I recently had a Pastor from another country ask me about breaking Generational Curses. There is varying teaching out there on this subject and I confess I am no expert. So I do what I always do – search it out. I truly believe that God has given us the Holy Spirit to change the course of our families. Time and time again there was a King in the Old Testament that did not follow God, but in the next Generation his son turned back to the Lord. God is a Redeemer and I believe He can redeem our past, our present, and our future – and the same for our families. God isn’t on the same time table as we are. He is not limited. He can do all things.
What if God has called you to break and destroy all the generational curses that have plagued your family?
Would you do it?
Would you ask the Lord to forgive the sins of your fathers and the sins of your children?
Would you stand in the gap like Moses did for your family?
Would you stand in the gap for your Church family and all the followers of Christ?
I believe the only thing that can break a Generational Curse is applying the Blood of Jesus. It is His Blood that has the Power to break curses. He became the curse so that we would not have to bear it. I wrote about this in one of my Spring Training Posts – Breaking Generational Curses.
GOD’S WORD FOR YOU:
Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified); To the end that through [their receiving] Christ Jesus, the blessing [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit. (Galatians 3:13-14 AMP)
The blood shall be for a token or sign to you upon [the doorposts of] the houses where you are, [that] when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt. (Exodus 12:!3 AMP)
And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]. (Revelation 12:11 AMP)
Today I would like to share some things I learned about breaking the generational curses over our lives. There are times that we find ourselves in a situation merely because it has followed us there. Kind of like genetics. If you mom had brown hair, and your dad had brown air, odds are you will have brown hair. The same is true in the spiritual. There may be curses like poverty, divorce, illness, or other things that may be lingering around from the past. Only the Blood of Jesus can break these curses. He is the One who became the curse so that we could obtain the blessing. You can read all about the curses and blessings in Deuteronomy 28. But as a believer, I had to learn how to APPLY the Blood of Jesus in my life so that these curses would be broken.
And as a Believer I did know that I had the authority to break the curses over my own life. I always thought I needed to go to someone to do that. You know, some super-spiritual Pastor or something. Not so. We have the authority – God gave it to us. And we can redeem the past for good – no matter what our Ancestors did. This study was very eye-opening for me. And I did it! I pray that you take the authority God gave you and break the curses over your life and your family’s lives. God bless you as you do!
Here is one of the most powerful sermons I have found on this subject along with my sermon notes.
The Nature of Curses and Blessings by Derek Prince
Through the redemption of Christ we should be released from the curses and enjoy the blessings. But the body of Christ enduring curses when they should be enduring blessings. One of the reasons is we do not recognize what is a curse and what is a blessing. We many not know how to be released from the curse and enter into the blessings.
CURSES AND BLESSINGS BOTH ARE VEHICLES OF SUPERNATURAL POWER FOR GOOD (Blessings) , OR FOR EVIL (Curses).
One characteristic feature of them is they will continue from generation to generation until someone knows how to cut them off (curses). The result is that many people are bearing consequences in their life that took place long ago. We many need to trace where the problem came from and take the appropriate action to be released.
These Vehicles may be:
1. Words – spoken, written, or pronounced inwardly by you or someone else.
2. Can be transmitted by physical objects
When the curse is broken there is no more reason for sickness.
In Deuteronomy 28 there are 14 verses of blessings and 54 verses of curses. Here is Derek’s summation on that chapter:
Exaltation – no longer living under things
Reproductiveness – fruitful in every area of your life
Prosperity or Success
7 Curses (the opposite)
Barrenness – failure to reproduce
Sickness of all kinds
Poverty or failure
“The difference between the head and the tail is the head makes the decisions, the tail just gets dragged around.” -Derek Prince
Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the application for these areas. The Holy Spirit is the teacher. We should be above our circumstances.
7 Indications That We Are Dealing With A Curse:
Mental/Emotional Breakdown – people fall apart, emotional or mentally or both
Repeated/Chronic Sickness – hereditary things, or if Dr’s cant find any normal cause
Breakdown of marriage/family alienation – families fall apart, marriage break up, children are separted from each other
Continued Financial Insufficiency – a history, not a season, of being short
Being accident-prone – not natural to always be that person
History of Suicide/Unnatural Deaths – frequency of those things in a family.
A curse is like a long evil arm from the past and every time you are just about to succeed this evil arm trips you up and you have to get up and try again. A curse is like a dark shadow from the past shutting out the sunlight of God’s blessings.
Causes of Curses and Blessings
Blessing = Listen to God’s voice and do what He says
Curses = Don’t listen to God’s voice and don’t do what He says
The greatest sources of curses in people’s lives are breaking the first two commandments. We must not acknowledge any other God. Or bow down or serve idols. See Exodus 20:3-5. Whenever we go to another source for something we should go to God for, we are actually making that other thing our God. For example, if we go to a Fortune Teller for information for the future where God has said not to use that channel, you are making the power behind that Fortune Teller your God. Same with cults, ouiji boards, occults – you are making a God that is not the true God.
