Rescue: A Spiritual Journey Through Heart Issues

I thought I was having a stroke last week. I was so dizzy and I couldn’t read the words on a page, it kept moving. I got my husband up and Bob brought me to the hospital. After blood tests, EKG, CT scan, Chest X-ray, and exam they told me it was not a stroke. Thank you Jesus! However they did find something else with the EKG. They called it a secondary heart block- type 1. In layman’s terms it means my heart is skipping beats.

My father who has since passed away had a defibrillator. His heart didn’t skip beats, it just plain stopped. He had his first heart attack and fell off a stool. The paramedics worked on him for like 20 minutes, and he was resuscitated. He had a Cardiologist too. He ended up getting a device implanted in his upper chest. His internal device would shock him every time his heart tried to do that again. Genetics? Yes, I guess so.

Then I wore an Event Monitor for a week. Just looked at those test results this morning, ugggh. Some things should not be Googled! I see an Electrophysiologist in February. That’s a Cardiologist that specializes in the hearts electrical systems.

So what is a girl to do? I could hibernate and stay in bed letting fear and anxiety take over. That is what I did in the past. But, definitely not helpful. But that’s not me today. I knew I needed to turn to Jesus. I needed a rescue, a deliverance. So, I started reading a Bible in a Year plan. I needed to fill my spirit with God’s Word everyday. I needed my hope and faith cup filled again.

I also joined a group called Nashville Christian Songwriters to help me to continue to write Christian music. I am learning so much there about songwriting. We start our weekly calls with a prayer. It’s a great group of Christian Songwriters. Listening to everyone’s songs lifts my spirit too. Thank you NCS!

So here is a song I wrote called Rescue. It is my prayer this month.

RESCUE

Copyright 2026 Diana Rasmussen

[verse]
God, I’m a wreck, longing for your grace,
For the burdens I can’t seem to erase
I am still carrying this weight
I’m feeling trapped inside this heavy place
Lord I need your rescue

[Chorus]
Lord, I need your rescue,
I’m reaching out to make a new start.
Can you guide my inner heart?
Check my spirit and my sight
Show me what is wrong and right
Oh Lord, I need your rescue.

[verse]
I’ve fallen at your feet countless times.
Will I always have battles in my mind?
You know the paths I have traveled
Teach me to follow where your Spirit guides

[Chorus]
Lord, I need your rescue,
I’m reaching out to make a new start.
Can you guide my inner heart?
Check my spirit and my sight
Show me what is wrong and right
Oh Lord, I need your rescue.

[Bridge]
Now I turn my focus to you, my God.
Renew my heart, my mind and my spirit
With your living Word
Lord I need your rescue

[Chorus]
Lord, I need your rescue,
I’m reaching out to make a new start.
Can you guide my inner heart?
Check my spirit and my sight
Show me what is wrong and right
Oh Lord, I need your rescue.

I Call You By Name

I heard this song for the first time today. It was an ‘ah-hah’ moment and I wanted to share it with you. Maybe you are like me and have a past full of junk. Maybe there are old scripts running through your mind that need be erased forever. Maybe you need a new outlook, like I do. This song may help…

By Name

By Micah Tyler 2020

I don’t call you by your darkest secret
I don’t call you by your loneliness
The reasons you hide away from the light
They could never make me love you less

I don’t call you by your broken family
I don’t call you by what you can’t change
The past like a cloud can chase you around
But hear my voice whisper through the rain

I know your story, I wrote every line
Planned every step that you’ll take
Lift up your head and believe what I say
I don’t call you by your guilt or shame

I call you by name
By name

All the voices in your head are lying
They’re saying this is how it’s always gonna be
But they’re all gonna bow at the strong, tender sound
When I tell you who you are to me

I know your story, I wrote every line
Planned every step that you’ll take
Lift up your head and believe what I say
I don’t call you by your guilt or shame

I call you by name

Beloved, forgiven
And bought at a price
My son, my daughter
Forever you’re mine

I don’t call you by your darkest secret
I don’t call you anything but loved

I know your story, I wrote every line
Planned every step that you’ll take
Lift up your head and believe what I say
I don’t call you by your guilt or shame
I don’t call you by your guilt or shame

I call you by name
By name, by name

Unlock Your Potential: Rise Up Like Lazarus

I hears Cain’s Song “Rise Up” today and it sparked a fire in my soul. I’d like to share it with you so you too can RISE UP! It doesn’t matter what we are going through right now. God is calling our name and helping us to RISE UP out of the grave of despair and depression. Our light has come and the Glory of the Lord is risen upon us!

