When You Love a Prodigal Son

When You Love A Prodigal Son

© 2013 D Rasmussen (another poem from a long ago, far away place)

I walk in the valley of shadows.
Hold onto a wing and a prayer.
My heart and my life is coming undone,
Because I love a Prodigal Son.
*
There are mountains of empty bottles,
and big piles of broken promises.
Another lie to cover things up;
Anything for just one more drink.
*
Break down the walls of my denial.
Shine light in the darkness of my soul.
Jesus, give me the faith to believe
that someday and somehow things will change.

  1. Showing unconditional love is some of the heaviest spiritual “sandpapering” there is. God majors in victory regarding it… and so will you if you faint not, my dear. God be with you! Well done.

  2. Powerful – Lord, help our unbelief. Diana, I pray the Lord tears the veil that blinds your prodigal, so that he will have a revelation of the truth, just as the prodigal son in the bible did. Father, unveil his eyes, and dazzle him with the revelation of Your goodness. And Lord, You said that if You are lifted up, You will draw all men unto Yourself. Therefore, Lord, I remind You of my sister, Diana, who continually lifts You up in her poetry and songs, and I ask You to draw her prodigal son to You as she continues to lift You up.

In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

    God bless you, Sis,
    Cheryl

    • Amen Cheryl, thank you so much. There have been many Prodigals in my life. I pray God tears all their veils and overtakes them where they are with His goodness. Thank you my friend, you bring such joy and hope to my heart!

Peace and health to you, in Jesus Name,

      Diana