Sources of Curses:
False Gods – Exodus 20:3-6
Idolotry (occult) – Deut. 27:15
Disrespect parents – Pr. 30:17
Treachery – neighbor – Pr. 17:13
Injustice to weak, poor – Pr. 28:27
Unnatural sex/incest – Lev. 20:10-16
Anti-Semitism – Gen 12:3; 27:29
Depending on flesh – Jer. 17:5-7
Stealing/perjury – Zech. 5:1-4
Stinginess toward God – Mal. 3:8-10
Men who speak as God’s Mouthpiece against someone – Joshua 6:26, I Kings 16:34
Other Sources of Curses
Persons with Relational Authority – A husband, Parents, Teachers, Pastors, etc. Words spoken by those people have special power whether they are blessings or are curses. In the Bible, the best blessing someone can have is a blessing from their Father. And sometimes the worst things are said by a father to his child.
For example if a Father says to his son, “You will never make it. You will always struggle.” 20 years later his son doesn’t do well. Or if a Father says to his daughter, “You will always have pimples on your face.” 15 years later she still does. Or what if a Teacher says, “You’re shallow, You’re stupid.” That was a curse spoken over a child. And that child was still reacting to those words in their 60’s.There is authority behind those statements. There is a demonic element behind those words. James 3:14-15.
Self-Imposed Curses – Curses spoken by us. Gen. 27:11-13. It’s a self-imposed curse. Rebekkah begins to use negative lanuage about herself in verse 46 of that chapter. She curses herself.
Sometimes we are the ones cursing ourselves. For example if you have said, “I’m tired of living, or what’s the good of living, or I’ll never be able to do this, or I’m a failure, or I’m no use, or I wish I were dead” – you have cursed yourself. And you are inviting the spirit of death into your life! Many people need to be delivered from the spirit of death because they invited it in themselves. Here is the Word to defeat that spirit – If you have made a negative remark on yourself or about yourself, you need to revoke it and replace it with the positive.
Psalm 118:17 I SHALL NOT DIE BUT LIVE, AND PROCLAIM WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE!
Curses from Unscriptural Covenants – Exodus 23:32 No covenant with people with those who worship other Gods, if you do then you make a covenant with their God. In the Western World, there are Free Masons – that is a covenant that brings a self imposed curse. It is idol based. The true God is joined together with 2 idol deities that God has condemned.
Curses by Practices of Tribal Societies – new babies or a young person is initiated into the tribe by cuts in their skin.
Curses from Servants of Satan from the Evil Side – Witchdoctors, Cutting, Elders in Tribes, Witchcraft. Satan’s servants have the power to curse.
Curses from false gods, and forbidden objects – Deut. 7:26 Burn the carved images of their gods, nor bring it into your house. When you bring anything that is associated with idolatry or the occult into your home you are opening the way for a curse to come into your house.
If you believe you need deliverance, go home and check what you have in your home. See if there is anything there that advertises another god except Jesus Christ. Children are very sensitive to this. They may not sleep at night as they feel it. Somewhere in that house is something that gives Satan access. For example, horseshoes are superstition – they don’t protect you they open the door to Satan.
HOW TO BE RELEASED FROM A CURSE
Establish a scriptural basis for your release – Gal 3:13-14, Eph 1:7, Col 1:12-141 John 3:8,Luke 10:19
Confess your faith in Christ. Jesus is the High Priest.
Commit yourself to obedience – hear God’s voice and do what He says
Confess any know sins by yourself or by your ancestors. Confess the sins of your ancestors too, you are not guilty of their sins, but you are affected by them. Be released from it
Forgive all other persons
Renounce all contact with the occult by yourself and your ancestors
Get rid of all forbidden objects
Release yourself in the Name of Jesus. Whatever you bind on Earth will be bound in Heaven, whatever you release on Earth will be released in Heaven
Confess and Expect the Blessing of Abraham! We are released from the curse to receive the blessing. The Holy Spirit administers the blessing. He has the Key to God’s Storehouse.
Expect the blessing in ALL things. It won’t happen overnight. Go the right direction, you are on the way. Keep walking, keep listening, and doing what God says.
A PRAYER OF RELEASE
Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you are the Son of God and the only way to God, that you died on the Cross for my sins, and rose again from the dead. That on the Cross you were made a curse with every curse that is due to me, that I might be redeemed from the curse and enter into the blessing. Lord I confess any sins committed by me or by my ancestors. I ask your forgiveness. I also forgive every other person who ever harmed me or wronged me.I forgive them as God forgives me. I also forgive myself. I renounce all contact with the occult in any form. And I commit myself to get rid of any contact objects. And now Lord, having received by faith, your forgiveness, with the authority I have as a child of God, I now release myself and those under my authority from any curse over our lives. Right now in the name of Jesus I declare release, I claim it, I receive it by faith in the Name of Jesus! Thank you Lord!