Bible Verses with “Rise” or “Rise Up”:

  • Psalm 68:1:“Rise up, O God, and scatter your enemies! Let those who hate you flee before you!”
  • Isaiah 60:1:“Rise up, shine! For your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.”
  • Hebrews 12:1:“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
  • Joshua 1:9:“Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
  • Matthew 28:6:“But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, as He said. Come, see the place where He lay.'”
  • Acts 3:6-8:“Then Peter said to him, ‘Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.’ And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up. And immediately his feet and ankle bones were made strong.”
  • Isaiah 40:31:“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
  • Jeremiah 29:11:“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

RISE UP by Cain

In the dark and all alone, growing comfortable
Are you too scared to move and walk out of this tomb?
Buried underneath, the lies that you believed
Safe and sound, stuck in the ground
Too lost to be found

You’re just asleep and it’s time to leave

Come on and rise up, take a breath, you’re alive now
Can’t you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out from the grave like Lazarus
You’re brand new, the power of death couldn’t hold you
Can’t you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out from the grave like Lazarus
Rise up, rise up, rise up
Out from the grave like Lazarus

When He said your name, the thing that filled your veins
Was more than blood, it’s the kind of love that washes sin away
Now the door is open wide and the stones been rolled aside
The old is gone, the Light has come, so

Come on and rise up, take a breath, you’re alive now
Can’t you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out from the grave like Lazarus
You’re brand new, the power of death couldn’t hold you
Can’t you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out from the grave like Lazarus
Rise up (like Lazarus) rise up, rise up
Out from the grave like Lazarus

He’s calling us to walk out of the dark
He’s giving us new resurrected hearts, oh-whoa
He’s calling us to walk out of the dark
He’s giving us new resurrected hearts, oh

Come on and rise up, take a breath, you’re alive now
Can’t you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out from the grave like Lazarus
You’re brand new, the power of death couldn’t hold you
Can’t you hear the voice of Jesus calling us
Out from the grave like Lazarus
Rise up (He’s calling you out, no) rise up
Get me up from the grave like Lazarus

Rise up (You don’t have to stay there)
Rise up (oh, we hear You calling)
Rise up (calling us, calling us)
Out from the grave like Lazarus

God’s Deliverance from Domestic Violence – TRIGGER WARNING

Hello Friends. It is finally time. I recently led a Bible Study on how God delivered me from living in domestic violence. Here are the 2 videos and the PowerPoint Slides from my presentation.

Keep in mind, I tell it like it was – meaning these videos are NOT for children. There are many references to what really happened behind closed doors. This post may trigger some, I kept it real. That’s the only way to heal. I did not use anyone’s name in order to protect their privacy. I simply refer to them with a Number.

“If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just [true to His own nature and promises], and will forgive our sins and cleanse us continually from all unrighteousness [our wrongdoing, everything not in conformity with His will and purpose].” – 1 John 1:9 AMP

These events happened 18 years ago. Since then, I have been free and I love my life with my husband of 17 years, our 6 children, and 7 (soon to be 9) grandchildren. Praise the Lord! God is good!

God’s Deliverance from Domestic Violence – Part 1

God’s Deliverance from Domestic Violence – Part 2

PowerPoint Presentation

Please seek help if you or someone you know lives in domestic abuse. Here are a few numbers/websites you can use to get help.

Read my book here:

“Smothered by control, she runs to hide and locks herself behind the door. She starts rocking herself on the cold bathroom floor as she lays her secrets out like rock hard stones. He is outside the door pounding his fists quoting his Bible. He screams, “You must obey!” She grabs the razor at the side of the tub, then looks away.

Diana Rasmussen takes you behind the locked door to see what it’s really like when you live in domestic violence. As a survivor she fought for her and her children’s freedom and won. Theses poems are from her private journals and many have become songs. Fans have called her words “haunting, powerful, and edgy”. See for yourself, and come into her nightmare in SNOW WHITE DARKNESS.”

There is no God in AI(artificial intelligence) – Diana Rasmussen’s Testimony

My pastors have been asking us to write a testimony about what God has done in our life.

Like any intelligent woman I thought this will be easy – I’ll just ask Google!

So I have the Chat On AI app on my phone. Probably came with the phone, lol! I typed in a few items:

“Diana Rasmussen, Prayers and Promises, WI, Songwriter, Worship Leader, Janesville Apostolic Ministries, Shop owner of Groovy_Grandma on Poshmark”

Ready to see who Goggle says I am?

Bio for Diana Rasmussen

Oh my goodness, that is certainly a mouthful. Yes, it’s true but it’s kind of dry. I think that it is interesting that the sane blog that I started 10 years ago, Prayers and Promises, has over 1 million views now. I haven’t really advertised it and have been selective on which ads I allow, certainly no popups, I hate those.

My point is that Google scraped the same info I wrote about and did NOT include GOD or any of the things God has helped me overcome! There is NO GOD IN AI (Artificial Intelligence)!

