.
Lord meet her in her brokenness.
*
She kneels by her bed every night in prayer.
Praying for a child lost in addiction;
drinking and drugging to numb the pain.
Lord meet her in her brokenness.
*
Another broken heart in a broken world,
trying to make sense of her suffering.
Life isn’t fair, it doesn’t always make sense.
Lord meet her in her brokenness.
*
The kids moved out, and the house is too quiet.
She’s left with boxes of her memories.
Trying to figure out where time went.
Lord, meet her in her brokenness.

(and though you love those memories in those boxes it is almost too bittersweet to look in them and so they stay stored away. Always there within reach but just out of sight)
How beautiful, sad and full of hope. I like your comment about how God writes on the tablets of our hearts ~ that is so true with you. God has given you a wonderful gift.
I’d like to hear this song, Diana. It’s painful, and yet full of hope, as we pray at the end of each stanza, “Lord, meet her in her brokenness.” I believe that’s exactly when God does meet us, in the midst of our brokenness and pain, for it’s during those times of suffering that we realize just how deeply we need Him.

Yep, I have my boxes too. I have 2 older girls on their own, and two younger ones 14 & 12 still at home. Bittersweet, that is so true.