Imagine a rope holding you to another. You could be attached to a good friend or an enemy. Soul ties can be healthy, like in a marriage or close friendship, or they can be deadly, like in a victim and abuser relationship. The relationships that we have and have had in the past create soul ties. Imagine leaving an Abuser and still being tied to them after you leave. And what about the child that was sexually abused. They are tied to the Abuser until all the soul ties are broken. I cannot emphasize the need to break the unhealthy soul ties in your life. I found myself returning to the Abuser time and time again until the soul tie was broken. But there is hope. It is possible to break these ties with the help of God. There is freedom available to us. And the Holy Spirit will help us in our weakness.
The Bible speaks of what is today known as soul ties. In the Bible, it doesn’t use the word soul tie, but it speaks of them when it talks about souls being knit together, becoming one flesh, etc. A soul tie can serve many functions, but in it’s simplest form, it ties two souls together in the spiritual realm. Soul ties between married couples draw them together like magnets, while soul ties between fornicators can draw a beaten and abused woman to the man which in the natural realm she would hate and run from, but instead she runs to him even though he doesn’t love her, and treats her like dirt. In the demonic world, unholy soul ties can serve as bridges between two people to pass demonic garbage through.
Here are 6 signs of unhealthy soul ties from Paula White.
An ungodly soul tie produces irrational thinking. Irrational means not capable of reasoning, having lost mental clarity, illogical.
An ungodly soul tie causes a person to evaluate themselves and others according to previous context. They can’t see outside of that relationship or mental paradigm.
An ungodly soul tie causes a person to shut down emotionally.
An ungodly soul tie produces an unhealthy, unnatural desire or attraction to people, places and things, even to the person’s detriment.
An ungodly soul tie will cause a lack of judgment and discernment.
An ungodly soul tie produces the inability to establish and maintain proper adult relationships.
Dinah in the Bible was raped. She did not ask for it. She did not want it. But it happened. See Genesis 34 for the whole story. Shechem violated her, and it created a soul tie.
Now Dinah daughter of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob, went out [unattended] to see the girls of the place. And when Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he seized her, lay with her, and humbled, defiled, and disgraced her. But his soul longed for and clung to Dinah daughter of Jacob, and he loved the girl and spoke comfortingly to her young heart’s wishes. And Shechem said to his father Hamor, Get me this girl to be my wife. Jacob heard that [Shechem] had defiled Dinah his daughter. Now his sons were with his livestock in the field. So Jacob held his peace until they came. (Genesis 34:1-5 AMP)
I wonder if mental illness comes from unhealthy soul ties. It sure would make sense. When we open the door to the enemy with ungodly relationships there is more than one demon that comes in. There is sexual sin. And if you have ever ‘heard voices’ in your head, that is most likely the result of spirits tormenting you. There is hope – there is a Deliverer who can quiet them and kick them out of your head and spirit and body – King Jesus!
Lord, you gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us clean house. Let us acknowledge our sins and admit that we have ‘tied’ ourselves to idols/individuals whom You never intended us to be united to. Let us confess and repent of all sexual sins – whether intentional or by force. The enemy wanted to destroy us Lord. But God You are greater! Lord – be our door, be our gate. We let the evil out and the good in. We are called and chosen by the King of Kings. What the enemy has tried to steal will be restored 30,60,100 times over.
Holy Spirit, we need your help in bringing the truth to light. We break all unhealthy soul ties from ________(you fill in names) by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony. We ask that all covenants and agreements that we entered into from the enemy be broken in Jesus Name. You are our God and there is no other. Cancel all unhealthy and ungodly agreements Lord. Let those words be turned into dust. Let Your Word prevail Lord – in our hearts, our minds, and our spirits. We choose to honor this body that you have come to live in. We belong to you and we will fulfill your plans for us, in Jesus Name.
Jezebel is a witch. Yes, her father was Ethball, king of the Zidonians, and was both the king and priest of Baal worshipers. Their gods were Baal and Ashtaroth or Astarte. Ahab installed a temple to the Sun-god in Samaria with 450 priests. Jezebel had another sanctuary erected where she fed 400 of them at her table. Cruel and licentious rites were associated with Baal worship. According to BibleHistory.com
Baal (ba’al) was an ancient Canaanite and Mesopotamian deity associated with agriculture. He was believed to be the “giver of life” and mankind was dependant upon him for providing what was necessary to sustain the farms, flocks and herds. He was also called the “son of Dagon” (who was in control of the grain), and “Hadad” the storm god who would provide plentiful rains after hearing his voice (thunder).
