How to Get Deliverance from Evil or Trouble

Let’s face it, there really is good and evil in this world. There is a Heaven and there is a Hell. All throughout the Bible Jesus was casting out bad spirits/demons/sickness, etc. He even gave us the authority to do it as well:

Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

Luke 10:17-20

My question is, why do we not see this today? There are tons of people suffering and I haven’t run across many people who will use their own deliverance to deliver someone else. For example, I used to be a victim of domestic violence – not anymore. God put people in my path that spoke life into me and they helped deliver me from my victim mentality. Furthermore, I am no longer a doormat. Ms. Diana is not afraid to speak her mind these days, lol!

Well, in my mind that would entail all of us being willing to be vulnerable with another human being. We would have to admit and say out loud that we didn’t always have it all together. We would have to share our weaknesses, not our strengths. And, we would have to give God all the glory.

Prayers for Deliverance:

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. – James 4:7

You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.  – Psalm 32:7

Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He delivered them out of their distresses. – Psalm 107:6

I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears. – Psalm 34:4

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles. – Psalm 34:17

 For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God]. Who is the one who is victorious and overcomes the world? It is the one who believes and recognizes the fact that Jesus is the Son of God.  – 1 John 5:4-5

Then David spoke to the Lord the words of this song, on the day when the Lord had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. And he said:

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
The God of my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation,
My stronghold and my refuge;
My Savior, You save me from violence.
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies. – 2 Samuel 22:1-4

Quotes on Deliverance:

“Nobody appreciates deliverance like those who’ve nearly been destroyed.” ~ Beth Moore

“If you will be humble and ask God what to do, I promise you that he will always prepare a way for your deliverance.” ~ Henry B. Eyring

“The wise man in the storm prays God not for safety from danger but for deliverance from fear. It is the storm within which endangers him, not the storm without.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

“When we see death, we see disaster. When Jesus sees death, he sees deliverance!” ~ Max Lucado

“I need forgiveness for my sins, but I need also deliverance from the power of sin… I appreciate the blessed fact of God’s forgiveness, but I want something more than that: I want deliverance. I need forgiveness for what I have done, but I need also deliverance from what I am.” ~ Watchman Nee

“We should not shrink from opportunities where our faith may be tried. The more I am in a position to be tried in faith, the more I will have the opportunity of seeing God’s help and deliverance. Every fresh instance in which He helps and delivers me will increase my faith. The believer should not shrink from situations, positions, or circumstances in which his faith may be tried, but he should cheerfully embrace them as opportunities to see the hand of God stretched out in help and deliverance. Thus his faith will be strengthened.” ~ George Muller

“Whether we get to avoid pain and suffering or we must persevere in the midst of it, our deliverance comes when we’re dragged from the enemy of our souls to the heart of God.” ~ Beth Moore

“Grace means that God does something for me; law means that I do something for God. God has certain holy and righteous demands which he places upon me: that is law. Now if law means that God requires something of me for their fulfillment, then deliverance from law means he no longer requires that from me, but himself provides it.” ~ Watchman Nee
