Spring – NaPoWriMo Day 6

“Get up, my dear friend,
    fair and beautiful lover—come to me!
Look around you: Winter is over;
    the winter rains are over, gone!
Spring flowers are in blossom all over.
    The whole world’s a choir—and singing!
Spring warblers are filling the forest
    with sweet arpeggios.
Lilacs are exuberantly purple and perfumed,
    and cherry trees fragrant with blossoms.
Oh, get up, dear friend,
    my fair and beautiful lover—come to me!
Come, my shy and modest dove—
    leave your seclusion, come out in the open.
Let me see your face,
    let me hear your voice.
For your voice is soothing
    and your face is ravishing.”  (Song of Solomon 2:10-14 MSG)

Brown branches without leaves
Tan rocks without words
Yellow sun burns brightly
As winter comes undone

Birds sweetly singing
as a gentle wind blows
Cars hum and motorcycles run
Ushering in a new season

Black tire swing
rocks in the breeze
Welcoming Spring and
the New Life that it brings

NaPoWriMo – Day 6

“Take a good look outside your window. Spend a minute or so jotting down all the nouns you see outside. Tree. Car. Bus. Dog. Then spend a minute or so writing down all the colors you see. Finally, think about taking place outside. Is the wind blowing? “Blow.” Is someone walking their dog? “Walk.” Spend a minute or so writing down these verbs. Now you’ve got a whole list of words from which to build a poem, mixing and matching as you go. Happy writing!”
