Would You Love Them For Me Anyway?

As I sit and wonder,
what this thing of Love is.
And why it costs so much
just to give it away.

God gently reminds me.
it cost Him something too.
His Son Jesus Christ
died to save me from my sins.

As I look at those around me
full of anger, fear, and strife.
He asks me quite slowly
“Would you love them for Me, anyway?”

I say, “But God they don’t want it,
they run and they hide.
My love goes unanswered,
and so I ask why?”

He says it’s His job to change them,
Not mine as I thought.
My only task it’s quite clear,
is to love them, anyway.

He says once again with a smile on His face,
“Watch what I do with it,
this Love covered with Grace.
They can run but they can’t hide
from Me, I’m on the inside!”

So I resign my arguments,
give up my controlling behavior,
trusting Him to do it best.
And I’ll just love them, anyway.

For you see, that’s His child
buried deep in the mud.
And God lives inside of them,
even though they don’t know it yet.

I reach out my hand, help them up.
And show them how much
God loves them right where they are.
and I’ll love them, anyway.

  1. I never knew someone whom I hated, I have never seen anyone whom I did not want to be around! I have come a long way on my trail of tears, so I realize that I could not judge any one because I also am imperfect, especially while in the flesh. But I humbled myself and decided I would try my best to emulate his life as much as I could, especially in sharing His love with everyone. Each day he does, not giving up on any one, and all he asks for in return is to love others with a spiritual love which is unconditional. Now that is real love. What we view with our eyes on the outside can greatly change on the inside with the master’s touch…we were and still are everyday blossoming, and though we make some mistakes we belong to him. We share, planting love seeds within, another will water and God will harvest the fruit of acceptance and faith on those who find and humbly choose the way! Wonderful poem Diana, so truly wonderful, and yet he has given you that treasure to share…and just think how many read your words but do not hit a like button, but have that touch you left them from your words, matriculating within. I am just happy each day to receive what you daily share, and I keep sharing always because that is what he has blessed me to do…and though I am only a beggar leading other beggars to taste of the bread which I love, nothing will please me more than to serve him with my heart each and everyday. Is it not said that all of heaven rejoices when a single soul is saved! We are one in spirit always. Love, hugs and blessing my sister…always!

    • Thank you my brother Wendell. A gift isn’t a gift until we give it away right? lol, God cracks me up. If you only knew my past, you would know how much of a change it is for me to write about love. I was that woman at the well. Yep, divorced 3 times, and on marriage number 4. Lots of wreckage. Kids from 2 different daddies. Ugggh. I know there is a God – I’m still breathing! Thank you for your kindness, and your wisdom. All of us who read your poetry learn more about what real love looks like.

And you my friend, I don’t see you as a beggar handing out bread. I see you as a Prince in the Kingdom, with more than enough. You are an heir of the King, sealed with his ring, and there is Royal blood in those veins!

  2. So beautiful, . .thank you and God bless you for sharing this today!

  3. what a beautiful picture we portray to the world if we get this one right 🙂 thanks for reminding me today … you rock!
