Stop Chashing Things

Those were the words I heard the Holy Spirit speak to me. “Stop chasing things.” This world is so full of things- and sometimes they even sparkle!

  • If you have this – you’ll be happy.
  • If you do this  – you’ll feel better
  • If you buy more – you’ll be great
  • If you get the right guy – life will be awesome.
  • If you make more money – if you have better clothes – if you buy a better car – if you blah, blah, blah…

You know the story. Has you “American Dream” turned into a nightmare?   And I have to admit I fell for it. Too busy chasing things. Too busy period.

Philippians 4:11-13

Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Lord, forgive me. Help me to be thankful for the simple things. Help me remember that I do not need to chase anyone or anything. And I have all that I need with You, in Jesus Name.

Receive Peace Today in the Middle of Your Mess

If there is one thing you bring with you wherever you go that this world needs it is Peace. The Spirit of the Living God lives within you if you have believed on Jesus. And He is Peace – the Prince of Peace. Receive it today. Let His peace reign in your heart when the world is crazy. Let his peace reign in your heart when things are out of control. Receive His Peace in the storm and in the quiet. And carry the Light of the World into the darkness. Bring kindness and humbleness and rest in Jesus today. The World around you will see it. Shine on!

Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:5-7

Know Your Circle

There are lots of so called leaders out there. Lots of people who are looking for followers. But not all of them are worth following. Some are wolves in sheeps clothing. They appear harmless and want to be your friend. But will slice you to pieces the minute you turn your back. Don’t be deceived. Don’t follow a double minded person – they are unstable in all their ways. And they do not have your best interest in mind.

communication

Have you ever run into a passive-aggressive person? Yeah, me too. One minute they want to be your friend, and the next minute they are stabbing you in the back. Or they just wait to pounce on you to make you look bad in front of others. Secretly they really want you to fail. Especially if you are a Believer in Christ. Be wary. Not everyone you meet is on your side.  According to Wikipedia:

Passiveaggressive behavior is the indirect expression of hostility, such as through procrastination, stubbornness, sullenness, or deliberate or repeated failure to accomplish requested tasks for which one is (often explicitly) responsible.

circle

Only through receiving the Spirit of God will we have a Teacher who will guide us and comfort us. The Holy Spirit will tell you ahead of time what is to come. The Spirit will tell you who is trustworthy and who is not. Ask the Spirit. And follow His lead. God will deal with the passive-aggressive. You are the aroma of Christ to them, the Light of the World – and not everyone wants to come out of the dark.

The LORD is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant. My eyes are always on the LORD, for he rescues me from the traps of my enemies. -Psalm 25:14-15 NLT
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. – Galatians 5:25

Stars

Isaiah 40:26 Look up into the heavens.Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.

Psalm 33:6 The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born.

Genesis 22:17 I will certainly bless you. I will multiply your descendants beyond number, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will conquer the cities of their enemies.

Psalm 136:7-9 Give thanks to him who made the heavenly lights—His faithful love endures forever. the sun to rule the day, His faithful love endures forever. and the moon and stars to rule the night. His faithful love endures forever.

Psalm 147:4-5 He counts the stars and calls them all by name. How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!

Jeremiah 33:22 And as the stars of the sky cannot be counted and the sand on the seashore cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of my servant David and the Levites who minister before me.”

The New School of Wisdom

I saw today’s Daily Prompt and had to participate. I am there.

You get to redesign school as we know it from the ground up. Will you do away with reading, writing, and arithmetic? What skills and knowledge will your school focus on imparting to young minds?

I would change things. Having worked in the Education and the Business Fields I have experience in both areas. Yes, there are systems that have been established for Education that have been used for years. And Teachers that have taught the same course – for years.

In my opinion, much of what our kids learn is not applicable once they enter the workforce. Yes, they can figure out square roots and learn about cell division and know what a preposition is. But how does that help them in the real world trying to get and keep a job in today’s market?

What are the Top jobs available to them once they graduate? Those are the skills they should learn. And why is there so much knowledge without wisdom?

Skills I Would Teach

  • God’s Word – it is Truth and Life and an Anchor in this thing called life. We all need some promises to hold onto.
  • Consequences. Not everybody gets a trophy.
  •  Healthy Boundaries in any relationship. Not every boy that says he loves you is telling the truth. And lots of kids lie.
  • Learn how  to balance a checkbook. Unless you learn to manage what God gives you, it will manage you.
  • Learn how to handle change. Things will not go as you planned – guaranteed.
  • Life isn’t fair. Deal with it.
  • Don’t believe everything you hear. Don’t believe everything you read on the Internet. Just because somebody said it – it doesn’t mean that it is true.
  • Right is right and wrong is wrong. Just because you can -doesn’t mean you should.
  • How to handle conflict.  Pursue peace and avoid gossipers and slanderers. There will always be people who throw you under the bus. Shake it off.
  • Keep your peace despite the drama. There are lots of people throwing darts around. And tons who like to stir the pot.
  • Take  a breath and trust God. He will lead the way. He will show you the path to walk in. He will hear and answer your prayers – He promised.

Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained; But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God]. – Proverbs 29:18 AMP

God Promised Us Rain

Have you ever been to the desert? Miles and miles of sand with no water in sight. Even the cactuses look dry. Sometime I have found that my life seems like a desert. Sometimes relationships or jobs or hope just dries up. And it seems like there is no hope. Been there? Yeah me too.

Just when I give up it seems that God shows up. I really think He was there the whole time. He said He would never leave me or forsake me. Maybe in the desert I just forgot that part. Heat will do that to a girl…

But God promises us rain – to refresh, to renew, and restore everything we thought had dried up. Hang on friends, here comes the rain!

