Daily Prompt: I Want to Know What Love Is
We each have many types of love relationships — parents, children, spouses, friends. And they’re not always with people; you may love an animal, or a place. Is there a single idea or definition that runs through all the varieties of “love”?
Love never dies…
I love my God, who I can’t see yet. I love Jesus, who I have come to know as my Savior, Healer, Redeemer, and many more things. I love the Holy Spirit who is like the wind in my life, bringing me comfort, help, renewal, remembrance, and more. I love my moms, Linda & Oma who passed away. I love my husband, Bob, all of my children and step children (Jenny, Amanda, Johnna, Adam, Christian, Tim), my dad, John and my step-mom,Anne, my father-in-law, Lee, my sister Kris, my brother John, even my sister Sandy who won’t talk to me, my family, my friends, even the dog and the cat. I love the horses I used to have growing up. I love being outside. I love the ocean – even though I live in WI. I love the wind in my hair. I love music. I love my blog friends, and my music friends. I love….
Love is like a fire that never goes out, it never dies.
You can’t drown it, you can’t kill it, you can’t ignore it,
it just is.
LOVE REMAINS© 2013 Diana Rasmussen
Indescribable destruction, Unbelievable despair
No words to describe it, guess you would’ve had to been there
surviving a natural disaster changes your point of view
Suddenly material things, aren’t what matters to you
After earthquakes, famines, and floods – Love remains
After tornadoes, wars, disasters – Love remains
Our hope is born in the storm, our faith rises in the fire
After all disaster – Love remains
When our houses are piles of rubble, streets are big rivers instead
Trucks flyin’ thru the air, people vanishing everywhere
you hold onto what matters the most, let go of fear and despair
Grab the hand of family and friends, stand by your neighbors
refuse to give up
refuse to give in
pickin’ up the pieces
” And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthains 13: 13 NIV)
If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
Love never dies.
