Just Chill

I wanted a song that talked about the darkness, and depression.  There are so many people who suffer from this.  Then the light came, through a tiny opening, and shone into my Darkness.  If there is a shadow, there is a light! The light led me out to freedom.  I pray that Light shines in your darkness today, as only He can, and you take his hand and come out…

This song is a collaboration with a friend in New Mexico.  His name is Nathan, and he runs Protilius Productions.  He wrote and produced this song, I just added my lyrics and vocals.

JUST CHILL
2013 Lyrics by Diana Rasmussen
Music by Protilius

Sounds of depression
remembering rejection
hope turns to despair
black roses everywhere

keep hearing echos
voices in my mind
repeating endless lies
evil in disguise

need a white knight
make the wrong things right, tonight
Just Chill, Be still,
Just Chill, Be still

want a bright light
in the darkest night, tonight
Just Chill, Be still,
Just Chill, Be Still

outta sight, rewrite
Distress, exit stage right
Just Chill, Be still,
Just Chill, Be Still

Feelings up and down
like a burial ground
loneliness surrounds
my empty ghost town

don’t have the answers
nothing matters
too many questions
living in depression

When the demons flee
changes my reality
Now I can see
no more insanity

need a white knight
make the wrong things right, tonight
Just Chill, Be still,
Just Chill, Be still

want a bright light
in the darkest night, tonight
Just Chill, Be still,
Just Chill, Be Still

outta sight, rewrite
Distress, exit stage right
Just Chill, Be still,
Just Chill, Be Still

You collected all my tears
Your presence calms my fears
Just Chill, Be still
Just Chill, Be Still

    • Thanks Tami. It was for a contest on Broadjam. We’ll see how it does. There were 5 instrumental tracks chosen, anyone could download them, add their lyrics and vocals and then we as peers get to vote. You should enter!

One of my Jazz tracks,FIREFLIES, was chosen as well. It should be fun to hear what everyone comes up with.

  1. Reaching down into the soul and bringing forth such words is truly liberating. On hearing this at first I felt the hurt and dispair and felt sad, then I could hear your attempt to break free, every time you whispered, “Just Chill, Be Still.” You have a lovely voice.

    BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!

    • Thank you Francine, you are very sensitive to the Spirit, that was exactly what I was trying to do with this song. I lived in depression for years, lived through the psych wards, the doctors, the drugs…Thank you Lord, for deliverance from that fog!

  2. Yeah, this song is very ‘out of the box’ for me. Not my normal Genre or “flavor”, but God did not call me to be comfortable on this one – just to ‘shine the light’. So much hurt, so much pain…
