Looking back through my old journals I came across this wonderful story of how God gives us signs. It is still true today.  This particular story was from  a time when I had left my abusive husband and the kids and I had our own place finally.  I was working at an Assisted Living Center and brought my kids to daycare at 5:30 am so I could be at work at 6:00 am.  The daycare would feed them breakfast and bus them to school.

From Sunday 7-3-05

Pastor’s message was “give me children lest I die” – Rachel’s prayer from the Old Testament.

Now when Rachel saw that she bore Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister, and said to Jacob, “Give me children, or else I die!” (Genesis 30:1 NKJV)

Our prayer that day was, “God, give us a passion for lost souls.  Let us pray for the Harvest – for laborers to GATHER,  for the harvest is plentiful.”

From Mon 7-4-05 (the next morning)

5:30 am.  I went to my car to go to work and looked down at my feet.  By the passenger door there were grains of wheat on the floor.

God spoke to me and said, “Those are people, gather them.”

I went back to my apartment and got a zip-lock.  I picked up each wheat kernel and carefully put it in the bag.  There was also a seed there too. I picked that up and placed it in the bag. I went to work, and just wondered. What am I supposed to do with these seeds? These people?

After work I stopped by my Pastor and his wife’s house.  It had been bothering me all day.  It’s like, ok, thanks God, but what does that mean? Sometimes I’m a little slow…

They confirmed what I thought. They said,  “that is your sign, it’s harvest time!”  I gave them the bag, the wheat, and the seed, and thanked God for the sign!  So, I say to you, my friends – IT’S HARVEST TIME!  Jesus is not here yet, and it’s still HARVEST TIME!

GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU:

Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.  Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38 NKJV)

Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
Praise your God, O Zion!
 For He has strengthened the bars of your gates;
He has blessed your children within you.
He makes peace in your borders,
And fills you with the finest wheat. (Psalm 147:12-14 NKJV)

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,

You are the Lord of the Harvest.  Use us as your laborers today.  Let us gather each grain of wheat, each precious person,  for your Kingdom, for your glory. Forgive us for overlooking your children.  Open our eyes to see your kids.  Open our ears to hear their cries.  Let us love them as You do, showering them with mercy and grace, in Jesus Name.