And the most amazing thing I found in my research today. Ahab was a Jew and King of Northern Israel at the time. Yet he denounced his Hebrew faith and “took her to wife, and went and served Baal and worshiped him.” (1Kings 16:31) There is a great history lesson on Jezebel here:
Ahab turned his back on God for his relationship with Jezebel. He left his faith, and followed her wicked ways. He was ‘bewitched’ and taken hostage by Jezebel. And he ended up doing things he had not done before – all to keep her approval. Yet, she used him. And all like him.
Jezebel is out for blood. You cannot negotiate with her. She is not interested. She wants to murder you and your children. Seriously. She is out to destroy true worship of Jesus. She is against the Word. She is a witch and will charm her way in to many people’s lives and churches and businesses. Don’t trust her. She is not who she says she is. She is a witch.
God gave Jezebel time to repent. And God gives those with this spirit time to repent. God gave Ahab time to repent too. It could be weeks, months, or years. We don’t know.
I gave her time to repent, but she has no desire to repent of her immorality [symbolic of idolatry] and refuses to do so.
Take note: I will throw her on a bed [of anguish], and those who commit adultery with her [her paramours] I will bring down to pressing distress and severe affliction, unless they turn away their minds from conduct [such as] hers and repent of their doings. (Rev 2:21-22 AMP)
If you have helped a Jezebel, or submitted to one in your past, I urge you to break the soul-ties with this person and repent. Jezebel uses her bewitching powers of seduction to lure her victims in and create soul ties. She pretends to be your friend. She lures you in. Then she uses witchcraft, divination, and the spirit of seduction to tempt and entice you into doing something they would normally not do. She sends spirits to torment your mind, emotions, and imagination. She wants to control you. I found myself falling into all sorts of old destructive behaviors when influenced by this spirit. And I didn’t know why. Even after the relationship/friendship ended there was a ‘residue’. I awoke the other morning with a vision of a snake coiled around me trying to squeeze me to death. It was a ‘leftover’ from the Jezebel. I rebuked it in the name of Jesus and commanded it to leave me, my family, my finances, my health, my home, and my church. Soul ties are created in many ways. It’s not just sex that opens the door to a soul tie. According to Jonas Clark:
Soul ties can be created by :
shared life experiences
loss of a loved one
flattery of the prideful
reaching out to the lonely
agreeing with Jezebels’ offenses, hurts, wounds, and unforgiveness towards those in authority or leadership
Once these soul ties are established, she has won. Jezebels are Narcissistic. They have no concern for you or your feelings. They are out to conquer and win. They lie and they believe their own lies. The justify everything they do. They are never wrong. And they are incapable of forgiveness.
End the relationship. Change your phone number. Do not allow the Jezebel into your life anymore. It is not just her, it is all the demons she caters to that you are letting in as well – into your home, into your peace, into your head. End it.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I have not posted on this subject yet this month, but today I want to share a few entries from my journal. Someone you know is most likely affected by Domestic Violence. Last I heard DV affects 1/3 women and 1/6 men in the United States. And I am sure these numbers go up in other places.
I have been in many abusive relationships. Not by choice. I didn’t want to live that way. But, thanks to God, I got the help I needed and my kids and I have been free from DV for about 10 years now. Being as I have had more than one ‘psycho’ in my life, I will change the names and dates so they don’t start harassing me again. This is one of the reasons I have not always shared. We do open ourselves up for more harassment if the Abuser finds out. But I want you to know the sheer terror and fear a victim lives with every day. And it does get worse when we leave, trust me.
One of the things the Police, Lawyers, and Advocates taught me early on was to keep a journal of every abusive thing that happens. We often have to prove in court that the pattern of Abuse has happened over a period of time. I have also shared these with Guardian-at-litum – the attorny that was appointed for the kids when I was getting divorced. It helped me receive FULL custody and FULL placement of my kids. And it reminds me, of the truth. Denial is powerful. And so is learned helplessness. Thank you Lord, for deliverance from violent and evil men!
For my protection I will name the Abuser “Joe”, but in my journal I used his real name. These are just a few entries…
Journal Entries from a Former Domestic Violence Victim
” I can’t believe how nice Joe is being after this fight. Take a step back Diana. Remember how nice Delilah was to Samson before she handed him over to be killed? Don’t believe it. It is not true. The spirit is not dumb. Don’t go there, not now, it is not the right time. The proof is in the pudding”
“Joe’s anger is not the issue. He is angry and abusive to any woman. It is the Spirit of Anger that drives him. And Joe likes it that way. But God will be your shield and buckler.”
“I can’t believe Joe came to church after I left him. And then he sits down right next to me. God speaks to my spirit, “Let My works speak for themselves.” The Lord will be my Protector and my Defense. And then Joe tried to touch me. In the spirit I felt him put his hands around my neck as he had done so many times. I got up and walked away. God is my Defender and Protector – not you Joe.”
