God Will Finish the Work He Started in Us

It was God who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. Before we were formed in our mother’s womb, He knew us. Before we were even born, Jesus went to the cross to redeem and save us. Surely, God will finish the work He started in us.

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. – Phillipians 1:6 NKJV

phillipians 1.6

Sometimes it’s hard to see the forest through the trees. So many of us are going through firey trials. Let’s take a step back, and breathe. Surely God will not leave us in this place. He promised never to leave us or forsake us. He promised to go before us and light the way.  Let’s stop looking around at all these awful circumstances and look up for our Salvation draws nigh!

God is our Master Builder. He is the Alpha and the Omega,  the beginning and the end. Whether we live or we die, we belong to the Lord. God will finish the work He started in us.  Rest, relax in Jesus, He is our beginning and our end – not us, not our circumstances, not this life on Earth. Jesus is the end!

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” – Revelation 22:12-13 NKJV

God knows, God sees, and He WILL deliver us!

And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen! – 2 Timothy 4:18 NKJV

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me;
You will stretch out Your hand
Against the wrath of my enemies,
And Your right hand will save me.
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands. – Psalm 138:7-8 NKJV

Pursue Peace

We have been so blessed this month with visiting family. My brother came out from Nevada with his family for a week. And this week my brother in law from CA and my sister in law from MI are here. Now may I confess, we do not have the picture perfect family. There have been troubles and fights and disagreements. I have to confess that prayer changes things. When we knew they were coming to visit my husband and I started praying. “God open doors and open hearts to heal our family.” Can I tell you what? God answers prayer. And he did. Our time together was so blessed with one more gathering tonight for my father in laws 84th birthday.

Stuff doesn’t matter, money doesn’t matter – it’s the people that we have in our lives that are the best treasure here on earth.

Thank you Jesus for healing hearts and opening doors!

GOD’S WORD FOR YOU:

Philippians 4:6 – Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

John 16:33 – These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Romans 12:18 – If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,

You told us salvation was for us AND our families. I ask you to step right into the middle of our mess and restore and heal hearts. Let your forgiveness of us flow through us to our families. We lay down all offenses and take the higher road today. We forgive those who have offended us and ask you to open up new doors of opportunity for healing in our families.  Let us love one another as You have loved us, in Jesus Name.

peace of Christ

Renew Our Minds to Heal Mental Illness

After my post yesterday on the prevalence of Mental Illness in this Nation, I feel compelled to share the only way that I have found to renew my mind. You see, I could relate to that girl.(Here is the post – THE SEMICOLON PROJECT)  I have had those self-destructive thoughts in my mind for years. I hated those thoughts. And I know they are NOT from God. God is not out to destroy me, the Enemy is. The Enemy has come to kill, steal, and destroy. Jesus has come to give us life and life more abundantly.

I have tried the ‘psychology’ fixes to change my thoughts. I have read almost every self-help book out there. But that did not quiet the thoughts in my head.

The only thing that has renewed my mind and shut up the destructive thoughts is the WORD OF GOD.

Think of your house.

You don’t let any old person in do you?

Just because they come to the door does not mean they get to come in and sit down on your couch and move in right?

The same is true with our thoughts. Just because a thought comes to the door does not mean we have to let it in.

Every thought we get to ‘take captive’ and test.

Is that thought true?

Is that thought what God says about me?

Is that thought out to destroy me?

If it is not true or destructive we can close the door and not let it in our house. Instead we can think on good things. God says we are good. God says we are fearfully and wonderfully made. God says that He has a plan and He will never leave us or forsake us. God speaks Truth, and those thoughts bouncing around may be LIES. Don’t let them in.

That is how we renew our minds and heal our mental illness, one thought at a time with the Word of God.

Bible Verses on Renewing Your Mind

 And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], (Ephesians 4:23 AMP)

For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), (2 Corinthians 5:3-5 AMP)

 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God,even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. (Romans 12:2 AMP)

For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them]. (Philippians 4:8 AMP)

choose thoughts

Thankful

Thankful. Yep. It is a choice. Especially when the enemy continues to steal. And kill. And destroy. One of the things I have learned on my journey is that:

I can focus on what the enemy has stolen
OR
I can focus on what God has restored.

The choice is mine. But whatever I look at will be magnified.

If I look at the bad, I will see more bad, and eventually be consumed by it.

If I look at the good, I will see more good, and eventually be consumed by that.

Good things

It has not been an easy few days here. As many of you know I am a musician. I made a YouTube video and long story short, I found out someone had stolen one of my instrumental songs and put it on iTunes, Amazon, and CDBaby with worldwide distribution.

Yes, I am angry. Yes, it was wrong. Yes, it was theft. But I have to make a choice. Will I let this theft consume me? NO! What they meant for evil God will use for good – He promised!  Today I choose to be thankful, thank you Jesus!
