Weekly Photo Challenge: LOVE

My mom, me, and my kiddos…Thank you Jesus!

Love is one of those things you receive, and then pour out, from generation to generation…

(and God can make up for any jerks on the way)

Your Love lasts longer than your life
What you have poured into me
I have poured into them…
You have planted  a seed of love in my life and it blossomed and grew.
What your breathed into me I’ve breathed into them

Genesis 17:7

And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting, solemn pledge, to be a God to you and to your posterity after you.

Psalm 100:5
For the Lord is good; His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations.

Define Yourself

Define yourself radically as one beloved by God. This is the true self. Every other identity is illusion.

by Brennan Manning

From: Abba’s Child: The Cry of the Heart for Intimate Belonging

I started reading this book last night, and wow….great read!  It made me think of all the labels I have given myself in the past.  Hi, my name is Diana and I am a _____________.   I have put many things on that line, how about you?  A lot of times I filled in that blank space with what others have said about me.  And it wasn’t even true.

I have found, if I associate and call myself something, that is what I become.  Words are very powerful, especially the words that I speak over myself.   Words have the power of life and death.  We can build someone up, or tear them to shreads, – all with our words.  And, I can do this to myself, all by myself.  I never really used to pay attention to how I talk about myself until a friend pointed out that I was always cutting myself down.  How about you?  Now I’m not going to extremes either.  I don’t sit in front of the mirror for hours like the Queen of Snow White either

Back to the with the premise above.  I am beloved by God…whether I feel it or not.  If God said it –  it is true. I looked up what “beloved” meant:

1.  greatly loved; dear to the heart.
2.  a person who is greatly loved.
Synonyms
1. cherished, precious; sweet, darling.

And that’s how God sees you too – beloved.

And here’s a great video called WORDS, by Hawk Nelson…

GODS PROMISE TO YOU:

My beloved spoke and said to me, Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me. (Song of Solomon 2:10 NIV)

 And the Lord answered, Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, yet I will not forget you.  Behold, I have indelibly imprinted (tattooed a picture of) you on the palm of each of My hands; [O Zion] your walls are continually before Me. (Isaiah 49:15-16 AMP)

 A man’s [moral] self shall be filled with the fruit of his mouth; and with the consequence of his words he must be satisfied [whether good or evil].  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].  (Proverbs 18:20-21 AMP)

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,

Renew our minds. Help us shake off the labels that we have put upon ourselves that keep us in bondage.  We want to be free of anything that has not come from You.  And Lord, we give you permission, to pull out the lies that we have believed about ourselves.  And pull out the lies that others have spoken over us too, k? And the lies hat have been planted there by the enemy too… Pull out the weeds Lord, so your Word can grow more freely, in Jesus’ Name.

Cycle of Pain

(may trigger – be safe)

CYCLE OF PAIN

By Diana Rasmussen  (from a long ago faraway place)

I’m tired of screaming, getting told to “F” you,
I’m tired of crying as his face turns blue.
His anger is killing me, from the one ‘supposed to love;
My life is shriveling, as he stamps his foot to the ground.

How long Lord, how long? Must I go around and around?
My hope has run out, and love went to hide.
My faith is now shivering, fear is all around;
Will it ever be over? Or will I die in this place?

Pushed way beyond anger, to numbness alone;
I’m falling again Lord, as he shoves his words down.
He calls me a b***h, says he’s leaving again,
Only two seconds later, asks “can we start over again?”

To which words do I cling? I’m losing my mind!
He respects not my time, my space, or my wants.
Time-outs don’t matter when your time’s not your own.
How long must I endure this endless cycle of pain?

You’ve given me freedom Lord, then why can’t he see;
That I am not his property?
My hope is in You Lord, You alone do I trust,
For You only are faithful, and You give me rest.

You’ve made me Your own Lord, I’m sealed by your kiss,
But Your Spirit he squelches, he just can’t resist.
My prayer for him Lord, is that You heal his rage;
Please do it quickly, I’m trapped in his cage.

You Are With Me

You are with me

You are with me in the fire,
You are with me in the flood,
You are with me in the desert,
I put my trust in You.

I enter into Your story,
what You are already doing.
I trust you Lord to make things right;
Instead of trying to be right on my own.

I sit down in Your presence,
Spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow.
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
maker of Heaven and Earth.

GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU:

Psalm 121  A song of ascents.

I lift up my eyes to the mountains — where does my help come from?

 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

 He will not let your foot slip — he who watches over you will not slumber;

 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you — the Lord is your shade at your right hand;

the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life;

the Lord will watch over your coming and going

both now and forevermore.

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,
Watch over us; keep us from all harm;  protect us from the evil one.  You are the shade at our right hand.