Where is the info on:

  • Living in and being delivered from domestic violence multiple times.
  • Being stalked by multiple people.
  • Being raped.
  • Trading love for lust in most relationships.
  • Being raised in an alcoholic household.
  • 10 plus years of those 12 step meetings.
  • Years of counseling.
  • Participating with n sexually deviant behavior to be accepted and loved.
  • Having my now ex-husband sleep with my best friend.
  • Losing placement of my kids during my 1st divorce.
  • Multiple trips to the Psych Ward for self harming with razors snd script drugs.
  • Broken leg from ladder twisting 180 degrees, broken arm, car crashes, 3 totaled cars
  • Peripheral Neuropathy, Degenerative Disc Disease, paralyzing back pain.
  • Too many falls to count then walkers, crutches, canes.
  • Heart Attack during Covid – no visitors.
  • Losing my job due to my disability and then losing friends too.
  • Grief from death of both parents and both in-laws.
  • Feeling helpless with my husband’s ongoing pain after falling off ladder and onto stainless steel counter resulting in 7 broken ribs. God heal him now in Jesus Name!
  • Having that Empty Nest feeling after all your kids move out and go on without you. I know they are doing what we taught them – go live life and love it.

Yes, the enemy desires to kill, steal, and destroy me. There have been many accidents, illnesses, and various attacks on my body and my mind and spirit.

But guess what enemy? GOD is greater and He will deliver me!

What about all that Google? Where is that on my AI (artificial intelligence) biography? God has delivered me or is still delivering me from all that stuff! Let’s testify what GOD has done in my life. Here is my testimony!

  • I have repented and admitted I was living my life without God. I wanted that to change. I want God’s help now. God has forgiven me of my sins, past, present, and future. He knew I wasn’t perfect and loved me anyway.
  • I have been baptized in Jesus Name. My sins were washed in the water and I called on the Name of Jesus Christ.
  • I have been given a deposit of my inheritance, the gift of the Holy Ghost with speaking in other tongues.
  • God has and is still teaching me in His Word, the Bible. He helps me make better choices and shows me how to live and be more like Jesus.
  • GOD has delivered me from self harming. God has renewed my mind as I read his Word and I no longer believe the lies of the enemy.
  • God has delivered me from lust and taught me what real love looks like.
  • God has restored my view of marriage and what pleases Him. I didn’t know what love was, only abandonment and abuse. God had to heal my heart and my thoughts.
  • God has healed my heart 100%. One year later my heart is totally and completely healed! No more cardiology visits and no more heart drugs! Praise the Lord!
  • God has delivered me from unfaithful men. My husband is a man of God with a great weight of glory upon him. He is one of the Pastors at our church now. I and my family are so blessed to have a man that believes and talks to God. What an amazing testimony he has too!
  • God has provided me an opportunity to use the gift of music to usher in His presence in a Bible believing spirit filled church, Janesville Apostolic Ministries Thank you Lord for music!
  • God has given me an outlet to share what God has done in my life, my blog Prayers and Promises! My therapist at the time said I needed a place to let out my feelings. Now I find it easier to write than talk, lol!
  • The Holy Spirit continues to heal my grief. I am learning to trust God and be grateful that all 4 of them are at peace now with no more pain.
  • God has provided for me and my family. When we (me and 2 kids ages 6 and 3) left for the domestic violence center we had 2 black garbage bags of belongings. God has restored it ALL seven times over!
  • God has blessed me with 4 kids and 2 step-kids and 5 grandkids with 1 more on the way! My relationships with my children are being restored.
  • God has protected me from evil. He has taught me to put oil on my door posts and above the windows so the enemy will pass over me. Just like they did in the Old Testament when the Israelites put the blood of the lamb on their doorposts.
  • God has and is teaching me how to apply the blood of Jesus on my life, my body, my marriage, my church, my family and every situation for health and healing.
  • God has taught me to hold up that shield of faith to stop the enemy’s darts from getting in.
  • God has given me discernment, the hard way, He taught me not to let every spirit in my house.
  • God has and is delivering me from infirmity as I walk this out in faith.
  • God has and is restoring my hope in the future. For many years I couldn’t dream or have future goals. God has restored hope because He said in his Word that He had plans for me for good, and for a future.
  • The Holy Spirit is helping me remember what Jesus said. He is comforting and healing me more every day.

Life is way more than what we do or what Google says. Now that is my testimony! God is real and He is still in the delivering business!

Thank you Jesus You redeemed my life. You pulled me up out of the darkness and into the light! You have restored all that the enemy had stolen from me. Jesus you have renewed my body, mind, and spirit and are continuing to do so. God you bring me hope every time I read your Word. You are my anchor in the storm. He who the Son sets free is free indeed!

The Bait of Satan – Living Free from Offense: 20 Powerful Quotes Revealed

I recently started reading John Bevere’s book – The Bait of Satan – Living Free from the Deadly Trap of Offense. What an eyeopener! I am only on Chapter 2 and I already knew I had to share some quotes from this book for you! I never realized that offences towards others was a plot of the enemy to destroy my walk with God and others.