Now Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink, for there is the sound of the roar of an abundance of rain.” -1 Kings 18:41

If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments and obediently do them, then I will give you rain in its season, and the land will yield her produce and the trees of the field bear their fruit. – Leviticus 26:3-4

The Lord will open for you His good treasure house, the heavens, to give rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand; and you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow. The Lord will make you the head leader and not the tail follower; and you will be above only, and you will not be beneath, if you listen and pay attention to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I am commanding you today, to observe them carefully. – Deuteronomy 28:12-13

I Am

I AM
~Copyright 2015 Diana Rasmussen~

I am

I was praying in the spirit
Seeking my daily bread
When the mighty voice of waters
Spoke to me and said

Bride of Christ Arise
Come up into the Heavenly skies
Prophesy what you see
Sit down next to me
And tell me what you see

Bride of Christ arise
I AM the Way
I AM the Door
I AM the Light
And the giver of Life

From this new perspective
I see His glory going forth in waves
Healing His body of believers today
I see the lame man dancing with new limbs
I see the dumb man talking to his friends
I see the blind man beholding Your Beauty
I see the fatherless adopted into Your Royal Family

Your Glory comes in waves
Covers your body today
the bound are loosed
addictions and sickness fall away
Anxiety and depression leave the fold
The broken hearted are filled with joy
The Splendor of Your Holiness
Lights up our way

Your worship defeats enemies
Your praise opens doors you can’t see

I AM the Way
I AM the Door
I AM the Light
And the giver of Life

The Wisdom of Silence

When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise. – Proverbs 8:19

We sit silently and watch the world around us. This has taken a lifetime to learn. It seems only the old are able to sit next to one another and not say anything and still feel content. The young, brash and impatient, must always break the silence. It is a waste, for silence is pure. Silence is holy. It draws people together because only those who are comfortable with each other can sit without speaking. This is the great paradox.-Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook

“The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent.” Then the LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the sons of Israel to go forward. – Exodus 14:14-15

He who does not understand your silence will probably not understand your words. -Elbert Hubbard

He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth. – Isaiah 53:7

But Joshua commanded the people, saying, “You shall not shout nor let your voice be heard nor let a word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I tell you, ‘Shout!’ Then you shall shout!” – Joshua 6:10

When the Lamb broke the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. – Revelation 8:1

You Can’t Fly Without Resistance

Just going about my normal everyday life when God speaks this to my spirit,

“You can’t fly without resistance”

Hmmm. Ok. So I think about an airplane. It was made to fly. It may sit on the ground for years waiting to take flight. Yet it was engineered to fly. It has everything it needs already to succeed. It was made that way. The wings engineered in such a way that when they hit the wind it takes off and leaves the ground. Defying all logic and despite how many pounds it weighs you can’t keep it down. A flap here, a little acceleration, point it’s nose up and there it goes. Doing what it was created to do. Flying above the world and all its troubles. Just flying.

Maybe we are like that plane. God created us to succeed. God promised we would overcome the world just as He did. Yes in this work we have troubles. We have resistance from people, places, and things. And sometimes that resistance seems overwhelming. But we were made to fly.  So pick up your head, look up to Jesus, and let that resistance hit your wings. God made you to fly. We will overcome – God promised!

Maybe all that resistance in our life was just to help us fly!

Isaiah 40:31

“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.”

Just Because I Am a Christian Doesn’t Mean I Am Buying Your Bullshit

I don’t believe everything I hear these days. Maybe that’s the wisdom that comes with getting older. I used to believe everything anyone ever said. I was so naive. Really.

My heart is sad today. I went to visit another church and found out the old Worship Leader and band had left. Another Church had offered them more money for their service. Why is our worship for sale?

And then the girl who came to church playing the ‘victim’. Months later to realize she had told the same lie to 3 other Church families. We gave, she took, and when confronted with Truth, she left. Why is our compassion taken advantage of?

And the woman who came looking for money. We gave and she left. There is so much more available here. How about healing? Why not stay for the real Living Water? Jesus can heal those wounds and give you things money could never buy.

And those in the Church who have money, yet treat those who don’t have money as if they have lesser value to God. In Christ we are all the same. We are all equal. We were CREATED EQUAL, by God. Money doesn’t matter. The widow and the fatherless are just as important as the millionaire.

My heart hurts, for all those who see people through dollar signs.

For those who have money and those who don’t.

For those who think money can buy people and then they ‘own’ them. They think they can order people around because their wallet may be fatter that particular day.

People are worth so much more than money.

Money is made of paper! It will burn up in the End Times anyway. And all those funds will be gone in a day when the Internet crashes. Really.

Now I understand why Jesus tipped over those tables.

The Kingdom of Heaven is not for sale.

The Blood of Jesus cannot ever be bought.

Help us Lord – to value people, not things or money, in Jesus Name

Attitude of Gratitude

I have found one thing to get me through the tough times. And it seems it is not the easiest thing to do. It is certainly not the first thought that comes to mind. Yet it helps me move forward when I am stuck.

“Thank You Lord”

Yeah. Finding one good thing in any situation turns my attitude around. I don’t want to be one of those people stuck out in the desert for 40 years. I am ready Lord – to enter the Promised Land with an Attitude of Gratitude! What are you grateful for today?

and-giving-joyful-thanks

Psalm 107

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures forever.

Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story—
those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,
those he gathered from the lands,
from east and west, from north and south.[a]

Some wandered in desert wastelands,
finding no way to a city where they could settle.
They were hungry and thirsty,
    and their lives ebbed away.
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
He led them by a straight way
to a city where they could settle.
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love
and his wonderful deeds for mankind,
for he satisfies the thirsty
and fills the hungry with good things.

Hope

A Time for Everything

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

What do workers gain from their toil?  I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.  He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.  I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.  That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.  I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him. (Ecclesiastes. 3:1-14 NIV)
