God Collects Her Tears

God Collects Her Tears

Copyright 2014 Diana Rasmussen

She’s wearing his old t-shirt
just to fall asleep
Puts her head on his pillow
holds him in her dreams

The hole in her heart
is shouting out loud
Fake smile can’t hide it
She’s so tired of crying

She’s a prisoner of hope
it won’t always be this way
He did the crime
now he’s doing time

Minutes turn to hours
when he’s behind bars
A day’s a thousand years
as God collects her tears

 God collects tears

You’ve kept track of my every toss and turn
    through the sleepless nights,
Each tear entered in your ledger,
each ache written in your book. (Psalm 56:8 MSG)