From the Amazon Audible description: Escape the enemy’s deadly trap! The Bait of Satan exposes one of the most deceptive snares Satan uses to get believers out of the will of God – offense. Most people who are ensnared by the bait of Satan don’t even realize it. Don’t be fooled! You will encounter offense, and it’s up to you how it will affect your relationship with God. Your response will determine your future. If offense is handled correctly, you will become stronger rather than bitter. In this tenth anniversary edition of his best-selling book, John Bevere shows you how to stay free from offense and escape the victim mentality.

With more than 400,000 copies in print, this audio book includes testimonials of transformed people who have read the original book and a devotional supplement, featuring discussion questions, scriptures, and prayers. You will find answers to tough questions like these: Why am I compelled to tell “my side” of the story? How can I fight thoughts of suspicion or distrust? What can I do to stop rehearsing past hurts? How can I regain trust after someone deeply offends me? This audio book will help you escape the enemy’s “offensive trap” as well as empower you to stay free of offense, enabling you to have an unhindered relationship with God.

20 Quotes from John Bevere’s Book – The Bait of Satan – Living Free from the Deadly Trap of Offense:

  1. “If we don’t risk being hurt, we cannot give unconditional love. Unconditional love gives others the right to hurt us.”
  2. “Many are unable to function properly in their calling because of the wounds and hurts that offenses have caused in their lives. They are handicapped and hindered from fulfilling their full potential. Most often it is a fellow believer who has hurt them.”
  3. “Sin easily hides where there is no heat of trials and afflictions.”
  4. “Jesus said, “It is impossible that no offenses should come” (Luke 17:1). It is not a question of opportunity to be offended, but what your response will be. It is an unfortunate fact that, not some, but many are offended and held captive.”
  5. “The Bible is very clear that in the last days men will be “lovers of themselves” (2 Tim. 3:2).”
  6. “A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, and contentions are like the bars of a castle. —PROVERBS 18:19
  7. “Bitterness is a root. If roots are nursed—watered, protected, fed, and given attention—they increase in depth and strength. If not dealt with quickly, roots are hard to pull up. The strength of the offense will continue to grow. We are therefore exhorted not to let the sun go down on our wrath. (See Ephesians 4:26.) Now instead of the fruit of righteousness being produced, we will see a harvest of anger, resentment, jealousy, hatred, strife, and discord. Jesus called these evil fruits.”
  8. “Trials in this life will expose what is in your heart—whether the offense is toward God or others. Tests either make you bitter toward God and your peers or stronger. If you pass the test, your roots will shoot down deeper, stabilizing you and your future. If you fail, you become offended, which can lead to defilement with bitterness.”
  9. “But ground will produce only what is planted in it. If we plant seeds of debt, unforgiveness, and offense, another root will spring up in place of the love of God. It is called the root of bitterness.”
  10. “Offended people still may experience miracles, words of utterance, strong preaching, and healing in their lives. But these are gifts of the Spirit, not fruits. We will be judged according to fruit, not gifting. A gift is given. Fruit is cultivated.”
  11. “A pure heart is like pure gold—soft, tender, and pliable. Hebrews 3:13 states that hearts are hardened through the deceitfulness of sin! If we do not deal with an offense, it will produce more fruit of sin, such as bitterness, anger, and resentment. This added substance hardens our hearts just as alloys harden gold. This reduces or removes tenderness, creating a loss of sensitivity. We are hindered in our ability to hear God’s voice. Our accuracy to see is darkened. This is a perfect setting for deception.”
  12. “And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. —MATTHEW 24:10–13
  13. “In My greatest hour of need, My closest friends deserted Me. Judas betrayed Me, Peter denied Me, and the rest fled for their lives. Only John followed from afar. I had cared for them for over three years, feeding them and teaching them. Yet as I died for the sins of the world, I forgave. I released all of them—from My friends who had deserted Me to the Roman guard who had crucified Me. They didn’t ask for forgiveness, yet I freely gave it.”
  14. “Do not be afraid to allow the Holy Spirit to reveal any unforgiveness or bitterness. The longer you hide it, the stronger it will become and the harder your heart will grow. Stay tenderhearted. How? Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. —EPHESIANS 4:31-32
  15. “When the plan of God for my life causes me to face my hurts and wrongful attitudes, I will not run from these things but will find healing and restoration from dealing with my hurts through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
  16. “Stay submitted to God by not becoming offended; resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). We resist the devil by not becoming offended. The dream or vision will probably happen differently than how you think it will, but His Word and His promises will not fail. We only risk aborting them by our disobedience.”
  17. “In other words, a believer who chooses to delight in the Word of God in the midst of adversity will avoid being offended. That person will be like a tree whose roots search deep to where the Spirit provides strength and nourishment. He will draw from the well of God deep within his spirit. This will mature him to the point where adversity will now be the catalyst for fruit. Hallelujah!”
  18. “A PERSON WHO CANNOT FORGIVE HAS FORGOTTEN HOW GREAT A DEBT GOD HAS FORGIVEN THEM.”
  19. “Satan, you are the enemy of my soul, and I refuse to allow you to ensnare me in your hidden and baited trap of offense against my brothers and sisters in Christ.”
  20. “God refines with afflictions, trials, and tribulations, the heat of which separates impurities such as unforgiveness, strife, bitterness, anger, envy, and so forth from the character of God in our lives. Sin easily hides where there is no heat of trials and afflictions. In times of prosperity and success, even a wicked man will seem kind and generous. Under the heat of trials, however, the impurities surface. There was a time in my life when I went through intense trials such as I had never faced before. I became rude and harsh with those closest to me. My family and friends began to avoid me. I cried out to the Lord, “Where is all this anger coming from? It wasn’t here before!” The Lord responded, “Son, it is when they liquefy gold in fire that the impurities show up.” He then asked a question that changed my life. “Can you see the impurities in gold before it is put in the fire?” “No,” I answered. “But that doesn’t mean they were not there,” He said. “When the fire of trials hit you, these impurities surfaced. Though hidden to you, they were always visible to Me. So now you have a choice that will determine your future. You can remain angry, blaming your wife, friends, pastor, and the people you work with, or you can see this dross of sin for what it is and repent, receive forgiveness, and I will take My ladle and remove these impurities from your life.”

