Dedicated to all the men and women in the wake of Hurricane Harvey…
The Water is Rising
-Copyright 2017 Diana Rasmussen
riding the waves of anxiety, the flood rushes in my heart and mind
I wish this wasn’t real because the truth is hard to take
never thought it would be this bad, should have left when I had the chance
the water is rising, the water is rising
there are heroes born of tragedy, working together to show the love
my reality is life with boats floating down the streets
mighty men and women rising up, saving strangers one by one
the water is rising, the water is rising
when they fianlly come for me, I can’t believe I am still alive,
staying up in the second story as my life floats by
I’m grateful for one more breath, in the hurricane that changed my life
the water is rising, the water is rising
this isnt’ the end of my story
the water is rising, the water is rising
this isn’t the end of my story
the water is rising, the water is rising