“Last night was prayer group. I was praying for my kids. While praying I spoke against the spirit in Joe. It looked like an Octopus with arms everywhere. I spoke against in Jesus Name and it crawled into a corner.”
“I can’t believe I slept with the Enemy. And then I married him.”
“Don’t respond when the Demons rise. Joe came to pick up the kids for his visit at my work. Comes over and says, ‘I love you D.’ Those are just empty words again. I don’t respond. So then he took my daughter J and went and cut her hair – really, really short. Joe knew I would not have approved. He chose to use her as a weapon against me, and she is only 6. That is not love.”
“Well, Joe screamed at me in the parking lot at my work – again. My friend Patty came out and asked if there was anything wrong and if I was ok. Joe kept screaming at me.”
“Joe came to drop off kids on the side of the building. (It was a grocery store – we always met in public places for drop offs and pick ups for safety reasons. My youngest was only 4 and still in a carseat). Joe pulled next to me and tried to carry my youngest child into my van. I told Joe he was not going in my van. I buckled my child in and Joe traps me and the kids in my van. He stands in the sliding door and refuses to move. Joe says his name is still on the van and he wants it back. I get a picture in my head of an angry dog – yelling and screaming and barking all while it devours its prey. I backed up out of the van, using my body to force him back and away from the kids. Protect the kids Diana. I shut the sliding van door and got in the drivers seart. I tried to roll up the window but I wasn’t fast enough. Joe held it down. I started the car and started backing up – terrified. Joe finally backed off, got in his car and squeeled his tires as he sped away.”
“No more Lord – I release Joe to You. I took off my wedding ring today and put it in the garage. Deliver us Lord. Joe called me 3 times that night. I didn’t answer.”
“It’s 40 days since I left. I went back to the park and cried a pillar of tears. I wrestled with God and ‘buried’ Joe and our marriage. The Army used to kill Deserters. It’s over.”
Psalm 35:1-9 (AMP)
Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me!
Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help!
Draw out also the spear and javelin and close up the way of those who pursue and persecute me. Say to me, I am your deliverance!
Let them be put to shame and dishonor who seek and require my life; let them be turned back and confounded who plan my hurt!
Let them be as chaff before the wind, with the Angel of the Lord driving them on!
Let their way be through dark and slippery places, with the Angel of the Lord pursuing and afflicting them.
For without cause they hid for me their net; a pit of destruction without cause they dug for my life.
Let destruction befall [my foe] unawares; let the net he hid for me catch him; let him fall into that very destruction.
Then I shall be joyful in the Lord; I shall rejoice in His deliverance.
Today I would like to share my experience with doors and tokens. This is a true story of how I learned to protect myself, my family and my home from the enemy. Thank you Lord
Doors open from both sides.
One side is good and one side is bad.
And unfortunately when we open the doors of our homes to others, they bring things with them – both good and bad.
Recently I believed a liar. Yes, I fell for it. There was a girl I knew that lied to me. She said she had been raped. Being a former teacher I took this very seriously. And of course, because I had been raped as a teenager it was an open doorway for the enemy to enter.
Now I thought this door was shut.
But when this girl knocked on the closed door – I was the one who opened it.
And I let her in.
She lived with us for a while. We fed her, I played taxi driver, and I took her to all her appointments. I did her laundry. She is definitely a Jezebel Spirit. I am learning more and more about that. And then the truth was revealed.
She had used the ‘rape’ story to go from house to house for years. I caught her in lie after lie and finally told her to move out. She was very promiscuous and tried flirting with my husband, my son, and all the men at our church. I helped her get an apartment and food and helped her enroll in college. Despite the enemy, I did and still do want her to be delivered from the demons that are inside her. She seems devoted to destruction.
When she left there were still some of her things in the room we let her use. I removed them and returned them to her. While I was cleaning this room I felt something jump off the curtains and onto my back. Yes, a bad spirit. I rebuked it in Jesus Name, and anointed the room with oil. God uses oil all the time for His Spirit.
Anyway I also closed the bank account that we had for her and gave her the money. But she still kept calling. I didn’t answer and I unfriended her on FaceBook. Can I tell you that since I started helping her our finances took a nose dive? And I had thing after thing break – lawnmower, coffee pot, outlets, lights, dryer, cell phones, grill, flat tires, etc. It was like a tornado went through our house. My daughter was in a car accident. My son had a really bad bout with depression. My old ways of self-harm surfaced, and my husband took a bad trip. Very strange things happened. We were not our normal fun selves. All of us were affected by the spirits she brought into our home.
Then when I dropped off the last piece of stuff I had of hers at her new place she gave me this card that said “I love you”. The next week things went haywire here. It was then that God said to get rid of that card – there were bad spirits attached to it and they were infiltrating. I threw it out on the highway and cursed any and all demons that came to me and my home and family because of it.