The Impact of Faith: Trust and Belief in Daily Life

What a crazy world we live in. We are blessed to live in America with amazing opportunities and freedom. We can choose where we want to live, and what we want to do to earn a living. We are free to express ourselves, choose our own religion, and choose who to worship. Some choose to worship God, some do not.

Who we worship is a choice that affects our entire lives, and the lives of our families. Some choose to worship God, some do not. Some worship their career, or money, or nature. Some worship themselves, or material things, or sex, or fame, or technology. There are plenty of distractions out there.

My point is we can choose who to worship. Then we can put our trust in that and build our faith. Faith comes down to trust. Who or what do we trust? Do we rely on ourselves all the time? Do we rely on God or a Higher Power? Do we believe that God exists and wants what is best for us?

The definition of FAITH is:

  • complete trust or confidence in someone or something
  • an allegiance to duty or a person  – loyalty
  • belief and trust in and loyalty to God
  • something that is believed especially with strong conviction

“But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6 AMP

I didn’t always believe in God. I didn’t know him. I wasn’t raised in Church like many that I know. Yet, here I am. God called me out of darkness into His marvelous light. I lived 30+ years without Him. Yet, He knew me before I was born. He knows you too…

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a [special] people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies [the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once you were not a people [at all], but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” – 1 Peter 2:9-10 AMP

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; ” Jeremiah 1:5a AMP

“Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].” – Hebrews 11:1 AMP

So how do we build our faith? If faith is being sure of what we do not yet see, what do we base it on? In my journey I have chosen to follow Jesus, read the Bible, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. I need God in so many ways in my day to day life. When my life is crazy, I need to know that God has a plan that is bigger than what I see. I had to learn the difference between lust and love. Not everyone who told me, “I love you,” meant it. I had to relearn what love really is, from the one who is love – God.

“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11 AMP

““For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts higher than your thoughts – Isaiah 55:8-9 AMP

Faith is a choice, just as worship is. We get to choose who to put our faith in and who we worship. Trust is a choice. Living without God and the Holy Spirit for so many years really messed up who I trusted. I used to trust everyone with everything. That didn’t work out so good. I would give my all to people who would walk all over me and betray me. My ‘trust meter” was broken. I needed God to help me make better choices. I needed an anchor – someone I could trust who would not betray me. I needed God.

After a while I didn’t trust anyone or anything. That was a pretty dark tunnel. Led me to do all stupid things like self-harm. Without God, there is no light in the dark. I followed that depression train right down to the depths. What a liar that Devil is. He almost got me. But God… Yes, He called my name, He brought me out of the depths of despair and gave me a reason to live and love again. God is so faithful. He really did pull me out from the fire. And I believe He will do it for you too! Yes, YOU!

“I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of a horrible pit [of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock, steadying my footsteps and establishing my path. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear [with great reverence] And will trust confidently in the Lord.” – Psalm 40:1-3 AMP

I can build my faith by:

  • Choosing to believe in God and what the Bible says
  • Reading the Bible for myself to read, know, and meditate on the Word of God
  • Attending a Church to learn more from fellow believers, we are not alone in this journey
  • Pray every day, in all situations
  • Repent, admit that I have been living my life without God and make a choice to turn towards Him
  • Get baptized in Jesus Name to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost
  • Worship and be thankful
  • Open my heart to let love in, and trust God
  • Practice my faith, act on it
  • Hang out with other believers to serve God and my community

“For You have delivered my soul from death. Have You not kept my feet from falling, That I may walk before God In the light of the living?” – Psalm 56:13 NKJV

Today is a new day. It is a new beginning. I have learned I can always make a new choice, and so can you. Like someone once said to me, “What have you got to lose? Why not ask God to show you who He really is?” Guess what, He did, and He shows me more and more every day. Ask, and you will receive.

