Presidents’ Day is celebrated on the third Monday in February to honor the legacy of U.S. presidents, originally established as a federal holiday in 1879 to commemorate George Washington’s birthday. It was shifted to a Monday in 1971 to create a three-day weekend, and is often celebrated as a combined tribute to Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Here are a few Christian quotes from some of our Presidents:
- “I have examined all religions, and the result is that the Bible is the best book in the world.” John Adams, 2nd President
- “It is the duty of nations as well as men to recognize the truth announced in Holy Scripture and proven by all of history that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.” Abraham Lincoln, 16th President
- “Of the many influences that have shaped the United States into a distinctive nation and people, none may be said to be more fundamental and enduring than the Bible.” “Inside the Bible’s pages lie all the answers to all of the problems man has ever known… It is my firm belief that the enduring values presented in its pages have a great meaning for each of us and for our nation. The Bible can touch our hearts, order our minds, and refresh our souls.” – Ronald Reagan, Fortieth President
- “God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever.”- Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President, inscribed on the Jefferson Memorial
- “The whole inspiration of our civilization springs from the teachings of Christ and the lessons of the prophets. To read the Bible for these fundamentals is a necessity of American life.”
- “The study of the Bible is a post-graduate course in the richest library of human experience.” – Hebert Hoover, Thirty first President
- “Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, leave the rest to God.” — Ronald Reagan
- “We are one people, one family, and one glorious nation under God.” — Donald Trump
- “The only maxim of our free institutions is that we are a nation under God.” — Dwight D. Eisenhower (reflecting on the addition of “under God” to the Pledge)
- “Without God there is no virtue.” — Ronald Reagan
- “I have always said and always will say that the studious perusal of the Sacred Volume will make better citizens, better fathers, better husbands… the Bible makes the best people in the world.” – Thomas Jefferson, Third President
- “A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education.” – Theodore Roosevelt, Twenty sixth President
- “The strength of a country is the strength of its religious convictions.” – Calvin Coolidge.
- “It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible.” – George Washington
- “[The Bible] is the rock on which our Republic rests.” – Andrew Jackson, 7th President