It was a token and the enemy was using it as a doorway.
My Pastor gave me some Queen Esther oil. I anointed every doorway and window in our home pleading the Blood of Jesus for protection. God promised the enemy would pass over us if we are under the blood of Jesus.
She is still knocking at the door. But today I am not opening it. I do not pick her up for church anymore. I do not entertain the spirit of the enemy. I will not coddle it, feed it, or enable it to hurt me or my family. I cast it out in Jesus Name. No more valley of trouble for our family.
Would you believe that since I got rid of the tokens and kicked her out the door has shut. I opened it so I had to shut it. Our finances are back on track. Our business is doing great. My music is taking off. And all is well. Thank you Lord, for protection, and wisdom, and Truth!
7 Lessons Learned from Doors and Tokens:
1. Get rid of all tokens no matter what they are. Curse them, burn them, and send them back to the pit where they came from in Jesus Name.
2. Don’t invite the enemy in. Jesus is the Savior, not me. I can’t change someone, He can. Not everyone wants to change. Some people are perfectly content spreading chaos and confusion everywhere they go. Some people are devoted to destruction. Don’t let them in.
3. Be wise – test the spirits. Often a wounded person will carry with them the spirits of division, destruction, and desolation. When you invite them in you also let those things in.
4. Evaluate relationships and be cautious. Be careful who you share your personal life with. Not everyone is looking out for your best interests. Not everyone wants to see you succeed. Many want to kick you when you are down and laugh at you due to their own insecurities.
5. Just ‘going to church’ does not mean that a person is under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The enemy goes to church all the time. That’s where the battle is. Even the demons know the Word.
6. God is greater and He will restore all things. Nobody can take us from His hand. His arm is mighty to save.
7. Clean house today. Close the door to the enemy, and don’t answer if he knocks. That’s why Jesus says He is the door. Let Him guide us as to who can come in and who needs to stay out. And let go of the garbage!
Joshua 7 Amplified Bible (AMP)
7 But the Israelites committed a trespass in regard to the devoted things; for Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of the things devoted [for destruction]. And the anger of the Lord burned against Israel. 2 Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth-aven, east of Bethel, and said to them, Go up and spy out the land. So the men went up and spied out Ai. 3 And they returned to Joshua and said to him, Let not all the men go up; but let about two thousand or three thousand go up and attack Ai; do not make the whole army toil up there, for they of Ai are few. 4 So about three thousand Israelites went up there, but they fled before the men of Ai. 5 And the men of Ai killed about thirty-six of them, for they chased them from before the gate as far as Shebarim, and slew them at the descent. And the hearts of the people melted and became as water. 6 Then Joshua rent his clothes and lay on the earth upon his face before the ark of the Lord until evening, he and the elders of Israel; and they put dust on their heads. 7 Joshua said, Alas, O Lord God, why have You brought this people over the Jordan at all only to give us into the hands of the Amorites to destroy us? Would that we had been content to dwell beyond the Jordan! 8 O Lord, what can I say, now that Israel has turned to flee before their enemies! 9 For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it and will surround us and cut off our name from the earth. And what will You do for Your great name? 10 The Lord said to Joshua, Get up! Why do you lie thus upon your face? 11 Israel has sinned; they have transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. They have taken some of the things devoted [for destruction]; they have stolen, and lied, and put them among their own baggage. 12 That is why the Israelites could not stand before their enemies, but fled before them; they are accursed and have become devoted [for destruction]. I will cease to be with you unless you destroy the accursed [devoted] things among you. 13 Up, sanctify (set apart for a holy purpose) the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow; for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: There are accursed things in the midst of you, O Israel. You can not stand before your enemies until you take away from among you the things devoted [to destruction]. 14 In the morning therefore, you shall present your tribes. And the tribe which the Lord takes shall come by families; and the family which the Lord takes shall come by households; and the household which the Lord takes shall come by persons. 15 And he who is taken with the devoted things shall be [killed and his body] burned with fire, he and all he has, because he has transgressed the covenant of the Lord and because he has done a shameful and wicked thing in Israel. 16 So Joshua rose up early in the morning and brought Israel near by their tribes, and the tribe of Judah was taken. 17 He brought near the family of Judah, and the family of the Zerahites was taken; and he brought near the family of the Zerahites man by man, and Zabdi was taken. 18 He brought near his household man by man, and Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken. 19 And Joshua said to Achan, My son, give glory to the Lord, the God of Israel, and make confession to Him. And tell me now what you have done; do not hide it from me. 20 And Achan answered Joshua, In truth, I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel, and this have I done: 21 When I saw among the spoils an attractive mantle from Shinar and two hundred shekels of silver and a bar of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. Behold, they are hidden in the earth inside my tent, with the silver underneath. 22 So Joshua sent messengers, who ran to the tent, and behold, the spoil was hidden in his tent, with the silver underneath. 23 And they took them from the tent and brought them to Joshua and all the Israelites and laid them out before the Lord. 24 And Joshua and all Israel with him took Achan son of Zerah, and the silver, the garment, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had; and they brought them to the Valley of Achor. 25 And Joshua said, Why have you brought trouble on us? The Lord will trouble you this day. And all Israel stoned him and those with him with stones, and afterward burned their bodies with fire. 26 And they raised over him a great heap of stones that remains to this day. Then the Lord turned from the fierceness of His anger. Therefore the name of that place has been called the Valley of Achor or Troubling to this day.
