Rejected?

This morning I woke up with the word “rejected” in my head.  I know that this is an area where God wants to heal me.  If you are anything like me, there have been many rejections in your past.  So, I started my journey today – my quest for healing from rejection.  Here is one of the first things I found, and this struck me in my spirit right away:

From Joyce Meyer:
The Lord gave this Word to me as I was preparing for one of my conferences, and I believe He wants me to share it with you. He said:

“So many are in prison because they won’t accept themselves. So many are so gifted and talented, but they won’t express themselves because they fear rejection. They fear man. They fear what people will think. I want to love My people, but they hold Me at arms length and won’t let Me really love them because they have been hurt by others. They fear I will reject them because of their weaknesses—like people have—but I will never reject them. Tell them I love them. Ask them to stop trying so hard to be acceptable to Me and to realize I accept them where they are. Tell them I don’t want perfect performance from them. I want them to love Me and to let Me love them.”

Yep, that’s me.  Funny how you find pieces of yourself that you didn’t know were there.  How and why do we despise ourselves? And how do we get beyond this? hmmmmm….

Have you not noticed that these people [the Jews] are saying, The Lord has cast off the two families [Israel and Judah] which He chose? Thus My people have despised [themselves in relation to God as His covenant people], so that they are no more a nation in their [own] sight. (Jeremiah 33:24 AMP)

Then I went to In Touch Ministries. Here is what they said about Victory Over Rejection

People can live in bondage and not even know it.  Some prisons don’t require physical bars or chains; they are made by the emotional burden of rejection that affects every area of our lives. It causes us to believe lies about ourselves and undermines our relationships with the Lord.

Characteristics of a Person Suffering From Rejection:

  • Critical spirit toward themselves and others
  • Experience difficulty in loving others
  • Have feelings of inferiority
  • Be preoccupied with their appearance
  • Prone to Perfectionism
  • Live in a State of Floating Anger/Bitterness
  • Display an attitude of Superiority
  • Being Overly Sensitive
  • Be suspicious
  • Become aloof
  • Fall into Depression
  • Be cheated out of life have a materialistic focus.
  • Miss God’s plan for their lives
  • Adopt sinful practices for relief

Reasons for Feeling Rejected:

the underlying cause of this painful emotion is a person’s negative opinion of himself, which is brought about by hurtful experiences such as:

  • Physical “flaws.” A person who isn’t happy with his looks can feel undesirable or unlovable.
  • Past emotional hurts. When a person is hurt, the damaging effects always linger.
  • The death of a loved one. Some people see loss as rejection because they feel alone. in their eyes, God has turned His back on them.
  • Divorce. this is a very painful experience because both spouses and children are left feeling discarded.
  • Childhood experiences. criticism and rejection stick in a child’s memory and shape his view of himself. He will spend a lifetime trying to validate his worth.
My Prayer for You:

Dear Lord,

Thank you for showing us this today. I pray that Holy Spirit would be our  guide as we travel down this road together.  Forgive us Lord for placing more value in what others say about us than what You have said about us.  Forgive us for rejecting ourselves and others. Bring us healing and health in this area. We are crying to you for wisdom and knowledge and healing, in Jesus Name.

  1. This post must’ve been healing for you. I think we all feel this way at some point in our lives. Some of us stay trapped there. Others are determined to not stay in that place anymore, with the help of Christ. Thank you holy spirit for instructing your children. This is a refreshing post full of hope.

  2. Wonderful post, really great! Just what I needed. Those bullet points really helped me a lot.

  3. I followed the link from Secret Angel PS’s blog. Rejection is a huge factor in cases of abuse. In essence, abusers are letting those they hurt know that who they are is not important or is not good enough. I know. I was abused in many ways by those that were supposed to protect and shelter me, and those scars still remain. Thankfully, they are much smaller than they used to be. The old abusive tapes are being overwritten through God’s love, which is shown to me directly and through my wonderful husband.