“The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.” – Numbers 6:24-26 NKJV

Embracing Faith: Triumphing Over Domestic Abuse and Finding Love

I heard a sermon the other day where the Pastor shared the hard times of their life. Not a watered down, build you up, prosperity sermon – but the real thing, real life. He humbly shared how he still struggles with death and grief, just as we all do. It touched my heart because of the truth of it all. This thing called life here on Earth. It’s hard. It’s not fair. It rips your heart out into a million pieces. Sometimes it just sucks. Yet, in the middle of it all God calls our name. And God promises to be with us through all of it:

“But now, this is what the Lord, your Creator says, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel ,“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you [from captivity];I have called you by name; you are Mine! 2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. 3 “For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;” – Isaiah 43:1-3a AMP

When I think back to where God has brought me from I stand amazed. There were times I lived in a 1969 trailer with a man that used to scream at me and my kids with the Bible in his hand, telling me I had to do whatever he wanted because God says so. Wow! Thank you Lord for that deliverance!

These days my kids are grown and off living their lives with a better view. They were first hand observers of what we all went through when living in domestic violence. I didn’t think I would ever get out alive. Of course I didn’t tell the kids that. We all learned how to walk on eggshells and not piss off the Narcissist. When living in a traumatic household we all learn to cope in different ways. Not healthy ways though, because there was nothing normal about our home.

I remember going to church sometimes and seeing all the happy couples living their lives. They looked perfect from the outside. But then again, so did I. You learn to put on your ‘plastic smile’ and say ,”Praise the Lord!” to everyone. They didn’t know that on the inside I was screaming, “Help me get out of this abusive marriage!” I was a great secret holder. Kept all those icky feelings stuffed down deep inside – another coping mechanism I would have to unlearn later. (See: I Told Myself This Would Never Happen Again) But, with God’s help and strength I didn’t give up. I found scripture that I would say out loud over and over.

I remember shutting myself in the bathroom with my little index cards of scripture (when the Narcissist was not home of course), “God, you promised I would be somebody’s helpmate. You said that I would find peace and love and happiness – but this isn’t it. Do something to get me and my kids out of here! This is not life at all, I have married and slept with the enemy Lord, Help me!” (See 12 Steps to Keeping Your Sanity When You Are Sleeping with the Enemy)

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” – John 10:10 AMP

God did step in, and gave me the courage to leave with my children. We lived at the local battered women’s shelter for 40 days. That’s kind of ironic, that 40 day thing. I got counseling, and so did my kids. Thank you Lord, even then, You were with us. You never left us, You never forsake us. And You were, and still are faithful. You never stole from me, You never hurt me, You never cheated on me. Yeah, all those things that took years of therapy and lots of time in the Word to unlearn. God’s Holy Spirit still helps me heal those old wounds.

” But when the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of Truth who comes from the Father, He will testify and bear witness about Me.  But you will testify also and be My witnesses, because you have been with Me from the beginning.” – John 15:26-27 AMP

Today I can say it was worth it all. God has restored everything the enemy had stolen. He has blessed me with a Godly Husband (and Pastor, who knew?) who loves me like God does. He is patient and kind. He is amazing, I am so blessed. God has blessed our children, all 6 of them with lots of double portions! Thank you Jesus.

“I will pay you back for the years that your food was eaten by the flying locust, the jumping locust, the destroying locust, and the chewing locust, My large army which I sent among you.  You will have much to eat and be filled. And you will praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has done wonderful things for you. Then My people will never be put to shame. 27 You will know that I am in Israel. You will know that I am the Lord your God, and that there is no other. And My people will never be put to shame.” – Joel 2:25-27 NLV

“Now it shall be, if you diligently listen to and obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all of His commandments which I am commanding you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you pay attention to the voice of the Lord your God. “You will be blessed in the city, and you will be blessed in the field. “The offspring of your body and the produce of your ground and the offspring of your animals, the offspring of your herd and the young of your flock will be blessed. “Your basket and your kneading bowl will be blessed.  “You will be blessed when you come in and you will be blessed when you go out. “The Lord will cause the enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you; they will come out against you one way, but flee before you seven ways. The Lord will command the blessing upon you in your storehouses and in all that you undertake, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives you. The Lord will establish you as a people holy [and set apart] to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk [that is, live your life each and every day] in His ways. ” – Deuteronomy 28:4-9 AMP

My hope for you reading this is that you don’t give up just yet. I know it’s hard. I see you. More importantly, God sees you. Cry out to Him in prayer. He will make a way where there is no way. He will deliver you, He promised.

“Instead of your [former] shame you will have a double portion; And instead of humiliation your people will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore in their land they will possess double [what they had forfeited]; Everlasting joy will be theirs. For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery with a burnt offering. And I will faithfully reward them, And make an everlasting covenant with them. Then their offspring will be known among the nations, And their descendants among the peoples. All who see them [in their prosperity] will recognize and acknowledge them That they are the people whom the Lord has blessed.” – Isaiah 61:7-9 AMP

I Will Remember

As I get older I have more time to look back on my life. What a ride, lol! There were good decisions and some bad decisions too. Yet I still stand amazed at what God has done in my life. I will remember the mighty acts He has shown me.