Love is messy. It’s not for the faint at heart that’s for sure. And it’s not for the fault finders either. We are all still human and how we respond to someone’s mistake or weakness shows others how soft or how hard our heart is. As a parent I am still learning and growing. I make mistakes. And so do my kids. But I am learning to give them and me the same grace I give others. It’s so funny, I have bent over backwards helping others, yet I confess, I am not always the best mom. I am not always present in the moment. I mean, I try, but sometimes I get sidetracked, or take a wrong turn, or just check out. How about you?
So, this new year I have decided I need to give my family the same love and grace I give to a stranger. I am going to treat myself and my body with a new found love. No, I am not going new-age on you here. But I have to confess, once a girl is raped and abused – we see ourselves differently. We think we are dirty and trash. And this spirit of self-loathing sets in. Self-hatred. Destruction. Kill, steal, destroy yourself and your body. Those thoughts are not from God, and they are not healthy. They are a lie that the enemy has planted in my soul. And they are not true. It’s time to close this door.
How do you know if you have let this spirit live inside you? I came across an interesting Bible Study:
Here the Author shares about the anti-self bondages with reference to mental illness and health problems:
Henry Wright, who I consider highly knowledgeable and gifted in the area of physical and emotional healing, considers anti-self (self-unforgiveness, self-resentment, self-hate, self-rejection, etc.) issues as one of the major sources of many physical and mental health problems.
Now of course, we’re not saying that Satan and evil spirits don’t run rapid in witchcraft, Satanism, and so forth, but do you know why people get involved in many of those things? Rejection, for example, is one of the main forces that push our youth right into Satanism. Rebellion and insecurity are among the forces that push people into witchcraft (power and manipulation, control, etc.). If you take away the doorways (rejection, insecurity, rebellion, self-hate, unforgiveness, and so forth), then I have to seriously question if Satanism, witchcraft and the ‘heavier’ things would even have a chance!
Today I cast off the enemies plans for myself and my body. I accept God’s plans for me and my family. All things work together for good, and God says He has thoughts and plans for me, for good and not for evil. And today, I am shutting the door to the enemy! No more self-hatred. No more self-loathing. No more destruction, in Jesus Name.
Now I do not know Henry Wright – I haven’t really heard anything about him. But I do know that this makes sense. So I did a little more digging. In this video he says that 80% of all disease has a common problem – and that is lack of love. It involves separation – separation from God. Especailly from God as Father. I know I have not really known God as Father. Lord, show me more…
I am taking back my life. I confess, and I repent.
Have you ever heard voices in your head? No I am not crazy. But I do know that not all voices are good – and sometimes we just need to tell them to shut up. Especially the accusing voice. The voice that likes to condemn, and put down, and talks about how unworthy you are. Can I say right now, that is NOT the voice of God. God is the lifter of our heads. It is the enemy trying to get us to run and hide in the bushes. Because we have a Royal Calling – a Destiny in the Kingdom. And we have been authorized to advance the Kingdom – we are Ambassadors of Christ. We carry His Power and Authority to do His work. That’s why the enemy keeps trying to talk to us and get us to run and hide. Like Adam and Eve did after they ate that apple – they went and hid in the bushes.
But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
(Psalm 3:3 AMP)
Remember Eve in the Garden with the snake? He told Eve that God was holding out on her. That if she ate that apple she would be like God. But guess what – he lied to her. SHE ALREADY WAS LIKE GOD! That stupid snake told her she was NOT something that she already was! So, the enemy accused her. Told her she was NOT…when she already was. What does the enemy accuse you of? What is that voice in your head falsely accusing you of?
If you hear – You are NOT pretty – it is a lie. God says You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
If you hear – You are NOT smart – it is a lie. God says You have the mind of Christ.
If you hear – You are NOT going to be free – it is a lie. Jesus Christ already paid the price for your freedom. You are free!
See what I mean? Don’t believe that voice. It is not true. That is why it is so important for us to read the Word. How do we know what is true if we don’t know the Word? How can we tell the enemy to shut up because God says…..if we don’t know what God said.