I love Joyce Meyer and have appreciated how powerfully God has used her through the years to help set the abused spiritually and emotionally free so that they can move forward in life as God intends it to be. That God gives her words like this is a great gift and blessing. It means she is not only a teacher but a prophet as well.

I pray that all who are hurting and read this comment learn to spiritually love, to value, to cherish themselves the way God commands us to in His spiritual law of love towards Him, other and self.

Thanks for being God’s instrument in that spiritual and emotional healing He so wants to give to those He sends across your path.

    Blessings,
    Pastor Sharon Billington

    • Thank you so much Pastor, I agree with you, let God heal us all! And I pray for my sister Lord, remove all the scars left by the abusers, and fill her with your amazing love, joy, and peace, in Jesus Name. God bless you sis, Diana

  4. “God don’t make ugly, sin does.” When you feel rejected, it is time to read what God thinks of you- once you are in His will. Then you can look in the mirror, no matter what is happening, and tell yourself what God says- “Jesus was the king of the Rejected. I thank God He took my rejection on the cross so I could live free from that bondage. I was made in the image of God; I am precious.”

  5. Reblogged this on The Abuse Expose' with Secret Angel and commented:
We have all felt the sting of rejection at some point in our lives… But God wants to bring healing and restoration. We are all loved and never rejected with God. Praise God who has put more value in each of us than we could ever imagine….

    • may the God of all comfort continue to flood your heart with his healing oil, let your cup overflow Princess!

    • Thanks for reblogging this and getting people here. This is the quote that comes to mind upon reading this: Many of us have actually been afraid to let our strength show up because the world doesn’t have a place for it. Fine. The world’s screwed up. Let people feel the weight of who you are and let them deal with it. –John Eldredge.

    • Thank you so much for the re-blog. God is amazing and healing is ours in Jesus Name. Love you sis, Diana

  8. Rewards we receive in our imperfect lives come, at times, at the expense of having lived those painful experiences, yes Diana and Cheryl. I, too, spent many adult years suffering, without knowing God had a plan for me that would fulfill my every desire to be loved. His perfect love supersedes any human love, though many cannot imagine how that could be possible when we examine our love for our own children. Remember, however, God’s love IS PERFECT….A love we will come to know and appreciate even more in eternity with Him.

God bless you both and all others who have suffered and still suffer today. One day your eyes will be opened to His truth.

I love that you are following my new website Diana. I know God has purposed me to help others who have debilitating illnesses such as myself, as I live with so many limitations. Please spread the word and like/comment on my site as well. It’s also nice to connect with you on Facebook. I, too, was a victim of some pretty horrible offenses in my lifetime.

    With Love In Him,

    Brenda

    • thank you so much Brenda, His perfect love will set us all free. God bless you my sister in Christ, Diana

  9. Diana,

You are loved with an everlasting love. Before the foundations of the earth were laid, God chose YOU to be His messenger of hope to the hopeless. He chose YOU to lead others to Him, so that they could be saved, healed and delivered. Before He ever formed you in your mother’s womb, He loved you. Your days were all written down in His journal, before you ever drew your first breath.

Just as He chose Christ to suffer and die for many, He also chose you to suffer the pain of abuse and rejection so that you would know and enjoy His love and the freedom He gives, and so that you could lead others to Him. The road He chose for you has not been an easy one, but He knew that you were the right one to fulfill His plan for you and many others.

Therefore, rejoice, my beloved sister, because you were never rejected. YOU were chosen, handpicked by God Almighty, to fulfill His great and glorious plan! YOU are honored and blessed, in Jesus’ name!

    Love,
    Cheryl

    • Thank you Cheryl, your words and prayers are making the walls fall down in my heart. I am crying tears of joy, thank you for the key today. I pray your words go forth like fire, and pulls down all the strongholds of rejection for everyone who reads this post. Lord, heal us all of this root of rejection. We cast it out in Jesus Name.

      Love you bunches,

      Diana