“And talk of Your deeds.
Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary;
Who is so great a God as our God?
You are the God who does wonders;
You have declared Your strength among the peoples.
You have with Your arm redeemed Your people,
The sons of Jacob and Joseph.” – Psalm 77:11-15

There are 2 questions I ask myself as I look back and forward:

What has God saved FROM?

  • Domestic Violence
  • Living in fear
  • Lust
  • Perversion
  • Suicide Attempts
  • Hopelessness
  • Shame
  • Despair
  • Poverty
  • Being Orphaned
  • Sickness
  • Sorrow
  • Depression
  • Mental illness
  • Living in chaos

What has God saved me FOR?

  • Hope
  • Love
  • Salvation
  • Peace
  • Redemption
  • Freedom
  • Healing
  • Wholeness
  • Holiness
  • Purpose
  • Joy
  • Ministry
  • Music
  • Faithfulness
  • Adoption
  • Wellness
  • Forgiveness

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your captivity” – Jeremiah 29:11-14

I will remember all that God has done, is doing, and will do in my life. How about you? What has God delivered you FROM? And what has God delivered you FOR

“So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust. . . . You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; and My people shall never be put to shame.” – Joel 2:25–26

From Joseph Prince Ministries:

“The most precious thing that our Lord Jesus can restore to you is the lost years of your life.

All the years that the locusts have eaten, God can supernaturally restore to you. Every minute spent in fear, worry, doubt, guilt, condemnation, addiction, and sin adds up to wasted years that have been stolen from you.

But I have good news for you today. Because of what our Lord Jesus has done for us on the cross, you can believe for total and complete restoration, for God to redeem ALL the time that has been lost and wasted!”

How to Get Deliverance from Evil or Trouble

Let’s face it, there really is good and evil in this world. There is a Heaven and there is a Hell. All throughout the Bible Jesus was casting out bad spirits/demons/sickness, etc. He even gave us the authority to do it as well:

Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

Luke 10:17-20

My question is, why do we not see this today? There are tons of people suffering and I haven’t run across many people who will use their own deliverance to deliver someone else. For example, I used to be a victim of domestic violence – not anymore. God put people in my path that spoke life into me and they helped deliver me from my victim mentality. Furthermore, I am no longer a doormat. Ms. Diana is not afraid to speak her mind these days, lol!

  • What if a former alcoholic could deliver a present alcoholic?
  • What if a person who had survived an illness, could deliver a person who is ill now?
  • What if a person who has overcome depression could deliver someone else with depression?
  • What if a former suicidal person could deliver someone who is thinking about it today? (Yes, this used to be me)

Well, in my mind that would entail all of us being willing to be vulnerable with another human being. We would have to admit and say out loud that we didn’t always have it all together. We would have to share our weaknesses, not our strengths. And, we would have to give God all the glory.

Prayers for Deliverance:

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. – James 4:7

You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.  – Psalm 32:7

Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He delivered them out of their distresses. – Psalm 107:6

I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears. – Psalm 34:4

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles. – Psalm 34:17

For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God]. Who is the one who is victorious and overcomes the world? It is the one who believes and recognizes the fact that Jesus is the Son of God.  – 1 John 5:4-5

Then David spoke to the Lord the words of this song, on the day when the Lord had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. And he said:

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
The God of my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation,
My stronghold and my refuge;
My Savior, You save me from violence.
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies. – 2 Samuel 22:1-4

Quotes on Deliverance:

“Nobody appreciates deliverance like those who’ve nearly been destroyed.” ~ Beth Moore

“If you will be humble and ask God what to do, I promise you that he will always prepare a way for your deliverance.” ~ Henry B. Eyring

“The wise man in the storm prays God not for safety from danger but for deliverance from fear. It is the storm within which endangers him, not the storm without.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“When we see death, we see disaster. When Jesus sees death, he sees deliverance!” ~ Max Lucado

“I need forgiveness for my sins, but I need also deliverance from the power of sin… I appreciate the blessed fact of God’s forgiveness, but I want something more than that: I want deliverance. I need forgiveness for what I have done, but I need also deliverance from what I am.” ~ Watchman Nee

“We should not shrink from opportunities where our faith may be tried. The more I am in a position to be tried in faith, the more I will have the opportunity of seeing God’s help and deliverance. Every fresh instance in which He helps and delivers me will increase my faith. The believer should not shrink from situations, positions, or circumstances in which his faith may be tried, but he should cheerfully embrace them as opportunities to see the hand of God stretched out in help and deliverance. Thus his faith will be strengthened.” ~ George Muller

“Whether we get to avoid pain and suffering or we must persevere in the midst of it, our deliverance comes when we’re dragged from the enemy of our souls to the heart of God.” ~ Beth Moore

“Grace means that God does something for me; law means that I do something for God. God has certain holy and righteous demands which he places upon me: that is law. Now if law means that God requires something of me for their fulfillment, then deliverance from law means he no longer requires that from me, but himself provides it.” ~ Watchman Nee

Boost Your Self Esteem by Changing Your Thoughts

How do you see yourself? Do you believe you are valuable and worthy of love?  I have been asking myself things this past month, especially after the weight gain I have had with all the medicines I am on. I found I had built my self esteem on what others told me, or what the Media said I should look like. It’s kind of a self defeating prophecy. The more you try, the worse you feel.