Thank you Lord that even when we look back in sadness, we are not alone.  You are right there beside us.

Thank you Lord that you never leave us nor forsake us –  even on the dark and dreary days, in Jesus’ Name.

Tears on My Window

DAILY POST: Through the Window

Go to the nearest window. Look out for a full minute. Write about what you saw.

I see rain, I hear thunder, I see tears.  There are raindrops clinging to the window, and raindrops clinging to the trees.  The wind is blowing the trees, yet the raindrops still cling to the tree…

Nobody knows how much it cost you – to be you.

TD Jakes

“Sometimes we build thick impenetrable walls to protect the child in ourselves.  But by keeping everyone out, we are in a prison of our own making.  God can’t heal what we are trying to hide; be honest with yourself, its okay to not be okay.”

words from his TV show this am…

Today I am sad; I am not okay today. Its the anniversary of my mother-in-law’s death.  A year ago today we were in Monroe, WI at the nursing home, at Oma’s side when she passed from this world into the next. My youngest daughter stayed home from school today, she couldn’t stop crying.  My son went – he didn’t want to talk about it. My husband went to work –  he is sad inside.  And here I sit typing, kinda numb.  Tears come and go, yet I don’t know what to do with them.  Isn’t God supposed to collect all these tears?   All I can say, is He better have a big bucket.

How do you let it out, when you have stuffed your feelings for so long?  I’m afraid if I let go I will drown.  I know it’s not the healthiest way to deal with things; but this life thing is a journey, not a switch. And I am not drugging myself to oblivion with script drugs today.  And I am not hurting myself today.  Progress, not perfection, they say…

Her name was Anna, but we called her Oma.  She grew up in Germany during World War 2.  She would tell us stories about how there was no food, so they would go to the neighbors house and ask for a potato, to feed the family with.  And then, just references to the Nazi soldiers…She met an American Soldier, my father-in-law, and he rescued her and brought her home to America.  A real life hero!  She loved to tell us about all the places they had lived in the world.  My husband was born in Okinawa, Japan…

She was such a strong woman, so determined to make it.  She survived cancer 2 times.  Then it came back again. She didn’t have the strength to fight it anymore; she went home to be with Jesus.  I know we will see her again someday in Heaven, but it hurts not having her here today…

So, I will be quiet today, and I will read your posts on everything from depression to hope…you all bring me hope as I share in your laughter and your tears… And you all remind me that this life is only temporary; and all our tears will turn to joy someday.  Can we hurry up with that part God, I don’t like this crying part…Thanks for listening…

Let Me In (Trigger Warning)

DAILY PROMPT: Ode to a Playground

A place from your past or childhood, one that you’re fond of, is destroyed. Write it a memorial.

http://www.thephilfiles.com

(I took a few liberties with this one, my playground was not a physical place, it was in my mind)

LET ME IN (A poem from a long ago, far away place; by D Rasmussen)

On a dead-end street in any town
Lies an old condemned building.
With pieces falling all around.

The windows are cracked,
And the doors off of the hinge.
Wind blows through the holes,
And the roof is coming down.

Crouched in the corner,
Peeking around the side wall,
Is a fearful young child,
Feeling so small.

She’s locked in her prison,
can’t find her way out;
can’t see past fear and pain,
Yet she holds her hand out.

She calls for her Savior,
Jesus is His name,
He came to her table,
And fed her His Name.

She asks “why’d you come here,
Why would you want to be here?
He says “Don’t you worry,
Just rest as I care.”

He asks her, “But how can I feed you, if you won’t sit down?
How can I wash you, if you won’t slow down?
How can I give to you, if you won’t let go?
And how can I lead you, if you won’t follow?”

He says” I’m sitting here waiting, you invited me in,
Now come to my arms, and let me in.
I’ll make up the difference, shower you with my grace,
If only child, you would look at my face.”

So on that day the little girl came out of her prison,
And came to the Father, holding the Son’s hand.
He led her out of her darkness and pain,
And into the light, a new life, a new land.

The old building He demo’d,
no need for it now,
He delivered her to freedom,
and He took down the walls.

God wants to use me?

This poster spoke to me today…

When the world treated me like trash, and the enemy trampled on me – I thought that was what happened to people like me.

When people hurt, used, and abused me – I thought I was worthless.  I thought I  didn’t matter.

When my ex told me the world would be better off without me – I believed him.

When the voices in my head told me to hurt myself – I listened.

LIES, LIES, LIES

I was deceived, by people who were supposed to love me.

This poster reminds me that God can use anyone, and that somehow, someway, something good will come out of all that pain.

GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU:

The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). (John 10:10 AMP)

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,

Give us new vision today.  Help us see ourselves through Your eyes; not through our own past experiences, or someone else.  Help us receive the value that You have towards us; even if we haven’t seen it from those who should have planted it.  Tear down the lies that we have believed about ourselves.   We are weary of the destruction, we come to You for peace,  in Jesus’ Name.

Make the Wrong Things Right

“Make the Wrong Things Right”

My Prayer/Song for You:

V1

Our prayers are like a battering ram, bringing deliverance to the land.

No more murder or abuse, we call forth deliverance.

Set the captives free, tear down the lies of the enemy.

Turn the darkness into light, and make the wrong things right.

CHORUS

Let The Word of the Lord prevail, He alone can tip the scales.

Shake the mountains & rend the heavens,

Lord release Your deliverance.

Turn the darkness into light, and make the wrong things right.

V2

We pray for the weak ones crying in the night,

We pray for the speechless looking for Your light.

We pray for the children who have never known love.

Turn the darkness into light, and make the wrong things right.

GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU

Arise, O Lord!
O God, lift up Your hand!
Do not forget the humble.

Why do the wicked renounce God?
He has said in his heart,
“You will not require an account.”

But You have seen, for You observe trouble and grief,
To repay it by Your hand.
The helpless commits himself to You;
You are the helper of the fatherless.
Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man;
Seek out his wickedness until You find none.

 The Lord is King forever and ever;
The nations have perished out of His land.
Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble;
You will prepare their heart;
You will cause Your ear to hear,
To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
That the man of the earth may oppress no more.

 (Psalm 10:12-18 NKJV)

Let’s Dance!

Then David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod.”   (2 Samuel 6:14 NKJV)

My friend Seeker and I were talking last night, and  I think we all need to dance once in a while.  Even David danced before the Lord! Kinda goes with today’s daily post.

So, for the Daily Post today; what role does music play in your life?

Music is like breathing

It brings me to a new place

where it is safe.

The rhythms echo my heartbeat,

and remind me I’m still alive.

In safety I can dance with my Lord,

no judgement or condemnation,

Just His unconditional love out-pored.

Finally, a place to rest and just be…

Recently, I looked up a Bible Search on “Praise the Lord”  verses. Yep, I do that.  God will give me a word, and I search it out.  This search was at a time when I was  feeling down and depressed.  Lets just say I didn’t feel like praising anything.  You know, the dark times…

So, my first response was to ignore it, that didn’t work.  He kept knocking at the door.  Next I tried a diversion…still knocking at my heart’s door. Finally, I gave in.  Went to http://www.Biblegateway.com and did a search on “praise the Lord”; 185 results, wow. (I couldn’t list them all here, there were over 4400 words!)  That’s a lot of praising going on!  So, I tried something new; I read them out loud, and discovered something…

I have found that when I read the Word  OUT LOUD things change…It’s almost like the black cloud of depression leaves the room when you speak the Word…Try it for yourself..

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Lord,

Let us dance with You today. Refresh our bodies, renew our minds, and restore our lives, in Jesus’ Name.

True Beauty

Yes, you believe in God, but do you believe in yourself?  It’s not what YOU say to me that I am worried about, it’s what I say to me.

Check out this video from Dove on True Beauty.

I have to be honest, when I look in the mirror, it’s not always the most positive thing that I’m thinking.  I’ve had some changes…after having four children, umpteen “girl” surgeries, and a broken leg this year, I’m not really in the best shape – physically.  How come I can’t look like I was when I was 18?  You know that girl is still in there!

That got me thinking, how do I define beauty? Well, it has it has changed over the years.  I used to think it was a physical thing, how skinny I was, etc.  I know, kinda shallow, but that’s how it is when  you are young. And let’s face it, the media doesn’t help.  Talk about unrealistic expectations! Hence the video…

So, I guess my definition has changed.  It’s funny, once you redefine something, you see things differently.  So yes, today I doing my best not to criticize what God has made – me… God doesn’t make junk.  He saw what He had made, and God called it good.  And you are beautiful too!

GODS PROMISE TO YOU:

 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,  I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:14-16 NIV

“Charm and grace are deceptive, and beauty is vain [because it is not lasting], but a woman who reverently and worshipfully fears the Lord, she shall be praised”  Proverbs 31:31 AMP

“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple.” Psalm 27:4 AMP

MY PRAYER FOR YOU:

Dear Lord,

Help us change how we think about ourselves.  We have believed so many lies.  Lies from the enemy, from people who have hurt us, and just plain lies.  We speak the truth over ourselves today, Your Truth…

We are fearfully and wonderfully made!  As we come to You in the secret place, replace the lies with the truth of Your Word.  We were made in Your image, and we know You are beautiful!  Help us receive it Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
