Every Mommy Has Her Favorite Perfume

Do you have a favorite perfume? I think everyone has a favorite. I like Channel – any of them. Yes, every Mommy has her favorite perfume.

It’s funny how a simple fragrance can remind you of someone. The other day I sprayed some Channel on me and instantly remembered my mom’s perfume collection. She liked it too. I was transported back to her walk in closet with the perfumes, all her matching outfits, scarves, shoes, and jewelry. My mom used to Broker a Real Estate office so she always dressed up for work.  I miss her, she passed away a few years ago. But that perfume brought me right back there.

What about you?

Do you have a favorite perfume?

What does it remind you of?

I found that the Holy Spirit has a fragrance as well. There are times that the presence of God will come upon you and you can smell it. It’s wonderful. You feel instantly protected and safe. God brings healing and hope in those moments as well.

“Live with love as Christ loved you. He gave Himself for us, a gift on the altar to God which was as a sweet smell to God.” – Ephesians 5:2 NLV

“We thank God for the power Christ has given us. He leads us and makes us win in everything. He speaks through us wherever we go. The Good News is like a sweet smell to those who hear it.  We are a sweet smell of Christ that reaches up to God. It reaches out to those who are being saved from the punishment of sin and to those who are still lost in sin.  It is the smell of death to those who are lost in sin. It is the smell of life to those who are being saved from the punishment of sin. Who is able for such a work?  We are not like others. They preach God’s Word to make money. We are men of truth and have been sent by God. We speak God’s Word with Christ’s power. All the time God sees us.” – 2 Corinthians 2:14-17 NLV

You Are God’s Perfume Bottle

Heard an interesting sermon yesterday. I actually had to stop it in the middle – it really ‘got me’.

Have you ever wanted a really special bottle of perfume? Something unique and special that would capture the real you?  Women look for years trying to find that signature scent.  I know, I did. And I have changed my tastes from year to year too.  Even my daughters have a favorite perfume.

Here was a fun little test I took on BuzzFeed to find out what my signature scent would be. Here is my result:

What Should Your Signature Scent Actually Be?

You got: Jean Paul Gaultier Classique

You’re sexy without even trying to be. You find it easy to make friends wherever you go, and there is always a long list of people who want to date you. You’re feminine, pretty and very smart.

I have no idea what this smells like, but you know next time I am out and about I am going to see if I like it! And I am married – so no dating for Ms D – just my hubby Bob!

But here is a thought:

Did you know we carry perfume around?

It’s a special fragrance that cannot be bought at any store.

It is more precious than any fragrance ever.

We carry the fragrance of Christ wherever we go.

The Holy Spirit has it’s own distinct scent.

We are God’s Special Bottle of Perfume.

And both believers and unbelievers can ‘smell’ it!

Here is the sermon from Life Church in Roscoe, IL. It’s called HEAVEN ON EARTH by Pastor Norman Borrero. She’s spunky and I love it. And the part about the perfume – wow, got me. I had to stop it there to let it sink in. It starts around 15:50…I won’t spoil it, listen for yourselves.

But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere,

For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which exhales] unto God, [discernible alike] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing:

To the latter it is an aroma [wafted] from death to death [a fatal odor, the smell of doom]; to the former it is an aroma from life to life [a vital fragrance, living and fresh]. And who is qualified (fit and sufficient) for these things? [Who is able for such a ministry? We?]

For we are not, like so many, [like hucksters making a trade of] peddling God’s Word [shortchanging and adulterating the divine message]; but like [men] of sincerity and the purest motive, as [commissioned and sent] by God, we speak [His message] in Christ (the Messiah), in the [very] sight and presence of God. (2 Corinthians 2:14-17 AMP)
