Better

BETTER

~Copyright 2015 Diana Rasmussen

You can’t sit in the sun without feeling it’s warmth
You can’t step in the ocean without getting wet
Believe in the good, despite what you see
Hope, like a seed, sprouts up from the dark
Have faith, things will get better for you yet

 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers.  If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.

And now, brothers, as I close this letter, let me say this one more thing: Fix your thoughts on what is true and good and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely, and dwell on the fine, good things in others. Think about all you can praise God for and be glad about. (Phil 4:6-8 TLB)

Rest in the Sacred Space

Rest in the Sacred Space

~Copyright 2015 Diana Rasmussen

Some days I have nothing to say
I can rest in our sacred space
Knowing that your love covers me
and You will lead the way
I trust Your Word my Lord
to your promises I cling
I’ve said my prayers and
I’ve held my tongue
Your peace and presence
Now You’ll bring

Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,

But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:28-31 NKJV)

Looking to the Rock of Ages

Listening for His Sacred Song

Refusing to believe my feelings

and the ways I have done wrong

I’ll receive His forgiveness

His Mercy and His Grace

He and He alone will

put a smile on my face

Hear my cry, O God;
Attend to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

For You have been a shelter for me,
A strong tower from the enemy.
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever;
I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah (Psalm 61:1-4 NKJV)

Brand New Start

Meet me in the way
Reveal Yourself as
I walk along my day
Even in silence
I hear You in my heart
Your Word transports me
into a brand new start

“Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.

(Isaiah 43:18-18 NKJV)

One More Time

One More Time

~Copyright 2015 Diana Rasmussen~

I’ve been sick and tired for years
I’m tired of all of these tears
I’ll crawl through the places and all of the faces
just to touch You one more time
I can’t hide the hunger inside
I fall on your mercy and grace
I live to look at your face
JESUS I need to touch You one more time

 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?”

When all denied it, Peter and those with him[f] said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’

But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.”  Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.

 And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” (Luke 8:45-48 NKJV)

Glitter Sprinkles

 GLITTER SPRINKES

~Copyright 2015 Diana Rasmussen~

With our feet standing firmly on the ground
We release Spirit to go forward into the future
Speak God Promise Words into the moment
Mix it with faith and expectation
We can grab handfuls of goodness
Carry it back to the present
Open up our hands and
Sprinkle God’s mercy and kindness
Everywhere we go as
Glitter Sprinkles Gods Grace

And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy,and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. (Exodus 33:19 NIV)

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever. (Psalm 23:6 NKJV)

Praise Flows

The Power of Praise

Currents of possibilities
Flowing through invisibility
Surging Energy in between what is and what will be
Bringing the Kingdom from Heaven to Earth
Lighting the darkness of disbelief
God inhabits the praises of His people
Empowering victory through a song
Currents of Dunamis Power
Supercharged Praise Flows!

Dunamis Power – The Greek word is dunamis, which comes from dunamai (where the word dynamite comes from), and means force, miraculous and inerent power, strength, ability, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature or which a person or thing exerts and puts forth.

Love Blooms

Love Blooms

~Copyright 2015 Diana Rasmussen~

Through the highs and the lows
my love for you grows
through the trials and fears
happiness sown in our tears
hope springs up
like a spring shower pours down
faithfulness blooms
When we’ve pushed our way through
the dirt and all of the hurt
our love forever blooms

Joy of the Redeemed

The desert and the parched land will be glad;
    the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus,  it will burst into bloom;
    it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it,
    the splendor of Carmel and Sharon;
they will see the glory of the Lord,
    the splendor of our God. (Isaiah 35:1-2 NIV)

Salvation is Here – NaPoWriMo

Salvation is Here

~Copyright 2015 Diana Rasmussen~

He is not here

He is Risen

The tomb is empty

No longer bound to this world

He lives again in you and me

Resurrection Sunday

New life and new hope

Salvation is here!

Surely God is my salvation;
    I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense;
    he has become my salvation. (Isaiah 12:2 NIV)

Snow White Darkness – NaPoWriMo Day 4

This is a poem that I turned into a song that describes what it is like to live in Domestic Violence. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men live like this everyday. And also a video that some of my friends did with CSpan about helping those living in abuse. Help us Lord to break the yoke of oppression in their lives and shine Your Light into their darkness, in Jesus Name.

