When God Takes Out the Trash

“When God takes out the trash, don’t go digging back through it. Trust Him.”
― Amaka Imani Nkosazana

Monday is our trash day, what about you? It really is amazing that we can just roll those containers to the curb and let the trash company just pick them up. All that trash never to be seen again – well, unless you go to the landfill or the recycling center. And who wants to do that? Not me.

I trust the garbage man to do what he needs to do, and the garbage company to recycle what they can. Today I had a weird thought. What if we let God take out the trash in our lives? You know, those old negative thought patterns, the mistakes we made, the things we are ashamed of? What if we just wheel it to the curb and let Him take it? What would happen if we would trust God?

The Devil likes to remind us of where we have been. Jesus reminds us that our past is forgiven and gone. So why do we keep telling God about something He already forgot?

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God – Romans 3:23

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. – 1 John 1:9

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! – John 1:29

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. – 2 Corinthians 5:21

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8

I am going to live in the Kairos moment of NOW with Jesus and stop looking back to the old me. That old me was buried at baptism anyway. I am forgiven.

You were dead in sins, and your sinful desires were not yet cut away. Then he gave you a share in the very life of Christ, for he forgave all your sins, 14 and blotted out the charges proved against you, the list of his commandments which you had not obeyed. He took this list of sins and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ’s cross. 15 In this way God took away Satan’s power to accuse you of sin, and God openly displayed to the whole world Christ’s triumph at the cross where your sins were all taken away. Colossians 2:13-15

Have you been baptized yet? If you want to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost just ask God. Then go find an Acts 2:38 Church and let all that old sin be buried in baptism with Christ. Then you can rise again and be reborn into your new forgiven life!

Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. – Acts 2:37-38.

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.  For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.  And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. – Galatians 3:26-29
