Arise – NaPoWriMo Day 3

“For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy,
Now I will arise,” says the Lord;
“I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.”
(Psalm 12:5 NKJV)

Into the hovels of the poor,
Into the dark streets where the homeless groan, God speaks:
“I’ve had enough; I’m on my way
To heal the ache in the heart of the wretched.” (Psalm 12:5 MSG)

ARISE

Water running
Down the curb
Small stream of
Homeless tears
Falling through
The metal grate

Every ache
Of broken heart
Cries out in
Anguish
“Make it stop,”

Groans trickle by
People unseen yet
Summon to the
King of Kings
Calling Him
Our Savior
To ARISE.

Chosen and Special – NaPoWriMo Day 2

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
(1 Peter 2:9)

You call me chosen

You call me special

All while this world

calls me disturbed

You call me treasured

You call me loved

All while they laugh

point and harass

You hide me in

the shelter of

Your mighty wings

give me Your ring

A Promised Bride

to Thee My King

I cling to your Word

and the LIFE it Brings

It’s Raining Diamonds- NaPoWriMo Day 1

NaPoWriMo2014

Well, it’s that time of year again. April is National Poetry Month. NaPoWriMo 2014 has begun! Why not join the fun? Head over to:

http://www.naprwrimo.net

I did this last year and had a blast. This year I think I’ll pick a verse a day, and write something along those lines. Some may even be song lyrics I am working on, like this one, It’s Raining Diamonds. Always great to get new ideas flowing!

From Wikipedia:

National Poetry Writing Month (also known as NaPoWriMo) is a creative writing project held annually in April in which participants attempt to write a poem each day for one month. NaPoWriMo coincides with the National Poetry Month in the United States of America and Canada.

– “But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an everflowing stream.” (Amos 6:24)

IT’S RAINING DIAMONDS

When I’m frozen with fear
Anxious about this life
Or just tired, worn out
From the fighting and strife

Justice rolls down like waters
Righteousness flows
like an everlasting stream
It’s raining diamonds
It’s raining diamonds

When I’ve fallen too far
Drowning in pools of sorrow
Looking for a light
To get out of the dark

Justice rolls down like waters
Righteousness flows
like an everlasting stream
It’s raining diamonds
It’s raining diamonds

Despite crushing pressure
I’m refined by Your heat

Justice rolls down like waters
Righteousness flows
like an everlasting stream
It’s raining diamonds
It’s raining diamonds

My someday is finally here
I forgot my past, I press on ahead
born for such a time as this

*

a change of heart, it’s only the start
of the goodness of God
that’s coming my way

*

No more running or hiding
I am more than surviving
God has supplied all that I need

*

No more whining or crying
God’s favor is on me
His grace makes me sing

*

No more losers, abusers
I am no longer a victim
The Mighty God has delivered me

*

No more cheaters or liars
I’m living in the truth
He gave me royal blood
*
No more fighting or strife
I’m resting in His peace
God’s calmed me in the storm

*

No more worries or anxiety
I trust in my God
He is faithful to the end

*

No more bondage or slavery
I am free in the King
An adopted child with inheritance

*

No more poverty or want
I am blessed beyond measure
The love of God changes everything

*

My someday is finally here!

River of Living Water
wash over me in grace
Drench me in Your Spirit
Jesus your Name I praise

River of Deliverance
is all my eye can see
Wells of living water
spring up inside of me

River of Redemption
restores me faithfully
Following the Spirit
flows to eternity

DOES LIFE HAVE A NAME?

Copyright 2013 Diana Rasmussen

Tried chasing money
Tired of make believe fame
Had lots of power
Just got devoured
*
I’m lonely and empty
In my fancy position
My name’s on the door
There has to be more
*
Does life have a name?
I’m tired of playing the game
Success feels like failure
Does life have a name?
 *
I’ve worshiped knowledge
with liars and politics
rules of tradition
lots of religion
 *
This world can’t fill me
My cup’s almost empty
I’m grasping at straws,
seeing all my flaws.
 *
Does life have a Name?
I’m tired of playing the game
success feels like failure
Does life have a name?
*
lonely in a crowded room
looking for a real relationship
Does life have a name?

He Knows Your Poverty

He Knows Your Poverty

© 2013 Diana Rasmussen

from dilsedesiblog.blogspot.com
from dilsedesiblog.blogspot.com

Did you ever wonder why
the King of the sky
would leave Heaven above
come to Earth with love
to join us in our poverty
*
When you run out of money
before the end of the month
and choose between diapers
and gas for work
pawn all of your stuff
for a bag of groceries
*
And you use what you have
for all that you can
cause that is all
that you’ve got
*
And you pray that someday
it won’t be like this
as you tell the kids
no not today
just because
*
He sees all your tears
and collects every one
in a jar up in Heaven
to shower you soon
with blessings instead
of the pain that life brings
*
For the promise He’s given
Do not fear, I’ll provide
when you’re weak,
then I’m strong
Poor in spirit,
you’re blessed
*
so we try to rejoice
consider ourselves worthy
for ours is the
Kingdom of
Righteousness
*
Choosing to believe
All things will
work out for good
There will be
a purpose
for everything
*
Or will you sit back
demand more and more
pay for the death
of your soul
with a life
spent on yourself
*
pretend this is it
take what you can
forgetting His death
and resurrection
*
will you endure
in your pain
will you find love
in the dark
will you choose life
from a cross
can you rejoice
in your suffering
if life here
is not all there is
*
Jesus knows what it’s like
to trade riches for rags
endure hardship
and suffering
*
But He didn’t give up
He came here to save you
Carried out Gods plan
to make all things new
*
His death brings you life
His resurrection brings hope
that out of this pain
something good will come
*
Surely we’ll see the
goodness of God
in the land of the living
He promised, He said
*
And someday soon
in the blink of an eye
We will meet Him
Up in the sky
live in a mansion
streets lined with gold
dance with the Savior
as He welcomes us home

Would You Love Them For Me Anyway?

Would You Love Them For Me Anyway?

As I sit and wonder,
what this thing of Love is.
And why it costs so much
just to give it away.

God gently reminds me.
it cost Him something too.
His Son Jesus Christ
died to save me from my sins.

As I look at those around me
full of anger, fear, and strife.
He asks me quite slowly
“Would you love them for Me, anyway?”

I say, “But God they don’t want it,
they run and they hide.
My love goes unanswered,
and so I ask why?”

He says it’s His job to change them,
Not mine as I thought.
My only task it’s quite clear,
is to love them, anyway.

He says once again with a smile on His face,
“Watch what I do with it,
this Love covered with Grace.
They can run but they can’t hide
from Me, I’m on the inside!”

So I resign my arguments,
give up my controlling behavior,
trusting Him to do it best.
And I’ll just love them, anyway.

For you see, that’s His child
buried deep in the mud.
And God lives inside of them,
even though they don’t know it yet.

I reach out my hand, help them up.
And show them how much
God loves them right where they are.
and I’ll love them, anyway.