SNOW WHITE DARKNESS

© 2013 Diana Rasmussen

She looks in the mirror, seems vaguely familiar
like steam on the glass, shame covers her past
the fog slithers down, as evil surrounds
His worst fantasy, her reality
he pulls the strings, does unspeakable things
a sadistic entrance, for his acceptance

smothered by control, a tormented soul
trapped in his castle
her tears rolling mist, proof she exists
in snow white darkness

clouds of confusion, rolled into illusion
He veils perversion, forcing her coercion
her body he takes, while she flies away
unbelievable, she’s invisible
love is the shadow, that darkens her window
she’s crying for help, to escape her hell

smothered by control, a tormented soul
trapped in his castle
her tears rolling mist, proof she exists
in snow white darkness

she hides in the fog, drinks hair of the dog
hates her behavior, craves one to save her

smothered by control, a tormented soul
trapped in his castle
her tears rolling mist, proof she exists
in snow white darkness

“Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
To loose the bonds of wickedness,
To undo the heavy burdens,
To let the oppressed go free,
And that you break every yoke?

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;
When you see the naked, that you cover him,
And not hide yourself from your own flesh?

 Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
 Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ (Isaiah 58:6-9 NKJV)

This is also the title of my book – SNOW WHITE DARKNESS – Smothered by Control.  It contains my journal entries from when I was living in abuse. Thank you Lord for deliverance for me and my children!

And here is the Album – available from GooglePlay. Thank you in advance for your love and support!

“And now for today’s prompt (optional, as always). Love poems are a staple of the poetry scene. It’s pretty hard to be a poet and not write a few – or a dozen – or maybe six books’ worth. But because so many love poems have been written, there are lots of clichés. Fill your poems with robins and hearts and flowers, and you’ll sound more like a greeting card than a bard. So today, I challenge you to write a “loveless” love poem. Don’t use the word love! And avoid the flowers and rainbows. And if you’re not in the mood for love? Well, the flip-side of the love poem – the break-up poem – is another staple of the poet’s repertoire. If that’s more your speed at present, try writing one of those, but again, avoid thunder, rain, and lines beginning with a plaintive “why”? Try to write a poem that expresses the feeling of love or lovelorn-ness without the traditional trappings you associate with the subject matter.”

Under My Branches – NaPoWriMo Day 3

Under My Branches

© 2015 Diana Rasmussen

In the corner of the Garden
He falls under the shining stars.
Letting go of tears and fears.
Under my branches

He falls under my canopy.
Watching Him is pure agony.
Crushed by sorrow, suffering,
Under my branches

“Father let this cup, pass from me.
Yet not my will, but Yours be done.
I’ll finish what You have begun.”
Jesus prays, under my branches.

He asks his friends to stay awake
Spirit’s willing, the flesh is weak.
Nevertheless He still prays,
Under my branches

“Father let this cup, pass from me.
Yet not my will, but Yours be done.
I’ll finish what You have begun.”
Jesus prays, under my branches.

My branches were not meant to hold Him,
He would hang on another tree.
From my garden I could see Him
As He died on Calvary.

“Father let this cup, pass from me.
Yet not my will, but Yours be done.
I’ll finish what You have begun.”
Jesus prays, under my branches.

Not my will but yours be done

Called by the Maker of the Stars – NaPoWriMo 2015 Day 2

It is that time again friends. NaPoWriMo 2015 – 30 poems in 30 days! I love this challenge!

Here is todays challenge:

NaPoWriMo – Day 2

And now, our (as always, optional) prompt, provided to us by NaPoWriMo participant Carla Jones. Today, I challenge you to take your gaze upward, and write a poem about the stars. You may find inspiration in this website that lists constellations, while also providing information on the myths associated with each one, as well as other salient information. Your poem could be informed by those myths or historical details, by the shapes or names of the constellations, or by childhood memories of seeing them. Any form or style will do.

Happy writing!

CALLED BY THE MAKER OF THE STARS

~Copyright 2015 Diana Rasmussen~

You knew me before I was born

You knit me together in the womb

You knew the paths I would take

You called me out of darkness into light

You renew my mind and my heart

You know my ways and my name

Called by the Maker of the Stars

Lift up your eyes and see. Who has made these stars? It is the One Who leads them out by number. He calls them all by name. Because of the greatness of His strength, and because He is strong in power, not one of them is missing. (Isaiah 40:26 NLV)