I think it’s the Devil’s trap myself. Yeah, ” Let’s get them to hate themselves and then they will never learn to love God, or people, or themselves. Then they will wake up every day thinking negative thoughts. Sounds like a plan…It’s taken me over 50 years to kick that Devil and his thoughts out of my head!  And I am still attacked in my thoughts. I wanted a way to change the thoughts in my head – they were not helping me.

Self esteem, as the Mayo Clinic describes it is:

Self-esteem is your overall opinion of yourself — how you feel about your abilities and limitations. When you have healthy self-esteem, you feel good about yourself and see yourself as deserving the respect of others. When you have low self-esteem, you put little value on your opinions and ideas.

I want to base my self esteem not on me, not on negative thoughts, not on what other people say, not what the Devil says, but on what God says about me. I had to ( and still do) rewrite the script in my head! I was putting more value on what other people said, and not enough value on what God said. I mean, I read the Bible and know these verses, but there is a big difference when you actually use it to change your thoughts.

These are the verses from God that have helped me to boost my self esteem and change my thoughts.

You are altogether beautiful, my darling, beautiful in every way. (Song of Solomon 4:7 NLT)

For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 AMP)

For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us]. (Ephesians 2:10 AMP)

And the Angel of the Lord  appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” (Judges 6:12 NKJV)

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a [special] people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies [the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9) AMP)

Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles,
expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe
yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the
unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to
God. (1Peter 3:3-4 NLT)

‘Do not fear [anything], for I am with you;
Do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you;
I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].’(Isaiah 41:10AMP)

For You formed my innermost parts;
You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was being formed in secret,
And intricately and skillfully formed [as if embroidered with many colors] in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were appointed for me,
When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape]. (Psalm 139:13-16AMP)

I still have the 3×5 index cards I wrote to myself to reprogram my thoughts. I would carry them in my purse everywhere I went. When I had a moment I would get them out and read them, especially out loud. Yeah, this was way before my iPhone! I have to share that this was the only way that helped me change my thoughts and boost my self esteem. God’s word cuts through the negative and replaces it with positive. Try it for yourself and enjoy your transformation!

12 Signs of Being Under Spiritual Attack

There are times that we need to declare the Word of God in the atmosphere. Spiritual warfare is real. There is good and there is evil. There are angels and there are demons, They are not just on TV, they are real. We all have the choice on whom we will serve. There WILL be a battle in this world for your mind, your thoughts, your heart, and your soul.

“Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind].” – 1 John 4:4 AMP

God is for us and not against us. But this life isn’t all rainbows and butterflies. There will be many that come against you because you are a believer in Christ. It happened to Jesus, and He said that it would happen to us as well.

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]” – John 16:33 AMP

  3. You are being deceived to stay in sin or tempted to sin
  4. You are always tired, fatigued, or drained
  5. You start having negative thoughts that are not healthy

  7. You are revisiting old emotional wounds and thinking of going back to how you were before Jesus
  8. You are confused over what you believe anymore

  10. You are overly anxious, fearful, or stressed
  11. You start planning revenge on those who hurt you
  12. You feel worthless, lonely, and lose faith that things will get better for you

How to Declare the Victory over Spiritual Attack

Prayer is essential in overcoming a spiritual attack. I had to get back to reading God’s Word whether I felt like it or not. I had to flood my mind with His Word with Apps like Audible, Dwell, and Biblegateway

Search for Bible verses on the subject you are dealing with. For me, I have had 2 years of illness and malaise. I had to find scriptures on the Healing Power of Jesus. I had to read them out loud and announce to myself, God and the enemy that Jesus can and will heal me.  For more visit:  GODS WORD IS YOUR MOST POWERFUL WEEAPON IN THE BATTLE.

I also have felt fearful and stressed. Here is how God brought me out of it, 14 QUOTES ON FEAR AND WHAT TO DO WITH IT

I have also battled feeling worthless and was full of despair. I had to start to believe what GOD said, more than what my thoughts were saying. Here is how God helped me: LETTING GO OF THE PAST AND NEGATIVE THOUGHTS

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might.  Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this [present] darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) places.  Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious].  So stand firm and hold your ground, having tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart),  and having strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news].  Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.” – Ephesians 6:10-18 AMP
