Rejection. Not being chosen. Not being wanted. The spurning of affection. Betrayal. We have all been rejected for something in our lives. We have all been betrayed or rejected by someone we thought who loved us. But what do you do to recover from that feeling? How do you, ‘get over it’?
Here is a great teaching by Pastor Bev Tucker from Life Church in Roscoe, IL. And here are my notes on her tremendous sermon.
REJECTION 6-28-14
It is not God’s desire for us to be broken. He wants us to be whole. He paid the price for us to be well. It was paid for on the Cross. As His Bride we should surrender to His will for us. He took every bondage, every abuse, every sickness, every sin – and bore it upon His body. Don’t let Him die for nothing. His desire is for us to be well. Receive ALL that He died to give you. He was not sick while He lived here on Earth. But when He went to the Cross – that was the place He took on our sickness, our brokenness, and all our sins.
Kingdom of God – come. As it is in Heaven, let it be on Earth. He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men. He does not want us to walk in rejection. The sickness of man is not always physical. Rejection is a sickness of our soul. We do not have to walk in abandonment. We do not have to continue to walk in rejection.
[He exclaimed] O my love, how beautiful you are! There is no flaw in you! (Song of Solomon 4:7 AMP)
The Bride of Christ is beautiful. There is no flaw in her – that means us! The Blood of Jesus has so cleansed us that there is no flaw. He took it. We don’t have to care about what other people think about you. You will never accomplish the will of God in your life if you are trying to win men’s affections. The Word says He has borne our griefs, sickness, distresses.
He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and pains, and acquainted with grief and sickness; and like One from Whom men hide their faces He was despised, and we did not appreciate His worth or have any esteem for Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole. (Isaiah 53:3-5 AMP)
Jesus paid the price for us to be whole. No matter how broken you have been – you don’t have to stay that way. Be careful who you listen to. If you only listen to Dr’s, Pshychiatrists, Psychologists, the News – what will you imagine? Begin to see yourself healed, whole, and blessed. Say that you are blessed. Say you are rich. Say you are healed. Say you are well. Say you are saved – 2000 years ago it happened – even if we just accept it today. Begin to see yourself healed and whole.
Rejection affects our soul – our mind, will, and our emotions. Rejection will hinder you from receiving from God as we believe that we are not worthy enough. The focus turns to ourselves instead of Jesus. If you have a negative imagination you will bring yourself down. You get to choose who you will align yourself up with – either the world system or what God says about you.
Rejection brings about personality malfunction. It can come up as children or through the generations. When a person has had rejection it can come various ways. Either as a child, or up through the generations. It brings about dysfunction in our personalities because we don’t deal with it. At church we deal with our sin, but what about dealing with sickness, rejection, brokenness? We shouldn’t tolerate the spirit of rejection anymore than we tolerate sin. They have no right to be in our lives. We don’t have to believe everything that people say – if we get a bad report we don’t have to believe it. Don’t let it make a nest. Don’t accept it. Our provision was on the Cross. Jesus carried it. We don’t have to carry that – He already did.
Rejected people reject others.
If you continue to live in rejection, you may be finding yourself rejecting others, rejecting good, and rejecting God.
It’s a mentality.
It’s a personality dysfunction.
You could be rejecting your healing.
You could be rejecting your blessing.
You could be rejecting everything God is trying to do for you.
We don’t have to figure out if we are worthy or not.
It was paid for.