The Accuser is no longer in God’s ear whispering. We do not live in Job’s era. God kicked the Devil out of Heaven. He doesn’t live there anymore. This is New Testament times. However, now the Devil may be in your ear accusing you. Just because he says something does not mean it is true. He lied to Eve and I think he is the father of lies.
You are of your father, the devil, and it is your will to practice the lusts and gratify the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a falsehood, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar [himself] and the father of lies and of all that is false. (John 8:44 AMP)
Cast him down – God already did. Enforce the victory! Do not let that condemning voice talk anymore – it is your head. Take control of your thoughts. Any thoughts that are not in line with the Word of God YOU have the AUTHORITY and LEGAL RIGHT to take them captive and kick them out! Yes, there is a battle going on – but we know who wins! Take charge of your thoughts! We get to kick out the bad ones!
For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons.
For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds,
[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),
Being in readiness to punish every [insubordinate for his] disobedience, when your own submission and obedience [as a church] are fully secured and complete. (2 Corinthians 10:3-6 AMP)
And more good news – Jesus is the one who is whispering good things in God’s ear about us!
Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect [when it is] God Who justifies [that is, Who puts us in right relation to Himself? Who shall come forward and accuse or impeach those whom God has chosen? Will God, Who acquits us?] Who is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us?
(Romans 8:33-34 AMP)
God wants to lift our heads. I think I’ll let Him – what about you?
Every once in a while The Lord leads you to a message, a Word that you needed to make it that day. My husband Bob has been listening to healing sermons by Evelyn Gipson out of Life Church in Roscoe, IL. Bob and I went to her Healing School about a year ago. We were so blessed. And we are hungry. We want to be well. We want to be whole. Evelyn has so much Word in her you can’t help but be refreshed when you listen to her. Bob has been on fire these past few weeks just listening to the Word that God gives her! I’m so loving it here!
Here is a link to some of Evelyn’s Discipleship Training:
So today I thought I would listen again for myself. His enthusiasm is contagious and I just had to see for myself. I sat and listened to Evelyn’s first message. And WOW! What a blessed Minister of the Word! And then, I went online to find more. Yep, I’m hungry!
So I go the the website and start searching the titles. And God leads me to this video is by Bev Tucker from the same church. She too is a powerhouse and teaches about Deliverance. I about fell out of my chair when she did the thing with the rose. It was like 50 years of my life finally made sense. And so did all those other things she talks about – like broken hearts, trauma, abuse, mental illness, and things like Dissociative Personality Disorder. Seriously, I have never heard a Pastor talk about these things. Yet many of us suffer. And we are starving looking for answers. That’s why we come looking, seeking for a way to be whole. We know were broken, you don’t have to tell us that…that’s why we came.
Bev’s example made so much sense to me. Think about it. When we get in an accident and go to the hospital the Nurses and Doctors clean the wounds, and attempt to put us back together again. They are smart, and are using the gift that God gave them to repair and rebuild.
But what about the soul injury? Our thoughts, feelings, emotions, our personality – how do they get healed? As Bev says, the world and the psychologists and psychiatrists acknowledge the problem. They know what is happening, even down to the chemistry and brain function. They can medicate it, but they can’t fix it. I speak from my experience. I went to them for years upon years. Yes, I acknowledged how and why I was broken. But can you fix it? I don’t know about you, but all they gave me was more talk about what I couldn’t change (my past) and more pills.
So then I went to church. Still broken, still looking for answers and healing. However most of the time the Church doesn’t even acknowledge or address the brokenness in a person. And we have the answer. The only way a person can be made whole again – Jesus Christ and the healing work of the Holy Spirit. But we don’t talk about that part cuz we are so busy “looking good”. Again, my opinion.
The Church is supposed to the the Hospital!
Injury, hurt, trauma, abuse, divorce, witchcraft, drugs, alcohol, whatever – they all leave their mark on our mind, will, and emotions. Even Lazarus needed someone to remove the bandages after Jesus raised him from the dead! Want to be healed? Want that abundant life God promised?
Watch this video – especially the rose part – and decide for yourself.
Some religion scholars sitting there started whispering among themselves, “He can’t talk that way! That’s blasphemy! God and only God can forgive sins.” Jesus knew right away what they were thinking, and said, “Why are you so skeptical? Which is simpler: to say to the paraplegic, ‘I forgive your sins,’ or say, ‘Get up, take your stretcher, and start walking’? Well, just so it’s clear that I’m the Son of Man and authorized to do either, or both . . .” (he looked now at the paraplegic), “Get up. Pick up your stretcher and go home.” And the man did it—got up, grabbed his stretcher, and walked out, with everyone there watching him. They rubbed their eyes, incredulous—and then praised God, saying, “We’ve never seen anything like this!” (Mark 2: 6-12 MSG)
